Chapter 24
Trapped with My Billionaire Ex-Husband by Mariya Mercedes
Chapter 24 BLAIRE I ended up leaving the house with an empty stomach. I donât think Iâd be able to stand next to them for another minute. I grabbed the car keys that I could find and went straight to the garage.
I was already on the road when my phone rang. I saw Sebastianâs name, and I immediately declined the call. He didnât get to choose my stepsister and then called me as if nothing had happened.
It continues to ring nonstop, and I continue to ignore it. I have no time for his nonsense. I parked my car outside the building at the place that Iâm going to check. Iâm eyeing this location for the café that Iâm planning to put up. I wonât be staying here for long since I still have a lot of available locations to check out. Thatâs why I decided to leave my phone inside the car since it wouldnât stop ringing. I donât want to turn it off because I want Sebastian to know that Iâm deliberately avoiding his call.
âMrs. Foster! Itâs nice to finally meet you,â the brooker greeted me upon entering the building. âYou said youâre planning to put up a café, right? This will be perfect for that. Thereâs a lot of office space around here, and the scenery is perfect and calming. Iâm sure this will be the best spot for your business,â he said. âCome, let me show you around,â he offered.
I followed him to where the vacant space is located. It was just around the corner, and thereâs a lot of foot activity here, so itâs definitely perfect for what I have in mind.
âSo, how was it?â
âI liked it,â I said, nodding my head. âI still have a few spaces to check out, but I think this one is hard to top off.â
âThatâs great! Just give me a call if you have any questions about the papers or the process. Iâm looking forward to hearing from you again,â he said.
âThank you.â
âWell, Iâll go ahead now. I have another client to attend to. Would you you a cab?â he asked.
âNo, itâs fine. I have my car parked around the block,â I decline.
âOh, okay. Iâll talk to you soon; bye!â he said before leaving.
like me to call Once heâs gone, I walk back to my car, only to find a familiar figure leaning against it. He was glaring at me as I saw him clench his jaw. His arms were crossed in front of his 48%
Chapter 24 chest while he was waiting for me.
âI was calling you,â he said as I approached the car.
âI know; Iâm just ignoring it,â I answered.
âGive me the keys,â he asked coldly.
I donât know how he found me that quickly, but I have no energy to argue with him. I walked towards him and slammed the keys onto his chest. He grabbed it immediately.
âGet in,â he commanded as he walked towards the driverâs seat.
Instead of following his orders, I turned my back and walked away. I donât need his car. I can take a cab. As I continued walking, I had no idea that he was following me. I was caught by surprise when he suddenly lifted me up and put me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He then proceeded to his car and opened the door before shoving me inside. He slammed the door behind me before he walked around to the other side of the car. He quickly started the engine and drove the car.
We remained silent for a couple of minutes. Until heâs the one who breaks the silence, âYou shouldnât have done that. I know youâre upset. But you shouldnât put yourself in a position where you can get hurt or hurt someone else,â he said.
âHow many times do I have to tell you that I did nothing to Catherine?â
âSo, youâre saying that she deliberately hurt herself to make you look bad?â
âYes, I am. Because thatâs exactly what she did to me. I shouldnât be trying hard to convince you to believe me because Iâm your wife, and you should always take my side.â He hurt my feelings. We were just trying to patch things up, yet Catherine is coming in between us again.
âI saw what you did, Blaire. I was sitting right in front of it when it happened,â he insisted.
âThen you should have your eyes checked because you clearly didnât see it properly,â I answered.
After that, we remain silent. I had no idea where we were going, but I donât want to talk to him anymore. The car journey continued in a heavy silence, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife. The soft hum of the engine seemed to echo the unresolved conflict between us. I gazed out of the window, the passing scenery a blur as my mind. churned with thoughts.
Iâm tired, and I just want to rest. I recline my seat and close my eyes to rest. I didnât sleep well last night, so Iâm a bit tired.
Chapter 24 Despite my weariness, his words lingered in the air, weaving through the fabric of the atmosphere like an unspoken challenge.
As much as I wanted to dismiss him, a part of me couldnât shake the unsettling feeling inside me.
Probably because of a lack of sleep, I went straight into a deep slumber. I slowly opened my eyes and noticed the tinted window of the car. I frowned as I slowly stretched my arms, which were a little bit numb from sleeping uncomfortably. Despite that, I somehow regained my strength and felt refreshed after getting enough sleep.
I noticed that the sun was already setting. Though itâs still bright outside, Iâm sure itâs already afternoon. And when I turned to my left side, I found Sebastian with his laptop on his lap. He was so engrossed with what he was doing that he didnât notice me staring at him.
I can vividly remember that it was still early when we started driving. How long was I sleeping?
When I couldnât hold back my curiosity, I let him notice my presence. âWhy are we here?â I asked him.
Thatâs the only time that he turned in my direction. âYou were sleeping; I didnât want to wake you up,â he answered before bringing his eyes back to his laptop.
âHave you been staying here with me the whole time? How long was I sleeping?â
âA few hours,â he vaguely answered.
âYou should have woken me up.â
âAnd face your wrath? No, thanks. Iâd rather stay in this uncomfortable seat than wake you up and have your neck on my throat.â
âThen you should have left me here. You donât have to stay here and wait, then complain about it afterwards,â I said, rolling my eyes at him.
âDo you honestly believe that I would leave my wife here alone inside the car in the parking lot?â
âOf course you would. You already did when you grabbed Catherineâs hand and left me at the table.â

Chapter 24 He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. âIâm sorry about it. I was just worried that you might get in trouble with your dad if Catherineâs hand worsens.â
I hate to admit it, but heâs right. Despite my fatherâs obvious bias towards Catherine, I still donât want to upset him. I still have this urge to please him. If Sebastian doesnât remove Catherine from that situation, Iâm sure my father will blame me for everything. I let out a loud sigh, realizing his point.
âCome on, letâs go to my office. Letâs just order something. Iâm sure youâre hungry,â he said.
âIâm not hungry,â I lied. But my b*dy betrayed me when my stomach suddenly growled loudly. I glared at Sebastian, who was trying to hold back his smile. âFine, Iâll order everything.â I said before quickly getting out of the car to hide my embarrassment.
