Yin Tao took out the velvet gift box from the drawer and also changed into a slightly more formal black dress. After all, judging by the location of the cafeteria that Lin Jia had sent her, it was obviously not a cheap place.

It was a selfie and a message from Zhang Rui.

Yin Tao helplessly smiled. If Zhang Rui knew that Yin Hao had already seen her wild makeup look, would she still be as confident as she is now?

“You go girl!” Yin Tao added an encouraging emoticon behind the message. She was a little curious about how Zhang Rui would look if she failed.

She put away the phone, and the driver quickly arrived at her destination. Yin Tao took her bag and got out of the car.

Under the waiter’s lead, Yin Tao arrived at a small cubicle by the window.

“Little sister Xiaotao.” Lin Jia still looked as gentle and refined, but his eyes were clearly tired.

“Brother Lin Jia, you seem to be very busy recently.” Yin Tao sat opposite Lin Jia. When she saw the faint dark circles under his eyes, she felt that he must have been working late nights.

“Then can you accompany me to a place?” Lin Jia bent over slightly. Yin Tao sat in the passenger seat and he gently closed the car door.

“Where?” Yin Tao was worried that Lin Jia would ask her to pretend to be his girlfriend again, so she decided to clarify things first.

Lin Jia got into the driver’s seat and said to Yin Tao, “I actually go to Xingyuan Children’s Home every month. I’ve been too busy recently and haven’t been there for almost two months.”

When Yin Tao heard that Lin Jia wanted to go to the Children’s Home, she didn’t reject him.

As they drove towards the Children’s Home, Lin Jia explained to Yin Tao apologetically, “Actually, I have another motive for asking you to accompany me.”

Yin Tao turned to look at Lin Jia, waiting for him to finish what he wanted to say.

“There’s a little girl called Shanshan at the Children’s Home. She’s only six years old and is a little withdrawn. The doctor said that she has a mild communication disorder, but I think you might be able to get through to her.”

Yin Tao was a little puzzled. “Why do you think that I can communicate with that child? I’m clearly the type who isn’t good with words.”

“You have a unique aura. I always feel that you’re different from the people I know.” Lin Jia smiled and continued to say to Yin Tao, “There are many things that don’t bother you, and you are able to look at issues with a clear mind, as an outsider.”

Yin Tao was stunned by what Lin Jia said. Indeed, she didn’t belong here at all. But how did Lin Jia sense that! Yin Tao didn’t feel that there was anything abnormal about her usual behavior?

“Brother Lin Jia, you think too much of me. Perhaps I’m a bit slow-witted.” Yin Tao said.

“It’s impossible for an outstanding forensic doctor to be slow-witted,” Lin Jia retorted with a smile. “Xiaotao, you’re very smart and brave. Don’t underestimate yourself.”

Yin Tao didn’t dare to speak anymore. Although Lin Jia always had a kind and gentle appearance, he was actually much sharper than many others.

The Children’s Home was located in a remote area. It took them an hour to reach their destination.
