Chapter 484 You Expect Me To Invite You Personally

Lysander was worried that the food inside might give off a smell, so she tightly clutched the top of the brown paper bag.

Whatever Josiah was saying, she barely paid any attention.

However, it wasn’t long before Josiah finished his speech. By the time Lysander had gathered her thoughts, all she heard was him thanking the audience, followed by the thunderous applause from the crowd.

The host took the microphone from his hand and said, “Thank you, Mr. Guerra, for your concise and insightful sharing. We also appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to participate in this summit. I’m sure everyone present has gained a lot from it. Now, moving on…”

The host glanced at the cue card in his hand, ready to proceed to the next segment.

“Let’s take a break,” said Josiah.

The host was stunned for a moment. “What?”

Josiah elaborated, “The meeting has been going on for over an hour now, so let’s all take a break.”

The host immediately understood, nodded, and said, “Having just heard so many unique insights from industry elites, everyone must be tired. The summit will be adjourned for half an hour. Everyone, please take a break, and we’ll continue half an hour later.”

As soon as the word ‘break‘ was mentioned, the venue became noisy immediately.

Indeed, there were quite a few bigwigs who attended the meeting that day. Many took the opportunity to network, and others seized the chance to connect with peers in the industry. Everyone had their own agenda, and a lot could be accomplished in half an hour.

The girl next to Lysander asked, “I’m going to the restroom, care to join me? I reckon the next chance won’t be until lunch break, so we better seize the opportunity.”

Lysander hadn’t eaten anything in the morning, hence she didn’t feel the need to go.

“I’m fine staying here.”

“Ah, alright then.”

“Could you tell me where in the summit venue is less crowded and a bit quieter?”

The girl pouted. “You’ve seen it yourself. There are hundreds of people here today. The venue is only so large, so it’s impossible to find a quiet corner. I bet there’s even a line for the ladies.”

The room was a lounge prepared for him by the summit. It contained a spacious couch, and a massive LCD display screen adorned the wall.

Josiah pulled her down to sit on the couch. “Quick, start eating. I went a long way to bring this back. It’ll get cold soon.”

Lysander asked, “Where’s Tiffany?”

“Having fun somewhere. She finds these kinds of summits incredibly dull.”

“This place is quite secluded. There aren’t many places to grab breakfast around, and after some searching, I could only find a bakery stall. But, it was quite crowded, so the food should be decent. Give it a try.”

The croissant had a delicate, crispy pastry. When biting into it, one could taste the melted chocolate inside.

Lysander nibbled on her croissant, taking small bites. As she gulped down a bag of soy milk, a warm sensation filled her stomach.

“Where did you buy this? Was it far?”

Josiah asked, “It’s alright. Why do you ask?”

“Did you drive there?”

Josiah said irritably, “Given the traffic conditions in the capital, who would dare to drive during the morning rush hour? It’s a nightmare.”

own.

Lysander asked warily, “What are you doing?”

“What could I possibly do in just a few minutes?”

As he spoke, he took hold of her calf, gently kneading it with his knuckles.

The strength in his hands was quite considerable. Lysander, whose legs were already aching, felt tears welling up in her eyes almost immediately.

She brushed his hand aside. “No need, no need. It’ll be all right in a few days.”

“Once I give you a massage, you’ll feel better. Bear with it for a bit. It’ll be over soon.”

“No, I really can’t. It hurts too much.”

Yet, Josiah didn’t let go. He simply started massaging on his own accord.

Lysander was in unbearable pain, her eyes welling up with tears in no time. With people coming and going outside, she didn’t dare to speak too loudly. “Is it over? Can we stop now?”

Seeing her dramatic reaction, Josiah finally decided to let her be, asking. “Can you walk back?”

“It’s not that bad,” Lysander said. “I used to stand for hours in the operating room before. I’m sure I can handle it.”

She reached out to take her high heels back and struggled to slip them onto her feet.

When she stood up, she was still somewhat shaky, but she felt much better than before. The soreness she had earlier had lessened a bit.

It seems that Josiah had put in a lot of effort into learning how to massage, and it isn’t just for show. All for the sake of Lysanne.

“It’s about time. I’ll head back first. You should wait a bit after I leave before doing the same.

After uttering those words, Lysander swiftly stepped out of the lounge. She quickly made her way into the venue and returned to her own seat.
