Chapter 511 The Chance To Become A Mother
Josiah, holding the baby, froze as well. âWhat did she just say?â
Aurora, sensing the shift in the atmosphere, thought she had done something wrong and strained to repeat what she just said, parting her tiny, almost toothless mouth. âMamaâ¦â
This time, what she said was so clear that it was impossible to ignore.
Lysander teared up and chuckled, caressing Auroraâs face. âIâm not your mother.â
Yet, Aurora didnât stop and called her âMamaâ over and over again.
Lysander turned away, closing her eyes to suppress my emotions.
She once had the opportunity to become a mother, but that was all in the past now.
Josiah lowered his gaze and fell silent for a moment.

When the baby noticed that Lysander was ignoring her, she raised her tiny hand to touch Lysanderâs face. before extending her short arms toward her, indicating that she wanted Lysander to hold her,
Josiah, noticing Lysander still looking disheartened, gently reminded her, âShe wants you to hold her.â
Only then did Lysander manage to compose herself, gingerly cradling the baby in her arms. The tiny, soft creature nestled in her embrace trusted her completely, offering a healing, warm sensation while leaning against her. Yet, inexplicably, waves of melancholy still filled her heart.
Josiah didnât offer any words of comfort and simply stood silently by her side, keeping her company.
The childrenâs playground was tucked away beneath towering plane trees, creating an atmosphere of serene tranquility.
That was until a passionate voice echoed from afar and disrupted the serenity. âLysander!â
Lysander heard Daphneâs voice and turned around in confusion, wondering why her best friend would be there. Once confirming it was her, Lysander broke into a warm smile.
Daphne hadnât seen Lysander for a while and had been missing her, practically jogging all the way toward her. She gasped upon seeing the baby in her arms and Josiah standing beside her, asking, âWhat⦠Whatâs going on here?â
Lysander saw the look of surprise written all over Daphneâs face and was worried her loud voice might attract a crowd, so she quickly shushed her. âKeep your voice down! Youâll scare the kid!â
Aurora tilted her head and wasnât shy at all, gazing straight at the unfamiliar woman.
Daphineâs eyes lit up when she saw how adorable and delicate Aurora was. For a moment, she forgot all her questions and reached out to pinch the babyâs chubby face. Beaming, she exclaimed, âSo soft! Whose child is this? How adorable.â
Lysander spoke softly. âBe gentle. I donât know how to soothe her if she starts crying.â
Daphne, totally enamored by such an adorable baby, pulled out her phone and snapped a few photos.

Chapter 511 The Chance To Become A Mother
âThe mother of this child is Jo⦠Mr. Guerraâs friend. Itâs good that youâre here. I was just about to discuss something with you.â Lysander said.
âThat can wait. Guess what? I brought a surprise along. If it werenât for him, Iâd probably still be stuck on the mountain road waiting for the insurance company to come rescue me.â As Daphne spoke, she turned around to look behind her.
Right then, Aiden greeted his brother respectfully, âAdrian.â
Adrian hummed in response but paused in his tracks upon seeing Josiah and the child in Lysanderâs arms.
Josiah, however, wore a smile and greeted, âDr. Sutton.â
âIâm here for Lysander,â said Adrian.
Josiah turned to look at Lysander. âDr. Suttonâs here for you, Go ahead. Iâll take care of the baby.â
Adrianâs face fell as soon as Josiah said that.
After placing the child in Josiahâs care, Lysander approached Adrian. âDr. Sutton.â
Adrian averted his gaze from Josiah and the baby, asking softly, âI havenât heard from you these past few days, but I know that you fell ill in Apex City. How are you feeling now?â
âThanks for asking. Iâm much better now.â
Adrian flashed a bitter smile. âWeâve only been apart for about a week, yet it seems like weâve grown quite
distant.â
âHave we? Perhaps itâs just because thereâs been a lot going on lately.
A hint of disappointment flickered in Adrianâs eyes, yet he maintained a smile on his face. âI see. By the way, White Coat has recently started to shed its fur. Itâs grown a lot bigger than before. When will you.
come to see it?â
âMama⦠Mamaâ¦â Aurora kept gazing in Lysanderâs direction, but she was too far away, so all she could was wave her tiny hands in the air.
Lysanderâs heart would clench every time she heard Aurora call her that.
âThere, there. Iâll take you to her.â Josiah adjusted the babyâs posture in his arms before approaching. âLysander, the baby wants you.â
She reached out to take Aurora from Josiah after a moment of hesitation. âAll right, give her to me.â
Josiah carefully placed Aurora into/Lysanderâs arms, only letting go upon ensuring the baby was secure. âSheâs definitely more attached to you.â
Lysander answered, âChildren of this age are usually most attached to their mothers. Her mother isnât here, and I just held her for a while, so sheâs probably more familiar with me now.â
A faint smile finally graced Adrianâs face when he heard that. âIs her mother really that busy that she has to leave her child in someone elseâs care?â
âLooking after a child is quite tiring, and occasionally she might want to unwind a bit. By the way. Dr.

Sutton, the transition procedures for Thorne Constructions and Energies are almost complete. Iâll be here to familiarize myself with the documents recently. If youâre too busy, you might want to consider finding a foster home for White Coat first.â
Adrian, however, said, âI can handle it, but Iâm worried that since you havenât seen White Coat for so long. it might start to forget youâre its owner.â
Lysander smiled bitterly. âActually, itâs good that White Coat thinks youâre its owner. After all, its previous owner is your friend. Plus, I donât have the time to take care of it now and canât give it the companionship it needs. It might be better to find it a more suitable owner.â
Adrian said in a serious tone. âRina gave you the dog, so you are its forever owner. Anyway, focus on your work first. You can do itâ
Lysander chuckled. âThank you. Oh, by the way, are you here for your younger brother?â
Aiden had been ignored after greeting Adrian and was now standing in the corner wordlessly.
He glanced at Josiah and then at Adrian before continuing to shrink into the corner.
Adrianâs tone remained as calm and gentle as ever. âOh, he is none of my business. I just happened to run into Daphne on the road when she had a flat. She mentioned she was coming to see you, so I gave her a HA
âYeah, encountering Adrian was the best thing that happened to me today,â Daphne agreed, showering him with praises.
âI finally understand just how rare calm people are.â Daphneâs insinuation was so obvious that she practically spelled Josiahâs name out loud. As if that wasnât enough, she added, âUnlike some people who exact revenge any chance they get, ruining my plans.â
