Chapter 495
The Charming Ex-Wife ( Lysander and Josiah ) Online Novel
Chapter 495 Not A Problem
By the time they returned to Harborbrook, it was already afternoon.
One by one, the passengers disembarked the plane and waited for their luggage.
Lysanderâs suitcase wasnât particularly large. Just as she was about to lift it down, Josiah had already beaten her to it. He effortlessly picked up her suitcase and placed it on the luggage cart.
Seeing her standing still, he knowingly asked, âWhy are you looking at me?â
This place was nothing like Apex City.
There were significantly more people in Harborbrook who knew Josiah than in Apex City.
âHand it over to me. I can push the luggage cart myself.â
Josiah shifted her hand away and pushed the luggage cart, leading the way ahead. âA single luggage cart can hold two suitcases. Letâs not hog public resources,â he said.
Lysander gritted her teeth and chased after him with a quick jog.
She had assumed that Josiah would walk away faster, but he had stopped not too far ahead, appearing somewhat lost in thought as he stared into the distance.
âIs Lysanne here?â
Regaining his composure, Josiah furrowed his brow and said, âCan we not bring her up again in the future?â
âWhat were you looking at then?â
Josiah pointed at somewhere not too far from them.
A petite girl was perched atop a suitcase. Dressed in a white gauzy dress, she was gently pushed forward by
her father.
âHow old is that girl?â
âProbably a little over one year old, but not quite two yet.â
Josiah found himself somewhat entranced as he remarked, âSheâs quite adorable.â
A pang struck Lysanderâs heart, and she averted her gaze. âAll children are adorable. Give me the stroller,â she said.
Josiah took a step forward, pushing the cart ahead of her and skillfully avoiding her hand. However, his mood had clearly dipped. âItâs fine, Iâve got this,â he said.
âIâm not going this way. Iâm heading over there to hail a taxi,â Lysander interjected.
Josiah, however, headed straight for the parking lot. âIâll give you a ride home. Itâs on the way.â
âIâm not going home.â

Josiah asked, âWhere do you want to go?â
âIâm going to the hospital to check on Michelle.â
âItâs rather late today. Besides, havenât you been video calling Michelle every day these past few days?â
Lysander confessed. âIâm worried about her. As long as Zachary is still here. I canât let my guard down completely.â
âWell, I donât think he dares to make any moves for now.â
âWhat did you do?â
âI only reminded him to stop pushing his luck.â
Lysanderâs expression suddenly turned serious. âYouâre not thinking ofâ¦â
âDonât you ever think about it? His presence is like a ticking time bomb. He is bound to explode sooner or later. If he disappears from this world, your family can finally live in peace.â
Lysander didnât know what to reply.
She was unable to answer that question.
Deep down, she couldnât deny that the crazy thought had flashed across her mind.
Upon noticing her slightly pale complexion, Josiah chuckled and gently said, âIf he had threatened me with you in the past, he would have vanished from this world already. But now⦠I want to build up some good karma for our child. I hope she can be reborn into a loving family.
A dull ache swept over Lysanderâs heart. âCan we not talk about this?â
âAll right, letâs not talk about it anymore.â
Carol, along with the driver, was already waiting at the arrival gate ahead of time.
Carol was initially surprised to see Josiah carrying so much stuff with both hands, but then she noticed Lysander just a few steps behind him. Her expression turned understanding as she smiled and greeted them, âMr. Guerra, Ms. Thorne.â
Josiah took the opportunity to hand his luggage to the driver, gesturing for him to put it directly into the trunk.
âCarol, itâs been a while. Iâm sorry for the trouble Thorne Constructions and Energiesâ affairs have been causing you recently. I appreciate you sorting out all the documents. And I owe you one for delivering the invitation to the summit to me.â
Carol smiled. âAll of this is part of my job. I heard that youâve been unwell, Ms. Thorne. Are you feeling better now?â
âIâm feeling better now, thank you.â
Lysander was acquainted with Carol. At that moment, she was preoccupied with greeting her, unaware of the driverâs actions. By the time she wanted to grab her luggage, she realized the driver had already returned to the car.

Josiah casually bent down and seated himself in the back row of the car.
Seeing Lysander approach, Josiah promptly pushed open the car door and said, âGet in.â
Carol quickly smoothed things over, saying, âMs. Thorne, please get in the car. After all, youâre now living next door to Mr. Guerra. Itâs on the way, so you should go back together. Itâs quite hard to get a taxi at this hour.â
Before Lysander could say anything further, Carol had already swiftly sat on the passenger seat.
Josiah said, âCome on up. Donât keep everyone waiting.â
Carol had already settled into the front passenger seat and struck up a conversation with the driver. Lysander looked around, left with no other choice but to sit beside Josiah in the back seat.
Josiah, being considerate, had deliberately moved over to give her ample space, also creating some
distance between them.
Upon seeing the situation, Lysander sat close to the door.
âThank you, Mr. Guerra.â
Josiah said, âIâm not the one driving. You should thank the driver, not me.â
Carol, having witnessed this scene through the rearâview mirror, suspected that they were having a tiff. She took the initiative to strike up a conversation with Lysander. âMs. Thorne, I heard that you plan to take over Thorne Constructions and Energies upon your return. Iâd like to congratulate you in advance. When we were processing the paperwork, I didnât expect it would happen so quickly.â
âI never thought this day would actually come,â Lysander confessed. Viewing Carol as a mentor in the corporate world, Lysander couldnât help but admit, âMy understanding of the industry and Thorne Constructions and Energies is still far from sufficient.â
When Josiah was managing Thorne Constructions and Energies, Carol was his most capable assistant. Carol said reassuringly, âYou donât need to worry too much. The personnel structure of Thorne Constructions and Energies isnât complicated, and the financial situation is pretty decent. It might be a bit tough to handle the company at the start, but if thereâs anything you need help with, you can come to me.â
Lysander casually asked, âActually, there is something. Carol, do you have anyone to recommend? If I can have an assistant as capable as you, Iâm sure we can achieve twice the results with half the effort.â
âSure, Iâll keep an eye on the current employees at Thorne Constructions and Energies. Iâll provide your with a list in a few days for you to take your time and choose from, Ms. Thorne.â
âOkay. I really appreciate your help.
Carol replied, âItâs my duty. But after all, Iâm just a secretary. Itâs difficult for me to assist with business. matters. Ms. Thorne, you can ask Mr. Guerra directly about this.â
The smile on Lysanderâs face faded slightly.
t was clear that Carol was speaking up for her own boss.
Mr. Guerra has other important tasks to attend to. I should start learning on my own first. It wonât be right o disturb Mr. Guerra.â

âItâs not a problem,â Josiah said as he leaned on the car window frame with one hand and rubbed his temple. Then, he added. âCarol, please inform the reception desk and security. From now on, whenever Ms. Thorne arrives, escort her directly to the CEOâs office.â
âYes, Mr. Guerraâ
