As for Ellie who was in her office, her phone did not ring but the alarm did. Sitting in the Qu Groupâs office, Old Lady Qu did not receive a call from her subordinates so she called them.
The call got through quickly, but the first thing she heard was angry shouting.
âWhere are you?!â
She could not believe that her subordinates had actually failed to complete her task.
âMadam, our plan failed. Ji Zimingâs subordinates were too formidable; we couldnât match them so we decided to retreat for now.â
The noise became softer, but the honking of cars blared from the line.
âJi Zimingâs subordinates?â
Old Lady Qu had calculated everything, except for the fact that those people guarding Ellieâs brother were the manâs underlings.
The people she had sent there could not even touch the corner of the shirts Ji Zimingâs subordinates were wearing. They were beaten to a pulp and were forced to flee the scene. Meanwhile, the manâs subordinates gave up chasing because their priority was to ensure the safety of Ellieâs brother.
She only received a call from Ji Zimingâs men after everything calmed down. They called to inform her that her brother was safe.
Meanwhile, Old Lady Qu could no longer sit still. Jumping up, she bellowed, âEven if theyâre his men, couldnât you guys even catch that womanâs brother? If you couldnât, what did I hire you for?â
She was shaking from anger. Her assistant quickly poured her a cup of tea, but she swung her hand and smashed the cup to the floor. The porcelain cup worth over 200,000 yuan was smashed just like that.
âMadam, weâve done our best.â
The caller sounded tactful as he knew that they were at fault. Having seen how terrifying the lady could be when she flared up, he tried to get close to Ellieâs brother but could not.
The people whom Ji Ziming had arranged to be with that womanâs brother were among the best and even the five of them could not beat one.
âGood-for-nothing! Bunch of good-for-nothings!â
Rage gripped Old Lady Qu as she glared. Her eyes were almost spitting fire for she had spent a lot of money yet could early receive good news from this bunch of good-for-nothings.
There were so many good-for-nothings around her and she was not short of them.
Sensing her anger, the caller tried to sound more positive. âThis wasnât our fault, madam. We didnât expect the people there to be very good. Plus, you didnât tell us how many men there would be and how good they were. This wasnât our fault; rather, your information wasnât complete.â
Nobody was better at him at shirking off responsibility.
Old Lady Qu was simmering with anger as she hung up the call. She did not wish to receive another message or call from the man ever again.
It was one step short of success, and at this moment, she could only pray that her granddaughter would not cause any trouble for her in the Ji Group.
On the other side, Qu Jingwan was in the general managerâs office, having a stare down with Ellie.
âMiss Qu, donât you think you have to explain yourself?â
Upon hearing that her brother was safe, Ellieâs heart was finally at ease. Back when Old Lady Qu tried to poach her, the former offered an annual salary several times higher, but she rejected her. There was nothing safer than being under Ji Ziming in the capital.
âWhat should I explain? If you want to change to a new car, my Qu family has money and even if we donât have any, my Ziming is very rich; we can afford several of that old car of yours.â
Qu Jingwan looked disdainful and laughed. âGeneral manager, Iâm very sorry to hear that your car has been thrashed, but you shouldnât accuse others without evidence.â
She was certain that this woman did not have any evidence because she had removed all incriminating evidence from her phone.
âMiss Qu, do you think itâs that easy to enter the Ji Group?â
Ellie smiled lightly, her beautiful eyes were on Qu Jingwan as she hesitated if she should reveal that the security department had all the evidence against this missy, but she chose not to say it in the end. From this missyâs attitude, though, not revealing it would not work.
Unfortunately, the big boss was not in the office now.
Ellie had affection for Ji Ziming and the whole company knew about it. Even Qu Jingwan could sense it when she came to the company on her first day. A bunch of rumors and gossip were being circulated in the pantry.
Qu Jingwan suddenly felt relieved for Pei Ge had yet another competitor. Nonetheless, no matter how many competitors she had, the manâs love for her would not change; in fact, his love for her seemed to be increasing.
Leaving Ellieâs office, her heart sank. Did she have to tell the man about this before Ellie did? If that was so, she would be unable to stay in the company or even the Ji family.
Though she threatened Pei Ge this morning and purposely mocked her, it would be a different story once she returned to Ji family tonight.
Even though the man was not in the office, his people report everything that had happened here to him.
Lying in bed, Ji Zimingâs face grew darker. Pei Ge, who was in his arms, could sense the frosty aura he was emitting. She looked up at him and only asked when he hung up the call, âWhat happened?â
âQu Jingwan got someone to splash red paint on Ellieâs car,â he said aloofly.
âYeah? Isnât that her brand-new, white BMW?â
Pei Ge was baffled and really had no idea where Qu Jingwan got her guts from. Did she not feel better after threatening her this morning?
âRight, Iâve sent someone to settle it.â
He lay down and completely hugged the woman. His long arms wrapped around her small waist as he possessed all of her.
âArenât you going to the company? The whole company might have learned of this; isnât it a little unacceptable if the CEO doesnât show up?â
She reminded him softly, afraid that he would forget about the company when he was engrossed in her.
âMust I settle these kinds of matters as a CEO? If I must settle all things major and minor, wonât I be busied to death?â
