Chapter 1014

Spoiled by the President

Little Leonard struggled and broke free of Janet’s arms.

He waved an arm enthusiastically. “I seek and you hide.”

Lizzy nodded and turned around to grab Little Viemond’s hand.

“Can my brother play too?”

This time, Little Leonard kept quiet.

He merely pressed his lips together and eyed Little Viemond in a hostile manner.

After Nell’s explanation, Little Viemond already understood that the boy in front of him did not bully his sister. They were just playing.

However, he was always a proud boy. It was fine if he was at home with his own family, but when facing outsiders, especially during the first meeting, he would never apologize for what he had done.

Therefore, both kids stood still and stared at each other. Their little faces turned red as they held their breath, but neither one of them gave in.

Nell and Janet laughed.

In the end, they failed to play hide and seek together.

Ultimately, the two boys were intelligent yet stubborn, and even a bit aggressive. They were afraid that an accident might occur.

Hence, they passed their children to the maids, allowing them to let the young ones play some simpler games such as Crazy Arcade or the claw machine.

After letting the maids take care of the kids, Janet led Nell to her bedroom upstairs.

“Nelly, I’ve heard about Vickie’s issue. They arrived yesterday and she phoned me. Later, after dinner, you can decide whether to see her.”

Nell nodded.

She pondered for a while and asked, “Is Uncle Ian, whom you mentioned earlier, one of today’s guests?”

Janet shook her head.

“No, he’s a distant relative of the Griffins and has his own business here. He came here this time to celebrate the Old Madam’s birthday and to take care of his business.

“Today, we’re just having a family banquet to welcome your arrival. Mainly, we want to let the two Old Madams reminisce about old times. You’ll have to wait until tomorrow night for the real banquet. Till then, Uncle Ian will probably be around.”

Nell nodded again.

“In that case, there’s no hurry. It’s late anyway. I’ll see whether I’m free tomorrow morning and we shall meet up with Vickie first.”

Janet did not object to this.

She led Nell to a sofa and sat down.

First, she scanned Nell from top to toe. After that, she chuckled. “You’re a little chubby now.”

Nell was alarmed and quickly checked herself in front of the mirror.

“Really? Did I gain so much weight?”

Every day, she looked at herself in the mirror but never noticed any changes. It was most likely because Gideon often bought her a new set of clothes from time to time. As such, she did not wear her old clothes and never felt any changes in her body.

Even so, she was already very strict with maintaining her figure.

Yet, she still gained weight.

Janet noticed how nervous Nell was and laughed.

“Not really, you’re just a little rounder, but don’t worry. You’ve always been skinny, so having some meat on your bones makes you look better.”

She brought Nell back to reality as she spoke.

Nell calmed down when Janet said so.

Janet asked again, “I heard you’re pregnant again? How many months?”

When she brought this up, Nell’s lips curled into a smile.

“Nearly four months.”

“So fast?”

Janet’s eyes widened as she stared at Nell’s stomach. She raised her eyebrows suspiciously.

“Huh, your stomach is bigger than usual. Have you had a check-up?”

Nell nodded. “Yes, the doctor said I have twins.”

Janet’s eyes gleamed with envy.

“Twins? Awesome, I envy you.”

Nell tutted. “Why? You can have them anytime if you want to. It’s not like Liam won’t allow you to do so.”

Janet blushed when she heard Nell’s response.

She slapped Nell’s arm gently and muttered, “Stop pulling my leg. I don’t have such ideas.”

Janet was used to being lazy. She already complained about how noisy Little Leonard was. Having another child would be even more irritating.

Nell did not make further comments.

The two of them chatted about recent happenings and went downstairs when it was time for dinner.

Due to the large number of people, it was noisy at dinnertime.

Gideon met Liam that afternoon too. Nell had no idea what both men were talking about, but during dinner, she sensed that Liam was much more cheerful than his past self.

If the past Liam could be compared to ice, he was now like melted ice.

He was more tactful and approachable.

This was a positive change.

After all, he had to take over the Griffin family’s business one day. In the world of business, no matter how skillful one was, one still had to consider the bigger picture.

When dinner was over, Old Madam Griffin showed the Leiths their rooms. Gideon and his family obliged and stayed.

Lizzy had gone to her own room to sleep. As Little Viemond was still young, he needed Nell to tuck him into bed before falling asleep.

Nell lay down beside him and told him a story.

She watched as her son lowered his head slowly. After that, she placed a small pillow behind his head, covered him with a blanket, and walked out of the room silently.

As soon as she got out, she bumped into Gideon who appeared out of nowhere.

Gideon had a glass of milk in his hand. When he saw her coming out of Little Viemond’s room, he asked, “Is he asleep?”

Nell nodded.

She worried that he would wake up the kids, so she held his hand and led him into their room.

She heaved a sigh of relief when they were inside their room. After closing the door, she asked, “Where have you been?”

“I went to answer a call.” He paused, then continued, “My subordinates discovered a piece of Arcane Jade.”

Nell was stunned and surprised.

“So soon? Where?”

“At a quarry in Shennan.”

As he spoke, Gideon felt skeptical.

“Nelly, don’t you sense something strange?”

Nell was concerned and sat down. “What is it?”

Gideon frowned and explained. “All along, we’ve been helping Gregory look for the Arcane Jade. Although it isn’t easy, it’s, in fact, not as impossible as we think. Judging by Jeff Flinders’ tactics and how well-informed the Flinders family is, I don’t think that he won’t be able to find it without our help.

Have you ever wondered why he wants to rely on others and force Gregory to look for it if he can do it himself?”

Nell froze.

True. How powerful was the Flinders family?

It was a force to be reckoned with. Even her uncle and the members of the Bauhinia Clan were no match for the former.

Jeff Flinders was also a strategist. Why was he not searching for the Arcane Jade himself?

Her eyebrows locked into a tight frown.
