Chapter 275

275

Unmasking the Heiress

Chapter 275 Feeling a twinge of embarrassment at his thoughts, Walter quickly looked away, trying to keep his cool and focus on his phone. Just then, Evangeline offered him a glass of red wine, stretching out her long legs and leaning casually against the headboard.

"Walter, how about a drink?"

Evangeline's eyes sparkled. Even without lipstick, her lips seemed to Walter the most tempting shade of red, constantly drawing him in, making him yearn for a kiss.

It was as if she had cast a spell on him; Walter took the wine almost without thinking.

"Is today... something special?" His voice was rough with a heat that had nothing to do with the temperature in the room.

Somehow, without him even noticing. Evangeline had become the flame igniting his desire, her every move setting him ablaze.

Evangeline's lips curved into a playful smile, her eyes reflecting a touch of confusion.

"Do I need a special occasion to have a drink?

Walter's response was cool, a stark contrast to the warmth he felt inside. "Evangeline, you know you shouldn't be drinking right now."

Of course, Evangeline was aware. She was trying to conceive, and alcohol was off the table.

Even so, Evangeline and Walter were stuck in this super awkward moment. Without a little wine to break the ice, how on earth were they going to talk about starting a family?

Evangeline gave Walter's icy gaze a little nudge with her wine glass.

"I looked it up, you know. A bit of red wine won't hurt," she said. "So, how about a toast?"

She held her wine glass aloft, hope sparkling in her eyes as she waited for Walter's reaction.

It was rather obvious what she was up to. A little liquid courage and she would have Walter right where she wanted him. Then, in the heat of the moment, she would pop the question about having a baby.

Obviously, a clear-headed Walter was way too sharp, and even with her status as the Foster family's darling, she was not getting any special deals from him.

Walter did not say a word. He just clinked his glass against hers and knocked back his drink in one swift move.

Evangeline was taken aback by his bold move. Just as she finished her wine, her glass was snatched away without a hint of politeness.

Then came Walter's stem warning in her ear, "No more of this."

He was definitely talking about the wine she had poured without asking.

Evangeline's lips twisted in a wry smile, her feelings a tangled mess.

Walter might not be all that to her, but he sure seemed to care about the idea of a child.

Evangeline's mind was quickly pulled away from such thoughts.

A deluge of kisses swept over her, igniting her senses like sparks to tinder.

The warmth of the wine and the heat of desire swirled together, clouding her mind as her body became like water, effortlessly flowing with his every move.

There, in her entranced gaze, was Walter's strikingly handsome face.

Evangeline's heart was racing with an uncontainable desire.

Her body could not lie. She was craving Walter's touch, and even more, she dreamed of having a child with him.

Her grandfather? He was just a convenient excuse to get what she wanted...

Her breath hitched as she caught the intensity in Walter's gaze deepening. She knew her moment had come.

With a quick move, she intercepted his kiss that was about to land.

"Walter, can we... talk for a sec?" she asked.

Walter shifted, a silent reminder of the passion he was barely keeping in check, and then bluntly responded.
