Chapter 411 Shameless Couple

When she returned home in the evening, Lysander explained to her parents the unexpected situation that had occurred at the Everhart residence that day.

The two elders expressed their understanding.

Maverick said, “At our age, we all have elders to care for and children to look after. And most of the elderly are in their seventies or eighties. This is something we can understand. We can have a meal anytime. Tending to Old Mrs. Everhart’s health is of utmost importance.”

Lysander gave a hum of acknowledgment. “Mom, Dad, how about I take you out for dinner now?”

Maverick waved his hand dismissively. “I’m so fed up. I don’t even feel like eating anymore.”

Confused, Lysander looked toward her mother.

Laura helplessly said, “It’s Michelle. She mentioned something about a high school get–together, and not long after she came back, she went out again. It’s already so Tate, yet she hasn’t returned. I’ve been calling her, but no one’s answering. She’s a young girl, and it’s so dangerous for her to be out late at night.”

Maverick, infuriated, slammed his hand on the table. “No, I must go find her.”

Laura grabbed his arm. “Where are you going to look for her? Do you have any idea where she might be?”

Lysander asked in confusion, “Did Michelle mention where she was going when she left?”

“She didn’t bother mentioning it, considering how distracted she was. Before I could even finish my sentence, she had already left.”

Lysander said, “Let’s do this. You two should eat first. I know a few of her high school friends..I’ll ask them where they are gathering, and then I’ll go pick up Michelle.”

Once she stepped outside, Lysander made a few phone calls.

However, the outcome was somewhat worrisome as Michelle’s classmates were completely unaware of any planned get–together.

Lysander couldn’t help but feel irritated. Ever since she started university, she had been keeping a lot of secrets.

The entire building was designed in the style of the Rodunstian era, with eight large pillars at the front, all in a pure gold hue. Uniformed security guards stood at the entrance, giving it an appearance far from the average karaoke bar.

At first glance, it was clear that this was not a place where a university student could afford to spend.

As she was entering, the security guard stopped her, saying, “Are you alone?”

Lysander looked up and asked. “Is this a karaoke bar?”

“Can’t a person go to karaoke alone?”

The security guard shook his head. “I’m sorry. Please come in.”

Even though she had mentally prepared herself, upon entering. Lysander was still taken aback by the sheer opulence of the decor.

When Lysander turned around, Aiden was also somewhat taken aback.

He was slightly tipsy, not appearing entirely lucid, with a faint hint of drunkenness. “You’re here? Are looking for Josiah? Come on. Let me take you inside.”

After having a bit of alcohol, Aiden grew bolder. He went behind Lysander and gave her a gentle push.

Lysander simply couldn’t withstand the strength of a grown man, and with his push, she was sent stumbling forward several steps, crashing straight into someone.

The scent of tobacco was overwhelming on that person.

The reek prompted her to frown. In her fluster, she apologized, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to—”

“Josiah!” Aiden bellowed in fury, his face a playful grin as he approached to claim his credit. “Guess who’s here?”

When Lysander lifted her head, she found herself looking directly into Josiah’s familiar face.

However, Josiah was quite unlike his usual self.

Beyond the overpowering scent of smoke that clung to him, there was also a subtle hint of women’s perfume.

Upon closer inspection, she realized that the fragrance originated from the long–haired beauty leaning against Josiah’s shoulder.

The woman’s curly, raven–black hair partially concealed her face, but one could still make out her crimson lips and fair complexion. She wore a fiery red bodycon dress that accentuated her figure, making her look incredibly alluring.

She seemed to have had a bit too much to drink as well. Unsteady on her feet, she leaned on Josiah’s shoulder, murmuring something. The woman’s lips brushed against Josiah’s collar, leaving behind a few traces of her crimson lipstick.

Lysander didn’t recognize the woman.

Or rather, she had never seen that woman before.

Clearly, that woman didn’t recognize her either.

She nonchalantly brushed her hair back with a myriad of grace, her eyes half–closed. Resting her chin on Josiah’s shoulder, she asked with a faint smile, “Who is this?”

Josiah remained silent.

Aiden forestalled him and quickly replied, “She’s Josiah’s official wife. All right, get up already and keep your distance from Josiah. Can’t you read the room now that his wife is here?”

“Wife?” The woman turned her head and asked Josiah, “Is she your wife?”

Wearing an indifferent expression, Josiah responded curtly, “No.”

The woman chuckled. “That’s right. I’ve met your wife before, and she doesn’t look anything like this. Mr. Aiden, have you had too much to drink? How could you mistake two completely dissimilar people?”

Aiden was immediately indignant. “The woman you met wasn’t his real wife. She was an imposter. This one here is the genuine one.”

The woman chuckled. “Mr. Guerra, how could you have so many wives?”

Aiden was a bit irritated, “I’ve already told you she’s Josiah’s legitimate wife. Why won’t you believe me? 1

“Aiden!” Zane appeared from seemingly nowhere and grabbed Aiden’s arm. “You’ve had too much to drink. Let me help you inside.”

Zane appeared to be the most sober among them. He cautiously glanced at Lysander, offered an awkward smile, and gave a slight nod as a form of greeting. Then, he helped Aiden back to their private room.

Consequently, Lysander was left alone with the shameless couple, who had clearly had too much to drink, in the lounge.

“You said you have a gift for me, didn’t you? What’s with the mysterious act? You even had to mention it.” Josiah turned to glance at the woman, who was practically latching onto him, and chuckled. “Where is it? Are you tricking me?”

The woman gave him a flirtatious glance. “Oh, I wouldn’t trick you, Mr. Guerra. The gift is already prepared. It’s in the hall outside. Come with me, and you’ll see”

“Hal Playing mysterious,” Josiah scoffed.

“Come on, come on. You’ll understand once you come with me.”

Despite her own clumsiness, the woman still managed to walk off into the distance in her high heels, pulling Josiah along with her.

The sharp click–clack of her stiletto heels echoed on the marble floor. Josiah simply let her have her way, allowing her to lead him by the hand around a corner and away into the distance.

He even addressed Lysander differently now.

Lysander easily went along with it. “Mr. Yarrow.”

With a bitter smile, Zane said, “It seems like you and Josiah have truly parted ways this time.”

Lysander gave a hum of affirmation.

Zane let out a sigh. “No wonder Josiah has been acting so out of character lately. It’s as if he’s become at different person. But he wouldn’t tell anyone why. I had a hunch that there might be some issues between you two, and it turns out I was right.”
