Howard opened his mouth but didn’t utter a single word after a moment of hesitation.

Lysander sighed helplessly. “Didn’t you say this matter had nothing to do with Josiah?”

Daphne sounded relaxed. “Grandma’s getting on in years, after all, and we’re prepared for any outcome. This surgery was indeed timely. All we can do now is to leave the rest to fate.”

Lysander asked, “How are things going at Mr. Everhart’s factory?”

Daphne chuckled wryly. “How can we even compare to Guerra Group? Since Josiah wants to collaborate, no one will choose us. I’ve been talking to my dad these past few days, mentally preparing him for the worst. If things really don’t work out, we might as well shut down the company. After all, we still have some savings at home. He could take my mom on a vacation and relax.”

“Daphne, do you have Zane’s WhatsApp?”

“Yeah, I bet that guy is still lurking around in Instagram playing some sort of undercover game. What about it? Did he offend you?”

“He doesn’t want to see me?” asked Lysander.

Zane chuckled awkwardly. “Josiah was so devoted to you before this. He even stayed overnight at the hospital for your sake, sleeping on those uncomfortable cots and suffering burn wounds. And what did he get in return? Your rejection. Any man in his position will choose to give up. You have no idea what he was like in the past. We’re all surprised to see him humble himself and do all those things for you.”

“So you got in touch with him just now, right?”

“Yes,” replied Zane after some hesitation.

“His exact words were that he didn’t want to see me?”

Zane paused for a moment. “He didn’t answer the call, but…”

“Was it that woman from Skywatch?”

“No.”

“Then was it Lysander?”

“Not her, too.”

“Then who is it?”

Zane spoke helplessly “Even I don’t know who that man is and that’s the scariest part”

Lysanne was still Josiah’s fiancée in name, but last night, he had left Skywatch with another woman in his arms without bothering to hide from the public as if he wasn’t worried about media exposure and didn’t care about being photographed. Furthermore, another unfamiliar woman had answered his phone this morning.

It was still early, not even nine o’clock yet.
