chapter 172
Sinful Mates 1-3
Evelyn POV
Driving down the highway I was brought to a standstill by a figure in the middle of the road.
The lights illuminating his large intimidating stance. I stopped the car, pulling over and off the road.
Thaddeus walked over, ripping the car door open. I was too mentally fatigued for his shit right now.
â Get out nowâ Thaddues says, reaching for the ignition and ripping the keys out.
âThaddeus I don't want to do this right now just leave me aloneâ I tell him willing myself to not
cry in front of him.
âYou don't get to make a scene at home, then tell me to leave aloneâ He says, I could feel the
darkness consuming him like a raging storm. The air became electrified and I could smell the buzz
of his magic rippling out of him like an aura
âCan I have the keys back pleaseâ I ask him, holding my hand out for them.
âNo, you need to come back and apologiseâ
âApologise for what, I don't have to apologise for shit. I am not the one pretending we didn't
just lose our fucking sonâ I scream at him now pissed off.
âYou think you are the only one that lost him, at least we didnât run off ignoring Mara, you did
that! left us to deal with all this shit because you are weak, fucking weak. Grow up and stop running
from shitâ
âI'm not running you fucking prick, you could have pulled me out, you think I wanted to be
stuck in my own fucking head. It would have took you two seconds to pull me out and you chose
not to, so don't put that on meâ I tell him getting out of the car, if he won't give me the keys I will
fucking walk.
âHere you go running again, soon as shit gets to tough you fucking run just like you ran from
derrick, ran from your fucking childhoodâ I freeze he did not just say that?
âYou did not just say that?" I say spinning around to face him. He shrugs, and I could tell he
wanted to inflict pain, wanted to hurt me. One thing I hate about letting people in, you let your
guard down, they learn your secrets then use them to hurt you, though I never expected him to use
that one on me.
âI know how many opportunities you had to make that stop, you have no one to blame but
yourself, I saw the amount of times you would stand outside that police station but never go in,
instead running away like you are doing now" Of all the people to blame me for what happened I
never thought it would be my own mates.
âIs that what you truly think Thaddeus, that it was my fault. I was fucking child and that has
nothing to even do with now so why would you even bring it up?â
âBecause you ran just like you are doing now because you're weak, ruled by fear. Ruled by
emotionâ He says.
âAnd you're not? Anger is an emotion Thaddeus the only fucking one you are capable of and
you call me pathetic. I had no control over anything from my childhood, and why is that Thaddeus?
because you fucking killed my parents, everything that happened to me is on youâ I tell him. Hurt by
what he said, he knows how much that shit destroyed me and yet he was using it against me. It was
almost worse than what Derrick actually did. He was my mate or supposed to be and yet hearing
that shit come from his mouth would forever haunt me. Exactly why I never came forward, that is
exactly the reaction I feared from everyone, the blame being put on me, them not believing.
Thaddeus knows exactly what he did, watched my life of horror and then had the audacity to blame
me for it.
âYou walk away Evelyn don't come home, you either come home with me now or not at allâ He
screams to my retreating figure.
âThen have nice life Thaddeusâ I tell him before taking off. I ran the entire way to the cafe. It
was on the main street of the city. Imogen opened the cafe with me. When I was pregnant I worked
until I could no more, the bigger I got the harder it got to maneuver around the place. And I
couldn't exactly keep running here. The city was a couple hours from our place. The running was too
much, yet if I drove it would take half the day so we hired others to take over while I remained
home, or went to work with Ryland whose office was a few blocks down from the cafe. During the
week we sometimes stayed at Imogens so we didn't have such a long commute. Thaddeus
grandparents would sometimes take Mara if not she would come to work with me.
Stopping through the front door, the ring of bell above the door signalled my entry. I walk in
flicking lights on. Walking into the kitchen, I start turning on the burners and deep fryers letting
everything heat up when I hear the bell. I walk back to the front of the store, Thaddues walks in
looking around. I canât remember the last time he came in here. He rarely had time with work. I grab
the coffee jugs ignoring him and walking out the back to wash them out before putting them on.
âSo you are done then?â Thaddeus asks but I ignore him. Instead, cleaning up the mess the girls
who worked here clearly forgot to do, even the table needed cleaning, or maybe I was just picky
with my now heightened senses. Everything looked filthy to me, yet I knew those that worked here
were capable and efficient.
âAre you going to answer me?â
âLeave Thaddeus,â I tell him, grabbing the cloth and washing the glass jugs and placing them
upside down on a tea towel to dry.
âNo, legally this place is mine. I donât have to leave, so answer meâ
âYes Thaddeus I am done, we are done I want nothing to do with you now fucking leave. Why
are you trying to pick a fight with me?â
âI'm not you did when you were abusing Orion, who by the way has been raising your daughter
while you were in lala landâ
âWell I would hope so because she is his daughter too, you know it's called parenting you
should try it. I am not some house wife and the fathers are supposed to share the load not that you
would know, you don't do shit for anyone but yourself, now get the fuck outâ I snap at him.
âAre you really going to just walk on us?â
âYou want me gone, I am gone Thaddeus, you got what you want now please just leaveâ
âWhat about Mara?â
âWhat about her?â
âAre you going to walk out on her too?â
âNo I will come get her this afternoonâ I tell him and he growls, the lights flickering when one
of them suddenly bursts.
âYou are not taking my daughter anywhereâ
âWhat are you going to raise her?â I chuckle at the thought that would be a disaster.
âShe stays you can go, but she remains with us so choose Evelynâ
âJust go Thaddeusâ
âBe a shame if this place burnt to the ground?â He says looking around while I try and clean up
the broken glass from the lightbulb choosing to ignore him. Nothing was going to come of me
getting worked up around him. Especially with his magic all he knows is how to hurt people, and me
reacting to him would only end with me being hurt.
âYes, your mother would be devastated, she loves this place, now please leaveâ I tell him.
âFine I will go, but don't come home Evelyn you made your choiceâ Whatever I think to myself
rolling my eyes, I was used to his tantrums. Like an oversized toddler chucking a wobbly when he
doesn't get his way.
Unknown POV
âAny news from the scoutsâ I ask looking at Laura as she enters my den.
âNo pretty much the same, they barely leave the house, but his mate went into that cafe they
runâ
âWhich mate?â
âThe girl. His sister has also gone to Bianca's. We have men following her but keeping a
distance so she doesn't notice them or pick them upâ
âI wonder if she can sense anything?â
âI don't think so we have kept Bianca pretty sedated, though the sister I think knows something
is up, she has been seen looking for her. Went to some old mental hospital too looking for her auntâ
âMental hospital?â
âYeah visited some girl called Lanaâ
âInteresting, keep tabs on Amara. I want to know when she goes home or if she realises
something sinister has happened to her auntâ
âYes sirâ Laura says, about to walk out and back up the stairs to the main house
âOh and Laura, keep an eye on the girl, I might have just come with an idea, especially if she is
going back to work, we might be able to use thatâ
âPossibly, we tapped into the cameras and the footage showed her arguing with her mate, we
couldn't hear what was said but it was apparent they are not on good termsâ She says. I nod, that
does get the mind racing, maybe this wouldn't be as hard as I thought to get revenge on Thaddeus,
maybe his mate might just very well walk into her own trap.
âKeep an eye on her and remember to keep your mind blank, vampires can get in your head
just do what I taught you and you should be fineâ
âWait, you want me to go?â
âYes Laura, I can't very well go, she would recognise me" Laura looks around nervously, before
finally nodding. I watch her jean clad arse walk up the basement steps, hear the erratic pumping of
her heart in her chest, smell her fear. I usually keep her on the sidelines for the most part especially
after the monumental fuck up she caused. But this has just given me an opportunity, one I won't
turn up.
Now I just need to get that bitch of an aunt to start talking, the only problem is, I have her wake
her, too long the sister may pick her up, the last thing I need is her to start looking for her before I
am ready to deal with her.
