Chapter 442
The Charming Ex-Wife ( Lysander and Josiah ) Online Novel
Chapter 442 I told You To Stop
The man brushed the back of his head, the sticky residue on his fingertips evidently infuriating him.
Perhaps his initial intention was merely to steal something. If his plans were exposed, he could easily flee, as a woman wouldnât possibly be able to stop him.
But now that blood had been shed, a surge of violent intentions instantly welled up within him.
He didnât immediately run off. Instead, he stood his ground, looking toward the direction of the main gate, seemingly torn between making a swift escape or seeking revenge first.
But Lysanderâs cries were quick to draw the attention of the neighbors. The thief had no choice but to react swiftly, moving directly to restrain her. He forcefully covered her mouth and pinned her entire body against the wall.
In the darkness of the night, Lysander leaned against the chilling wall, her whole body shivering from the
cold.
With a thunderous rumble, another clap of thunder exploded in the pitchâblack night.
At last, Lysander could clearly see the face of the person before her.
With small eyes and a squareâshaped face, his long hair shrouded half of her visage. The terror etched on his features, combined with the forceful grip on her, made his appearance somewhat distorted and frightening.
Suddenly, she noticed an unusual spark in this manâs eyes.
He had initially been glaring at her fiercely, but now, aided by the incessant flashes of lightning and thunder outside the window, not only did she get a clear view of the man, but he also got a clear view of her.
Due to her sleep, her hair was let loose, and the recent entanglement had left it slightly disheveled. She was only wearing a thin nightgown, which had been ripped open at the neckline during the earlier skirmish. The left strap had fallen down, hanging loosely over her upper arm.
Almost her entire left shoulder was exposed.
The manâs gaze was sharp, slicing across her face with precision before trailing down her neck, finally resting on her left side, barely covered by her nightgown.
Lysander became aware of the boneâchilling danger.
âListen to me.â Lysander struggled to suppress the fear within her, attempting to use words to make him back off. âIf you leave now, I wonât call the police, and Iâll pretend today never happened. If youâre in a desperate situation, I can assist you to some extent within my means. But think it through. Attempted theft doesnât land you in jail, but if you dare lay a hand on me, I will certainly accuse you of assault. Iâve seen your face. I can describe your physical features to the police. A quick check of the surveillance footage and finding you wonât be difficult. If you try to escape punishment by killing me, itâs the same. Thereâs surveillance here, so you canât run. Ruining the rest of your life for a moment of passion is not worth it.â
The man halted, his gaze becoming a bit clearer, lacking the earlier confusion of tangled emotions.

door is right there. You may leaveâ
After a few seconds of silence, she suddenly heard the man let out a cold huff.
Immediately, she found herself yanked by a strong force and flung onto the couch. Without delay, his weight pressed down on her. His other hand began to roam her body, seeking an opportunity to tear apart her nightgowIL
In the darkness, the sound of tearing fabric echoed.
A buzzing noise filled Lysanderâs mind. Almost instinctively, she mustered all her strength to drive her knee upwards, aiming directly at the manâs vulnerable spot.
The man let out a low groan of pain, momentarily loosening his grip on her. Seizing the opportunity, she scrambled to the other side of the couch. Just as she was about to tumble down, that nauseating hand of his reached out for her again.
Logical arguments had ceased to be effective, and Lysanderâs last hope had been shattered. Left powerless, he could only muster all his strength to cry out for help. âHelp me!â
Boom!
The rumble of thunder grew increasingly louder, quickly followed by a sudden downpour that came pouring down.
Lysanderâs cries for help were largely drowned out by the thunderstorm outside the window. Barely any of it could reach beyond.
In an instant, Lysander was consumed by despair.
The man pulled her back onto the couch once again. This time, in the midst of chaos, he covered her mouth and nose, exerting far more force than before. This left her gasping for air in no time.
The sensation of suffocation intensified, the darkness before her eyes becoming so dense that she couldnât tell whether her eyes were open or closed. All she could feel was the dampness of lips and tongue, crawling on her neck like a slimy creature, inducing both fear and nausea.
In the next moment, the heavy weight pressing down on her abruptly vanished.
Immediately after, there was a dull thud of bodies colliding. The footsteps were chaotic and heavy as if the floor itself was trembling.
Through her increasingly blurred vision, Lysander spotted another towering figure rushing from the balcony into the living room amidst the darkness. Drenched in rain and stepping over scattered shards of glass, he forcefully pinned the man who had been on top of her to the ground.
At first, the man was able to resist a time or two, but the person suppressing him was like a crazed lion, launching harsh and relentless attacks. Soon, the man lost his ability to resist, left with no choice but to passively endure the beating.
Lysander lifted her hand, which throbbed from being gripped so tightly, and shakily rose from the couch. Whether it was from fear or the cold wind pouring in from the broken window, she was shivering uncontrollably.
âPleaseâ¦â

He had barely begun to plead for mercy when another heavy punch landed, forcing him to swallow his
words.
âDâmn it!â
Cursing under his breath, he threw a punch. The manâs head was forcefully knocked to the side, and a mouthful of blood spat out. It seemed as though he had been hit in a critical spot, losing all consciousness and collapsing limply onto the ground.
Gradually, Lysander regained her senses. Noticing something amiss with the thief, she immediately cried out âJosiah
Despite the chaos, Josiah continued unabated. With the help of the light filtering in from the window, Lysander saw that the thiefâs face was now completely covered in blood. Several teeth had been knocked out, and his original features were no longer recognizable.
She blindly stumbled toward him in the darkness, frantically grabbing his arm. âStop it! Stop it now! Youâre going to kill him!â she cried out.
Josiahâs eyes were bloodshot, seemingly deaf to everything as he continued his actions. With Lysanderâs strength, she simply couldnât stop him.
Blood spattered, gradually pooling on the ground into a sticky puddle.
Even acting bravely for a just cause would become impossible if things continued like this.
Lysander tightly clung onto his hand. loudly reprimanding, Josiah! I told you to stop!â
This single utterance finally managed to halt his actions.
Josiahâs fist, poised to strike, froze midâair. He slowly turned his head to look at Lysander standing beside him. His gaze, though close, was filled with ferocity and madness.
Despite having previously witnessed his chilling act of submerging someone in water at the private dining restaurant, Lysander was still somewhat frightened.
His gaze was as if it could truly kill.
Lysander licked her lips, murmuring softly. âIâm okay. You need to calm down first.â
Josiah thoroughly examined her from head to toe as if he was earnestly checking to see if she had been harmed
He discarded the man who had been beaten to the brink of unconsciousness and first helped her to stand. Only then did he remove his coat, wrapping it around her protectively.
