Chapter 485: 191 on behalf of Alian goes to Jiangjing University, broadcast (second update)_1
On the other end of the phone, the butler looked up at the curtain hanging in front of the door.
He slowly let out a breath.
When he received the managerâs call, he thought Ji Shaojun must have had some important event to attend to and had no choice but to ask the manager for leave. He was now calling to ask if Ji needed any help.
After hearing Ji Shaojunâs explanation, did he realize it was not a big deal but rather a task of fetching something for his niece?
The butler was somewhat puzzled. From what he knew of Ji Shaojun, Ji was smart and could prioritize tasks. It seemed unlikely that Ji would do this.
âYou mean, youâre taking leave,â the butler interrupted Ji Shaojun, discussing with him, âjust to fetch something for your niece? Itâs not easy for the manager to find time to teach you, is this thing⦠so important that you have to fetch it?â
âAlian rarely asks for my help.â Ji Shaojun explained.
Unable to persuade him, the butler said, âAlright, then come back early.â
After hanging up the phone, the butler looked towards the direction of the curtain, from behind which an aged voice asked, âJi Shaojun?â
âYes, him,â the butler put his phone back in his pocket, leaned on his cane with one hand and placed the other on his chest, bowing slightly in a very humble manner: âHe took leave to fetch a package for his niece. Actually, Mr. Ji is quite intelligent.â
âHmm.â The aged voice answered indifferently, then fell silent.
He didnât ask what Ji Shaojun went to do, nor did he inquire who the niece was.
After what the Mu Family had been through with Mu Qiong, who else would dare claim to be smart? Others couldnât hold a candle to the late young master Mu Qiong in the eyes of the old master.
The butler, with his head down, didnât wait for further instructions. He bowed slightly and left quietly.

The Changâan Line.
Shen Qing and Ji Shaojun got off the bus. Shen Qing looked across at Jiangjing Universityâs quaint gatehouse with many people taking photos, âAre you sure itâs here? Could Alian have made a mistake?â
âDonât know.â Ji Shaojun looked down at his phone, which displayed his conversation with Bai Lian, and he read it againâ
[Changâan District, 556 Zior Avenue, First Campus Administrative Building, Room 303 on the third floor]
Below it was a phone number.
He led Shen Qing across the street, looked up at the address beside them, and confirmed it was number 556.
Ji Shaojun rarely messaged Bai Lianâ
[Is your thing at Jiangjing University?]
Alian: [Yeah]
Alian: [Whatâs up?]
Nothing much, Ji Shaojun silently put away the phone and approached the security guard. After checking their IDs and visitor log, the guard warmly let them in, âYou two are heading to the complex building, right? See that bus stop in front? Just take the bus when it comes, and get off at the seventh stopâ¦â
Ji Shaojun took note, walked towards the bus stop with calm composure, trying to appear as if it wasnât his first time at such a place.
Shen Qing clutched Ji Shaojunâs sleeve, swallowed nervously, and looked around uneasily.
Jiangjing University was a place beyond her wildest dreams. She had never imagined she would enter one day, âWhat kind of thing does Alian have here?â
With many students and some from other schools coming to attend lectures passing by, nobody seemed to notice they looked like country bumpkins marveling at sophisticated surroundings. Shen Qing gradually relaxed.
They soon found the administrative building and entered Room 303.
The office in Room 303 was small, with a long table in the middle and eight chairs on each side. Five people were arranging documents inside. A round-faced man approached to ask whom Ji Shaojun and Shen Qing were looking for.
Upon hearing they were fetching something for Bai Lian, the round-faced manâs eyes widened, âYou are Bai Jianâs uncle and aunt? Nice to meet you, uncle and aunt.â
Upon hearing the name âBai Jian,â the other four people looked over curiously.
The round-faced man shook hands with Ji Shaojun and Shen Qing, invited them inside, and poured them tea, âPlease wait, my colleague is bringing the memorabilia.â
In the meantime, he tried to subtly gather information about Bai Lian.
Ji Shaojun was cautious, always able to keep his composure. Holding his teacup, he expertly avoided their probing questions. The office staff didnât manage to learn much and were slightly disappointed.
Ten minutes later, the memorabilia was delivered.
The man handed it to Ji Shaojun with a formal gesture, âThis is Bai Jian studentâs commemorative medal.â
Ji Shaojun looked at the exquisite gift box in the manâs hand, with a landscape painting on the outside and just the word âLiang.â
Not knowing what was inside, but seeing how seriously the man regarded it, he accepted with both hands, âThank you, comrade.â
âYouâre welcome,â the man smiled, looking down at the medal, âThis medal is quite hard to come by. Only eight newcomers received it this year, and your niece is the first to not collect it in person.â
