Josiah embraced her from behind. “Lysander, will you change my dressing?”

“How about I transfer another one hundred and fifty to you? I understand you don’t want to owe me anything. I can transfer it to you right now.”

Lysander pulled away the hands resting on her waist. “There’s a fully–equipped burn department in the hospital and specialized surgical nurses. Don’t come looking for me.”

“Are you tired? It’s all right. I can head to the burn department…”

When she returned to the ward, only Daphne was there.

Daphne whistled. “The pretentious b*tch has left.”

“Did you chase her away with your harsh words?”

Daphne spread her hands. “Do I look like that kind of person to

“I don’t mean it that way.”

“Haha, I was just teasing you. In my opinion, the whole visiting mom thing is just a pretense. She merely wanted to lure Josiah here, so that you could see him getting medicine for her.”

“I think so too.”

“But it’s pointless, you know. Josiah already knows her true colors. Even if she tries to provoke you, the moment you get upset, Josial will only come to pacify you. He won’t pay her any mind. It’s really just a waste of effort.”

Once Molly’s situation had more or less stabilized, Lysander returned home for a visit.

Lysander poured a cup of coffee for Maverick. “Mm, I’ll be staying in the country from now on and spending more time with you both.”

Maverick was still somewhat uneasy. “Were you… mistreated in Stounia?”

“No.

“Tell me the truth. Are those foreigners looking down on Aplothians?”

After some thought, Lysander said, “I suppose I could return, but after working for so many years, I’m quite exhausted. I’d like to take a break before going back.”

Ines pulled out a calculator, tapping away briskly. “You should be aware of this plot of land. The cheapest price for a new house here is over fifty thousand. Multiply that by a hundred, and you’ll get an idea of the amount we’re talking about.”

Maverick glanced at the string of zeros on the calculator screen, a slight frown forming on his face. “Lysa, perhaps we should opt for something smaller.”

Ines quickly responded, “I do have smaller ones. The smallest is about sixty square meters, with one bedroom and one living room.”
