“Any outcomes?”

Ji Ziming’s eyes darkened as his gaze became gentler. “Ge Ge, are you alright?”

“I’m fine.”

Pei Ge’s lips curled up and the determination in her eyes made Ji Ziming’s heart ache slightly. “Even if she doesn’t want to admit what she did in the past, so what? His voice was gentle as he held her shoulders with one hand and opened the car door with the other.

“I’ll send you back first. I still have some business to handle at the company later. Can you go back first?”

“Ziming, I don’t want to go home. I want to visit my dad.”

Pei Ge got into the car and looked up at Ji Ziming. Her eyes were gentle and she teared up unknowingly.

Perhaps, it was because Pei Ge was already tearing when she walked out of the dark prison, or perhaps it was because she was already tearing from the moment she saw Old lady Qu, or perhaps it was because her eyes were always tearing from the start.

“Okay, I’ll accompany you there.”

Ji Ziming’s voice was gentle as he gently placed Pei Ge’s hand on his lap. “Ge Ge, sit properly. I’ll bring you to see father now.”

Ji Ziming’s eyes were serious as he looked at Pei Ge with determination.

“Ge Ge, do you believe me?”

Ji Ziming’s eyes were filled with anticipation, but when he saw that Pei Ge did not reply, he felt a little uneasy.

“Alright, I believe you.”

Seeing the man swear in front of her, her heart melted in the warm sun. Her lips curled into a bright smile.

Ji Ziming stood up after saying this. Under the warm sunlight, his dark and long back view was actually covered by warmth on Pei Ge’s body. It was as though Pei Ge was a little person he, Ji Ziming, was protecting and living in his shadow.

With that, he closed the door and walked to the driver’s seat.

The two of them sat in the car and did not speak. Pei Ge leaned against the seat and looked out of the car window quietly. Pei Ge leaned back in her chair as the warmth in her palms slowly dissipated. The places that she looked at previously had turned cold.

Ji Ziming’s gaze was gentle and filled with doting.
