15 Safe Haven

Yoko’s POV

It took me a little back and forth conversation within my mind before I finally agreed to the idea of sleeping over at Ms. Aashna’s place of residence.

At first I wanted to go with P’11 and the team but it would be rude of me to leave the girls alone.

As we were nearing Miss Aashna’s room, there’s a signage at her door that says “NOT EVERY CLOSED DOOR IS LOCKED JUST PUSH… So Ling tried pushing the door but it requires a fingerprint scan before it will open.

Ling: “Just push my ass.”

Orm: “Oooiii. LingLing Kwong! Behave ok.”

Everybody just laughed at Ling’s funny antic.

Faye just shook her head and had an amused smile at Ling. She made her way through us to open the door to her unit which is connected to the office area.

Faye/Aashna: “Excuse me ladies.” She said as she made her way through the door and placed her thumb on the scanner and voila, we finally had our first glimpse of her very spacious unit. It was very minimalist when it came to decorations but it spoke luxury based on the furniture and the state of the art gadgets and device available.

The first sight that welcomed us as we entered the room is Rafa comfortably sitted on a spiderman bean bag while playing a game on a very large monitor. Beside him was a sleeping dog, which I believe is Sunny.

Becky: “Wooohh, you have a nice set up here Miss Aashna.” she said excitedly.

Freen: “Oh no, please let me be wrong with what I’m thinking.” Freen whispered to me.

A very noticeable embellishment is a huge framed photo that hang in the middle of the entertainment area. It was my P’Mali and Miss Aashna herself. They were standing close to one another with each of there hand rested on each other’s shoulder. They were both showing their sheepish smiles in the photo.

As I stepped closer to take a look, it seemed like a realistic charcoal painting which was meticulously drawn by a very skillful graphic artist.

I was startled when I heard Miss Aashna spoke in her very controlled soft voice. “It was drawn by one of Anntonia’s friends who was a painting protégé. It’s made up of Faye’s ash.”

I was shocked by Miss Aashna’s revelation. I didn’t give her any response, I just stood there frozen and came closer to it as I felt small droplet of tears falling from my eyes. I wiped it immediately and went to the girls when I heard a very excited squeak both from Orm and Charlotte.

Orm: “Hey handsome young man, what u playin’?”

Rafa: “It’s Fortnite.”

Faye/ Aashna: “Rafa, what did I tell you about playing games.?” I heard Miss Aashna spoke in her authoritative yet soft tone.

Rafa: “But Mama, it’s Friday and I don’t have class tomorrow. Mommy Michelle already helped with my homework.”

Faye: “Tsk, you young man always have a way with me.” Miss Aashna said while ruffling Rafa’s hair.

Rafa: “Mamaaaaa…. Not my hair.”

Aashna: “Ok, ok.” she said while raising her two hands up.

Charlotte, Becky & Orm: “Mind if we join you little man. Can we do a multiplayer gaming among ourselves?”

The trio asked excitedly. “Miss Aashna can we join him?” Becky nervously asked.  Rafa gave his puppy dog eyes and little sheepish smile at Miss Aashna. Rafa’s Mama just nooded and gave Rafa a knowing smile and introduced her son to us.

Faye/ Aashna: “Ladies this is my son Ishaan Rafael Adani.” Little Rafa just stood up and gave us a curtsy bow to show his respect. Then Miss Aashna pointed her one hand at us, gesturing for us to introduce ourselves to him, so we did. After each of us gave our name to him, he high fived each of us while repeating each of our names.

Rafa: “Mommy Charlotte, Mommy Ling, Mommy Orm, Mommy Freen, Mommy Becky and Mama Yoko.” He said.

Engfa: “What about me? Mommy Engfa?” Waraha asked. Rafa just stride towards Engfa and scratched his chin while looking up, as if thinking really hard on what to call our friend. Then out of nowhere, the young boy just blurted … “Daddy Wengfa. You’re my Daddy Wengfa.”

Everybody just stood there a little surprised with our mouth slightly opened.

Engfa: “I like you already. Give me double high five Rafa.” and so they did and Engfa just lifted Rafa up and swirled him around. We heard Rafa’s little giggles, loving the way Engfa lifted him around.

Engfa: “Who’s your daddy now, huh!” She asked all of us while giving us a wink. Then Charlotte stepped closer to Engfa and just gave her a playful pinch on the side. I was amused while observing the banter between Rafa and the girls.

After a while Ling asked Rafa. Ling: “Rafa, you called all of us Mommy, except for Yoko whom you called Mama. Did we all hear it correctly, Mama Yoko, right?.” Rafa just shrugged his small shoulders and I could see Miss Aashna did chuckled while taking a deep breath.

Faye/Aashna: “Okay ladies, you can just open the drawer in my room and choose any outfit the suits you. Feel at home and just do your nightly routine. If you need anything, like some girly stuff you can just press the intercom and ask for Anntonia or Michelle’s help. The corresponding number to each unit is listed there.” Miss Aashna informed us.

Freen and Engfa ended up as roomies in one of the rooms while me and Ling shared the other room. Engfa was the one who entered Miss Aashna’s room to borrow some clothes for us,  we did not one want to invade too much of her privacy so we just told her to grab whatever is available  since we are just going to sleep anyway.

After a while Engfa came back bringing with her 9 huge paper bags in between her two hands.

Orm: “Did you go shopping ‘Daddy Wengfa’?”, Orm teased P’Fa.

Engfa: “Yup, in Aashna’s room. You won’t believe how luxurios her room looked. There was also a small LED screen with a slideshow of various photos on her headboard, mostly were snaps and shots of Aashna, Rafa, Anntonia, Michelle and the two huge men who’s always with them.” P’Fa excitedly told us as she handed us the paper bags with H&M Smiley Collection shorts, joggers and T-shirts on it, while the other bag contain new undies with 7 toothbrush plus creams and facial products that we could use. Lastly the remaining bag had 7 brand new Drew House black fluffy sleepers.

(Little did they know that Anntonia planned this ahead of time that’s why those items were readily available for them just in case they decided to stay the night.)

Each of us did our own little night routine and changed into the cute matching clothes that Miss Aashna gave us, according to her we could just keep everything that Engfa got from her room. All 7 of us looked like a member of dance crew competing for a dance tournament because of our matching outfits. It kinda reminded of my P’Mali for the reason that all our garments had a smiley design on it.

Freen, Ling and Me decided to sleep early since we were a little tipsy and a bit tired also due to the busy day that we had before coming to Miss Aashna’s welcome party.

The other four on the other hand, Engfa, Becky, Charlotte and Orm said that they will give Rafa a run for his money and play a little Fortnite game with him.

Surprisingly, Freen, Ling and Me slept comfortably in the unfamiliar environment.

We 3 got up at the same time and stepped out of the room to check on Engfa, Charlotte, Orm and Becky. The sight that welcomed us as we went out of the room was not what we expected. We found all of them sprawled on the huge sleeping mattress laid on the floor, in front of the gaming set-up.

Orm, Becky and Charlotte laid beside one another while Miss Aashna was curled up with Rafa on the end of the mattress with Sunny curled up in between them.

As I was busy staring at Rafa and his mom, Freen suddenly poked me on the side.

Freen: “Hey baby girl, where’s P’Fa?”, she whispered asked. I roamed my eyes around the room and there was our “Daddy Wengfa" nestled near the sliding glass door of the patio with a …

Wait what is that she’s cuddling with? ……
