28. Threat

Raina was anxious on monday , she was afraid to encounter Adhiraj in office. But she had noticed that she hadn't seen him in that new office even once when she came Jodhpur. She had visited him only on THAT day.

Her alert mode was on excessive high level. She was extremely conscious about her surrounding always hiding beneath the files in her cubicle and when she would go to her apartment, she would lock up herself in her room finding clues which would lead her to her next destination. She badly needed to understand the business scenario of Jodhpur.

Two days, two days went without any problem . After office hours, a coworker invited them for a small treat as it was her birthday.

Raina was reluctant to go but after the sheer insistence from her work mates she agreed, she thought to loosen up a bit, past few days were very troublesome .

They reached a cosy food hub after their working hours. It was just two shops away from their office premises. With music playing in background and their funny chatting Raina looked comfortable.

Maybe that was what she needed, people surrounding her so that she could forgot her situation for a while but she herself was sceptical in connecting with different people.

After filling their stomach with different and delicious stuff, they exited the restaurant.

Raina saw a beautiful chocolate gift box with flowers so she thought to gift it to her colleague.

She went to buy it hurriedly as they were leaving the place, she came out and saw that they were waiting for her near th parking lot. But Neha and that girl was near the entrance.

Raina gave her the gift smilingly wishing her once again. Neha signalled her to move outside. She nodded and started descending the few stairs which were on the main gate to go down in parking lot.

Suddenly she felt a sudden push on her back. She fell on Neha who was walking foreward, but her hands caught railing on perfect time, she looked behind her back and she was shocked to see the same man, same man who had stabbed Adhiraj on that night and managed to escape when villagers reached at that place.

When he saw that Raina didn't fall and security guard was running to catch him, he jumped over the railing and ran towards the road followed by guards. Soon he disappeared taking the advantage of reigning darkness of late evening.

Raina was in shock but soon a high pitched scream seek her attention. Neha was lying near last stair and she was trying to stand up by taking support from the people but couldn't.

Concluding that she fell because of her, Raina ran towards Neha who was crying by then holding her ankle.

Raina removed her hand which was pressed on her foot and saw her ankle swelling. She looked at the people surrounding them and shouted, "Call the ambulance please."

Suddenly she felt something on her back again but it was not a push like earlier, it was more like pulling her shirt.

She moved her eyes up to give a piece of mind to that person. Adhiraj had a paper in his hand and he was looking very serious , jaw clenched and his eyes were furious.

She didn't dare to look at him again. Just then ambulance came , Neha was already lying inside. Raina was also going to sit with her but a sudden grip on her wrist halted her movement.

Without any hesitation, Adhiraj pulled her away from the the people. She looked at him in bewilderment and tried to free her hands looking back at the ambulance. He stopped and pulled her foreward to stand face to face.

He showed her the paper and asked, "Who did this Ms. Raina.?"

She looked at him in confusion but her expression changed with a speed of lightning when she read what was written in bold letters on that paper.

You have a life, Enjoy it. Don't try to save others otherwise nobody will save yours.

What it was?? A death threat??

Adhiraj sensed her confusion, "Ms. Raina.. This paper was sticked on your shirt.... Who did that.??"

His tone was a bit softer then before, only little bit. Involuntarily her hand went to her back...

Within one minute she understood what happened..

She was hesitant to recall it in front of him but nonetheless she said, "That man who stabbed you that night ... He was here... He pushed......"

She narrated the incident looking here and there especially avoiding his eyes and focusing on that paper.

He sighed as she told him in detail.

At that moment Adya came there. She was going to say something but her gaze fell on his hand holding hers. She looked at both of them surprised with raised eyebrows.

Adhiraj left her hand as soon as he saw Adya standing there. Raina took few steps away from him maintaining more then necessary distance. She pressed her wrist with her other hand soothing it, Adhiraj hold was firm and strong turning her wrist slightly white.

Adya cleared her throat , "Raina... Won't you go to hospital...?? Ambulance already went.."

Raina looked at her not knowing what to say. Adhiraj signalled someone. Soon a man came in a crisp black suit uniform and a red turban on his head. He bowed his head a little in front of Adhiraj.

Adya's eyes widened on seeing his etiquette, they were not supposed to reveal their true identity untill King will give permission, but soon she relaxed as she thought that Raina was oblivious of truth.

But Adhiraj was focused on Raina, she was unfazed rather then her eyes were fixed on left side of driver's uniform on which the symbol of Sun was embroided with golden thread.

He told, "You both go in my car. My driver will drop you both to your destination."

Raina was again surprised by his help or command.

She uttered in shock, "Sir...what ar-"

Adya cut her off by dragging her to his car muttering thankyou to her brother and driver following them.

Adhiraj's POV:-

"I want that man in any condition Rohan..", Rohan answered in affirmation and I ended the call.

Again I took that paper in my hands, how badly I tried to find those bastards in past two days but it looked like they disappeared in thin air even not leaving any clue behind them.

I recalled Rohan's word.... She is innocent in all this...

Yes.. She is. She has nothing to do with this dirty politics.

She already did a lot, she saved me that night and royals are never ungrateful towards who helped them even once in life.

And now she is stucked in this mess herself because of me.

I got up from my chair ready to leave my study room. These books and work are not distracting me now.

I moved to my room and stood in front of mirror, I took out the medical kit and unbuttoned my shirt.

That injury was still covered with bandages. I undid my old bandage and applied a new one. It was healing fast.

That old Vaidh really did nice treatment, when I consulted a doctor after coming here my body was already detoxified.

I lie down on the bed , even when those people saved my life I can't forget what they did to Raina. They practically forced her to marry.

I can't even imagine her emotional trauma at that time. I still remember her cracking voice and that feeling of her trembling hands.

She thought that I was unconscious but in reality I was just temporarily paralyzed due to that venom untill that village doctor made me smell some herbs.

I was listening everything even a bit hazy but my mind processed what was going on there.

But her behavior next morning surprised me. At first she was behaving as nothing happened which was very strong of her but then her mood took 180° turn.

She was looking shocked, distant and insecured in car. She knows my identity. I had clearly heard her muttering 'Rana sa' after seeing my back. Does she know Baba sa? Baba sa also had same tattoo on his hand.

It was legacy of royals to ink that symbol of sun on the body of every king. She also didn't reacted after seeing my driver in that royal uniform. I am cent percent confirm that she is well aware of my true whereabouts.

Today when I was going to meet Baba sa in office I witnessed chaotic environment on roadside nearby. Something inside told me to go there.

And when I reached their, I saw employees of our office circling few girls. Raina was also there but the thing disturbed me was that paper sticking on her shirt.

She was also confused when I confronted her. A glimpse of fear flashed in her eyes but again that strong and confident facade was up next moment except she was avoiding looking at me.

She was extremely uncomfortable with me..

She doesn't meant to be here.. She should stay away from all this but she is already in the sight of God knows which people or gang.

Today's incident proved that it is so unsafe for her. I know what to do.

She should not be in my contact.

I dialled my secretary's number, "I want a job termination letter for Ms. Raina Kashyap."

He was shocked, "Sir??? But why? "

"Just do as I say".

Raina's POV :

It is midnight and I am packing Neha's luggage. She got her ankle fractured. She is sleeping with her foot rested on the pillow.

When her parents got to know about her accident , they went on hyperventilating. Her father will be here early morning to take her back to Mumbai.

I sat beside her, it will be good for her. She will have someone who will take care of her. I chuckled, she has really a profit of being a single child.

She opened her eyes looking at me. I asked, "What happened?"

She shook her head in negative reply.

I held her hand in mine and said sincerely, "I am sorry Neha.. Because of me you are in this condition."

She took her hand out of my grasp and slapped my shoulders, "Nonsense... It happened due to that psycho man . You were not on fault."

I nodded my head and came to my room after covering her properly with blanket. I was still in my work cloths.

I remembered that paper, truth to be said I was also stunned and a little bit scared after seeing Adhiraj sir there.

But why am I running away from him? Didn't I decide to face everything bravely?

And he will not eat me alive. Or will he when he will came to know about that stupid marriage thing?

No... No.. He won't.. He will never know and it will be better if I forget this too. He is my boss and I am his employee nothing else.

I have to focus on other things. I already have my platter full of problems..

And I should not be scaring from the royals... They are not an issue with me, I am just making it a problem by running away from them ...

Maybe I will have to face them one day, I am not leaving Jodhpur until I will get my answers..
