Chapter 93 - : Going Out

Zhao Zhan had prepared lunch before he left.

He was worried that Yue Jiaojiao would not like to eat leftover food, so Zhao Zhan made dishes that could be kept warm in crock jars.

Since Li Miao had nothing to do, she decided to steam some buns. Then, she placed the dishes that Zhao Zhan had made on the table and could not help but sigh. “I told Zhao Zhan this morning that I’ll be around for lunch and he doesn’t need to cook, but that man misses you too much. If you ask me, there’s no man in our village who’s better than Zhao Zhan.”

Yue Jiaojiao pinched a bun in her hand and pursed her lips into a smile. “Zhao Zhan is very considerate.”

“Li Miao, if you have nothing to do later, let’s go shopping. Aren’t we all building houses? We have to buy the furniture inside. Otherwise, we won’t be able to move in if there’s no furniture after the house is built.”

“That’s true. I’ll cover the tofu first and we’ll leave.”

The two of them finished their meals. Then, Li Miao tidied up the kitchen. The tofu was placed to the side, waiting to be pressed. The remaining soybeans and tofu were placed together in the storeroom that was specially cleaned up for work. Then, she locked it up.

Before Yue Jiaojiao left, she paid attention to the angle of the lock hanging on the door. Then, she locked the courtyard door and went out to the street.

Lin Yunxu, who lived next door to them, had been paying attention to the movements of the two people. When he saw that they had gone out and were not around, he asked Dingli to find an opportunity to sneak into the courtyard and steal the raw materials for making tofu. As for himself, he carefully dressed up and followed behind the two people.

“When I married Da Shan, I never had any new furniture. I wonder if there’s a better carpenter in town…” Li Miao regretted her decision as soon as she left the house. “It should cost a lot of money to make furniture, right? ”

“Don’t worry, Li Miao. The furniture you’re making might last you a lifetime. It’s as difficult to deal it now, but it’ll be good for your future.” Yue Jiaojiao’s posture and expression were relaxed. “You can remake a few of the furnitureyou’ve been using recently. That way, it won’t cost you much copper. As for the rest, you can find a carpenter to make them when you need them in the future.”

Every time Yue Jiaojiao came to Wangshan Town, Zhao Zhan would accompany her, so she basically didn’t need to use her brain to map out where to go. Now that she was out with Li Miao, she had to ask the passersby where the carpenter in town lived.

Master Chen’s family had been carpenters for five generations, and he even had a few apprentices.

When Yue Jiaojiao and Li Miao came to the door, they saw a lot of furniture in different shapes and sizes piled up in the courtyard.

An apprentice saw them and walked up to the two. “Are you two here to buy furniture or to find someone?”

As he spoke, his eyes seemed to be glued to Yue Jiaojiao’s features, unable to move away at all.

“We have a big business deal to discuss with you,” Li Miao said as he stood between the apprentice and Yue Jiaojiao. She scoffed coldly and said, “Call master out.”

With his line of sight blocked, the apprentice finally realized that he had offended her. Blushing, he admitted his mistake and hurriedly went into the room to call for help.

Hearing that there was a potential big business deal, Master Chen walked out of the room and cupped his hands in a salute. “Hello, would you like to order new furniture or buy some from here?”

“We would like to remake some furniture,” Yue Jiaojiao’s voice was clear and melodious. “Can you take a look at how long it will take if I want to remake these furnitures.”

Master Chen hurriedly took the list with both hands.

“This… Young lady…”

Li Miao reminded him, “My sister is already married. Please don’t call her that. Her husband’s family name is Zhao.”
