chapter 156 Fifty-Four
Sinful Mates 1-3
Thaddeus POV
A month passed quickly; we were still on the move. Evelyn becoming more and more
uncomfortable as each day passed. She only had a month left if that. Pulling up at our next
destination, I pulled the car to a stop. Evelyn asleep beside me with the chair laid back while Ryland
and Orion were crammed in the back. Morning sickness wracked her petite body a couple days after
we found out she was pregnant, despite the size of growing belly she looked frail and sickly and
continued to lose weight. Her eyes hollow and her breathing uneven. We were right the baby was
absorbing everything we fed her.
I managed to finally get a hold of Amara and she said she couldn't see Evelyn's future, which
worried me. My mother told me not to worry that when she was pregnant with us her future
couldn't be seen either but still with the way Evelyn was going, it had us all scared. Our Evie was
human, and Bianca had been doing research for us, found out those that carried supernatural
babies only lived if they had vampire DNA, no human survived before not carrying were baby. Most
survived carrying vampire children, but no human survived werewolf children, and Evelyn was
carrying a tribrid and a strong one at that. I could already sense the magic radiating out of her, yet it
wasn't like my magic. I must have been drawn the shit card when magic was handed out, hit with
the bad stick no scrap that I was hit with the entire damn tree. The child Evie was carrying, its magic
reminded me of Amaraâs pure and good.
We tried to keep it from her not wanting to add onto to her worry. The darkness surrounding
me has been getting worse and just being near her was becoming uncomfortable. Amara thinks it's
because I am picking up on Evelyn's distress. Evie has become wary of me and sometimes I catch
her staring lost in thought, like she could truly see the monster I am, yet she tried her best to cover
it, but it didn't go unnoticed by me.
âBabe, you need to wake upâ I tell her shaking her shoulder, she moves trying to get
comfortable and I give up instead, hopping out of the car and going to her door and opening it.
Ryland was grabbing bags from the boot while Orion went to get the keys for the room. Scooping
her up, she barely moves, her eyes fluttering open before closing again. I follow Orion to the room,
Ryland right behind us. Placing her on the bed, she rolls on her side.
âWe can't keep doing thisâ Ryland says looking down at her and I agree, it was too much on
her. Every day she grew weaker even walking was a challenge sometimes. Though she had moments
where she was full energy mainly late at night, she even craved blood sometimes, which always
made her sex drive spike after she had consumed it, the kid was going to come out with a head like
a golf ball if she didn't settle down, her hormones out of whack majorly. One minute she was horny
and had a burst of energy the next tired and lethargic. Orion spent most of his time reading
pregnancy books or surgical books trying to find way to help her.
âWhat do you want to do?â
âMaybe we should head home. It's been a month and we haven't seen them for two weeks
now,â Orion suggests. I nod maybe, or at least long enough for her to have the baby.
âIt's up to you, Thaddeus,â Ryland says looking down at her again and brushing her hair from
her face.
âWe will head home tomorrow. I think that might be best. I will have Amara and my mother
meet us there to set up some wards with me.â
Ryland climbs on the bed beside her, rubbing his hand over her belly before kissing it.
Heading for the bathroom, I strip off and step in the shower. My mind racing with what I should
do, my thoughts consuming me, and I feel the darkness creeping in. The whispers of my magic
calling me to use it, getting louder. I try to tune them out, try to ignore them but I know it is
pointless it will win, it always does. I shower quickly before shutting the water off and stepping, out
wrapping the towel around my waist. I throw open my bag before grabbing jeans and shirt along
with my hoodie.
âWhere are you going?â
âOutâ I needed to get away, get way before it gets worse, and I attack Ryland again. Luckily,
Evelyn remained asleep dead to the world because even what I did frightened me before Orion
pulled me off him.
âThaddeus don't do this; you're only feeding it when you give into itâ Orion tries to reason. I
know he is right but better then to let it hurt them. Ignoring him I walk out the door, heading for
the main street of this shitty town. The winters chill having no effect on me as I continue walking
until I finally hit a service station, for some reason looking in the glass windows. A woman was
walking in the glass sliding doors, holding a little girl's hand. It was late, for some reason seeing the
woman struck me as odd, it was freezing out and both of them had hardly anything on. I watch
stuck for some reason when I see a shady looking man walk in after her. I could tell by the way he
walked, he was up to no good, usually I would continue on my way, but I found myself frozen, my
eyes glued on the woman unaware of the danger lurking in the service station with her.
My thoughts going to Evie, what if that was her and our child. I was almost stuck in a trance
until I heard the shrill voices of the woman screaming, the cries of the girl as her mother tugged her
behind a shelf near the entry way. The man I could see was holding a gun at the teller and I could
hear his voice from where I stood. The service station attendant holding his hands up, when I see
the man stalk back toward the entry grabbing the woman by her hair. The little kid looking on
helplessly as he drags her mother away toward the register pointing the gun at her head.
I blink only to open my eyes and find myself in the store next to the child. My reaction shocking
me, why did I do that? The little girl sobbing, pulling me out of my tumultuous thoughts, my eyes
going to her crouched behind the shelf sobbing and I look toward the startled service station
attendant. He looks at me with alarm before the man turns, pointing the gun at me. He looked dirty,
tattoos littered his face and piercings. He had a ratty torn leather jacket on, looking every bit the
piece of scum, he is.
âStay back or I shoot the womanâ He yells, pointing the gun back at her head. She had her
hands clutching his that were yanking her hair. She would have been in thirties maybe.
âMummyâ The little girl calls making my eyes dart down to her angelic little face.
âClose your eyes princessâ I tell her, the words leaving my lips before I could stop them. What
the hell was wrong with me? The little girl does what I say, and I turn looking at the man holding the
woman hostage.
âI said stay back man, I will fucking shoot her,â he screams, and I could see the desperation on
his face. He didnât know what to think of me, but his instincts were telling him I was all kinds of
wrong, his fear thick in the air and I felt my eyes bleed black.
I stalk towards him, his hands shaking as he holds the gun before pointing it at me, he pulls the
trigger of the gun, the bang ringing loudly through the shop and bullet hitting me in the shoulder.
âWhat are you?" He stammers taking a step back. I smile, digging my fingers into the hole and
pulling the bullet out, examining it before dropping it on the floor.
âYour executionerâ I tell him not giving him a chance to pull the trigger again before I snap his
neck. The manâs body falling to floor at my feet. The woman screams loudly making my ears ring
and I felt a strong urge to kill her, drain her of her blood. When I hear the little girl.
âMummyâ Her soft unsure voice, making me turn around. The little girl runs to her mother, but I
stop her by stepping in her path.
âPlease, please don't hurt my babyâ The woman cries trying to reach for her. Grabbing the little
girls face I hold her chubby cheeks, the vein pulsating in her neck beneath her delicate skin, hunger
hitting me before she touches my hand her tiny fingers trembling, pulling me out of my bloodlust.
âYou will not remember this man or what happened here once you leave the store. You came to
the store with your mummy to get candy and leftâ I tell her. I watch her eyes glaze over and she
repeats my words before I let her go handing her a chocolate bar from off the shelf.
âPlease I won't tell anyone, I know who you are, I swear I won't say anythingâ The girl's mother
pleads
âI am not going to hurt you, just didnât want her to remember this dayâ I answer her mother,
turning to face her.
âTake her home it is too cold for her to be out in this weatherâ She nods, scooping up her
daughter.
The attendant calls after her but I wave her off. âI'll pay for itâ She nods running back to her car.
Turning around to the attendant, he takes a step back. The blood draining from his face and he puts
his hands up in surrender.
âYou're the man off the news, the dark one,â he stutters.
âCan I get a pack of Marlboro blue 25's," I ask ignoring his question.
âYou want smokes?â he asks like he couldn't understand what I just asked for. I say nothing
staring at the idiot serving me before he grabs the packet chucking them on the counter.
âThe ladies fuel,â I tell him pointing to the till. God, do I have to do this shit for him. He
hesitantly uses the register and I chuck him the cash before turning around and walking out when
he speaks again.
âWhat about the body?â he asks.
âKeep it no good to me,â I tell him chuckling to myself and walking out the door. I shake my
head before running back to the hotel.00O0O
