(81): Uncle Ky

He's sleeping again.

I think they put something in his drip because he keeps waking up and falling back asleep in literally a number of seconds. One minute we're having a conversation and the next I'm waiting for an answer only to hear soft snores above me.

My poor baby.

Today is day three in the hospital and day two of him being up. Most of yesterday consisted of people visiting him. Nick, Winnie and Kat came as soon as they could, while Nathan and I were still in. Winnie broke down crying because she couldn't believe what had happened. Nick was trying his hardest not to. It was really heartbreaking to watch. We were 'kicked out' for a few hours because he had to go for some scans but we came back as soon as visiting hours were back on. The doctors aren't too strict with us.

I wanted to sleep at the hospital with Kyle but Riley and his mom thought it was a bad idea (we were the last to leave). Kyle and I thought it was a good idea but apparently our opinions don't matter. Anyway, Mrs Chambers insisted on dropping me off and I slept at Winnie's because I was going to miss Kyle too much if I slept at ours. I woke up at an ungodly hour and started freshening up. I may or may not have stolen Winnie's car. I was already at the hospital again by 04:45. I had to beg the doctors to let me and luckily they did. He was still sleeping so I creeped carefully into his bed and started sleeping too since I was also tired.

I got up before him again and scrolled through the hospital Netflix to settle on rewatching Friends. He woke up a few minutes after and started kissing me. We spoke, he slept then woke up again, and that's just kind of how it's been for the past five hours or so.

"Hi" I hear a whisper.

I almost fall off the bed at that sudden voice which does not belong to Kyle. I turn to my side to see his young nurse that I'm not too fond of watching me weirdly.

"Yes?" I reply.

"Uh, do the doctors know you're here? I don't think you're supposed to be"

I basically scoff "Yes they do"

"Okay, I'm just making sure. Don't put too much pressure on his chest. That's where his operation was"

"I know"

I can see her roll her eyes "Okay, I have to wake him up for his meal now"

"Just bring it, I'll help him"

She looks like she wants to say something but luckily doesn't before shooting me a look and walking out.

I start to shake Kyle softly so he can wake up "Babe?" I try but it doesn't work. I shake him harder and he starts to squirm under me.

"Morning" He greets groggily and I sit up so he can too as he rubs his knuckles to his eyes before letting out a loud yawn and stretching "What episode are we on?"

"We?" I laugh "You were sleeping"

I climb off the bed and sit on the chair next to him just so he has more space.

"It's the drugs" He excuses.

"Okay well your nurse is about to come with your food. You're hungry, right?"

He shrugs "I guess"

"Okay"

He gets up suddenly. He can walk. He can actually do everything, I saw it yesterday. I'm just glad he wasn't too physically hurt in any of this. He's wearing blue hospital clothes- which basically look like pajamas- and they make him look so cute.

"What are you doing?" I question.

"Well I have to brush my teeth first" He replies and I notice that he's walking to the basin on the side of the room. He grabs a toothbrush, which I'm guessing was provided by the hospital because I didn't bring him one, and starts brushing his teeth slowly.

I'm just smiling like an idiot for some reason.

He finishes the same time that the nurse walks in, before walking to his bed and sitting up.

"Oatmeal and then some toast, eggs and bacon for strength" She announces "Tea too"

She puts everything carefully on the table dangling over his bed and pushes it closer to him. I hear him mutter a small 'thanks' but she still doesn't move.

"Bye, you can go now" I dismiss.

She seems to snap back to reality, instead of ogling my boyfriend, before huffing and walking away.

Kyle laughs almost immediately "Babe, you need to calm down"

"I don't like her" I grumble standing.

He just shakes his head "Possessive much?"

"Hush" I deadpan rolling my eyes at him "Do you need help or are you good?"

"I'm good. Want some?"

I nod immediately and he laughs "I didn't exactly eat"

"I don't like that" He scolds.

"Sorry, I was distracted. Plus I had to steal Winnie's car before she woke up or something"

"I would complain over the fact that you skipped your classes today and yesterday but I did the same when you were in the hospital so I'll let it slide" He says.

I grin "Good, cause I wouldn't care"

The others promised they'd be here as soon as their classes were over for today.

We both start to eat, with me eating more than him but he doesn't seem to mind because he doesn't have that much of an appetite anyway.

"Any updates on Zach?" He asks softly when we're done.

"Still not up" I frown.

His face looks deflated "Okay"

I kiss his cheek quickly "He'll be fine. Your mom and Riley should be here any minute. Visiting hours start soon"

"They'll kill you if they find out how long you've been here" He tseks shaking his head.

I snort "They don't have to"

"Okay, give me a kiss before they get here"

I grin but stand up so I'm hovering over him and lean down quickly to lay my lips on his. The kiss is slow, sending butterflies to my stomach, but it heats up slightly as I hold his face between my hands and he grips my hips tightly. I breathe contently into his mouth and I feel him smile against me as we continue for a few more seconds.

"Weak, can't breathe" He pulls back wheezing.

I laugh sitting again, kind of guilty "Sorry, got carried away there"

"Yeah you did" He teases, grey eyes shining.

"Hush, Chambers" I scold jokingly and grab the remote "Lets watch one more episode"

He agrees and scoots for me to lay next to him and I do just that happily.

"Theo!"

It's an episode later and my eyes widen at the sight. There was a knock on the door and I noticed Riley and Mrs Chambers, but my eyes travelled down and I saw a tiny little thing standing all by himself.

I get up from the bed at a speed I can't even comprehend before running to them.

Theo laughs loudly "Ga-ga"

He remembers me!!

He opens his arms for me when I get there and I quickly pick him up before laying kisses all over his chubby face.

"You brought him?" I gape to Riley.

She smiles watching us "Yes. I wanted it to be a surprise. I knew it would make you feel better"

"Thank you, thank you" I grin.

Riley and her mom start to walk to Kyle's bedside while Theo and I 'catch up'. I'm just grinning at him like an idiot and he's slapping my face, squirming on me excitedly. He's really grown. All his teeth are present now, his eyes are still big, and as I just saw now, he can walk by himself. So cute.

"Hi" I coo.

"Hi" He repeats back grinning and I can literally feel my eyes twinkle.

"How are you?"

"You!" He squeaks laughing like an angel.

"Where's daddy?" I ask.

"Daddy!" He repeats enthusiastically, kicking his feet in the air.

Awwwwwww!!

"Do you want to see your uncle?" I ask.

He looks confused but he's still laughing "Wanku?" He tries to mimic the last part.

"Uncle" I enunciate.

"Wanku"

Close enough.

I just giggle kissing his cheek "Yes. Do you want to see your wanku?"

He doesn't say anything and I start to walk to the rest of the Chambers with Theo resting on my hip and playing with my ponytail.

"Hey" I greet Kyle sheepishly.

His attention is to the little creature in my hands. He's only seen him in pictures.

"Cute, right?" I ask him.

He nods dazedly and I hear Riley and her mom laugh happily at the sight. I can't help but grin widely too.

"Do you want to hold him?" Riley asks.

Theo finally turns around, glances at his mom and grandma quickly, before his eyes zero in on Kyle who's laying on the bed and looking right back at him with a look of adoration.

I wish I could take a picture of this.

"Hi" His mom coos and Theo looks to her "This is your uncle. Can you say Kyle?"

"Ky" He manages to get out.

Aww.

I point to him and Theo follows my hand "This is Wanku Kyle. Do you want to talk to him?"

"Wanku" He repeats.

Kyle is just watching all of us with a smile on his face before sitting up more, and I think he wants to hold his nephew. I slowly hand Theo over to him, and soon he's sitting on his lap facing him.

Riley and I share a happy look.

"Hi" Kyle greets wearingly.

Theo grins, saliva running down his blue jacket as he bounces up and down on his legs "Hi"

"I'm Kyle" He says.

Theo looks confused, glancing at all of us before his eyes settle back to his uncle "Ky"

"That too" Kyle laughs.

Theo looks at his mom before pointing to her "Mommy" And then he looks back to Kyle as if he was introducing them.

Oh my gosh.

"Is that your mommy?" Kyle asks.

Theo nods quickly laughing "Mommy"

"Aw, baby" Riley coos smiling and I see tears running down her face, probably tears of joy, and she quickly wipes them.

"Nana!" He points to a grinning Mrs Chambers and I'm guessing they spent quite some time together before now because how would he know she's his nana. I remember Riley mentioning that she was staying at her mothers house so that explains it.

"That's your nana?" Kyle asks.

"He's beautiful" Mrs Chambers praises, watching her son and grandson "He looks just like my father"

"That's what I told Chelsea-Anne" Kyle says.

He did. I remember showing him a picture of Theo and he told me that he looked like his grandfather, except for the hair.

"Wels-An" I hear Theo repeat confused.

I think he's trying to say my name.

I laugh and this gets his attention as he looks at me "Can you say Chels?"

"Sels?" He repeats.

Close enough.

His mom points to me "This is Chels, not ga-ga, okay baby?"

"Sels" He points to me.

I nod happily "Yes, I'm Sels"

"She's Chris' sister" His mom adds.

Theo starts to clap happily, I'm guessing at the mention of my little brother's name. I know they're always together "Wis!"

"Yes, this is his sister" She laughs.

He's so happy, and then he looks at Kyle again and point at him "Ky!"

"Hi, Theo" He laughs.

Theo points to himself and looks down "Is me"

Aww.

"Yes, that's you" Kyle coos, luckily understanding his baby language "How old are you?"

"Old" He repeats confused.

"Can you say one?" Kyle tries.

Theo starts to grin, showcasing his tiny white teeth and claps "One! Barney!"

"Barney?"

"Him and Chris watch a lot of Barney. Whenever he hears shapes or numbers he recognizes, he remembers them from Barney" Riley explains looking adoringly between her son and brother.

That is the cutest thing.

Kyle laughs, his eyes shining "Can I get a high-five?" He sticks his hand out and Theo touches it confused "Nice!"

He just laughs.

"Give Ky a huggie" His mom says.

Theo seems to know exactly what that is because he starts to crawl up his body before wrapping his tiny hands around his neck.

OH MY GOSH!!!

"Huggie!" He squeals and Kyle holds him tighter, his eyes glistening as he kisses his soft black hair.

This is too precious.

"Somethings in my eye" Kyle mutters wiping them quickly.

I actually start to cry too; but happy tears.

Theo moves back, still with that huge smile and starts playing with Kyle's face, slapping him softly with his tiny hands. His tiny feet are standing on Kyle's thighs and they're just staring at each other.

I can't handle this.

Riley and I share a look of adoration, and laugh at the fact that we're both crying at the sight.

"Thank you" She whispers to me.

'For what?' I want to ask but I just mouth back a "You're welcome"

I think I have an idea.

After a while, she gets up "Uh, so Theo can't be here for more than thirty minutes because he's a child. It's some hospital rule so I'll just take him"

"Nonsense" Her mother dismisses "I'll go with him to the car and you can stay here for as long as you need"

Riley smiles sitting "Thank you, mom"

Kyle looks slightly sad that he's having to let his nephew go and I almost burst at the sight. Mrs Chambers sticks her hands out and Kyle hesitantly hands him to her before she gives him a 'get well soon' kiss on his forehead. I can see Theo stop smiling too, he was smiling the whole time he was with Kyle. Mrs Chambers puts him on her hip.

"Say bye" She coos.

Theo waves, first at Kyle "Bye-bye"

"Bye, little guy" Kyle smiles.

He then looks to me and his mom "Bye-bye"

"Bye, baby" His mom coos.

"Bye, Theo" I wave before him and his grandmother exit the room.

Sigh.

"You did so good" Riley says standing up to kiss her brother on the forehead "Thank you for that. And sorry for not warning you beforehand"

"It was nothing" He says softly.

"He loves you" She informs smiling.

Kyle laughs lightly "I don't know, RJ, he just seems like a really happy guy. I think he's like that with everyone"

"But he loves you. I can see it"

"Well I love him" He replies genuinely.

Riley starts to cry again, laughing softly while she's at it "God, I'm just so happy. My heart feels so light for the first time in so many years. All I need is for my twin to wake up"

I hug her since she's next to me.

"Thank you, Chelsea. I don't even know how I could ever begin to thank you for everything" She utters.

"You don't have to, Riley" I reply "Seeing all of you so happy is more than enough for me"

"She's super-human, huh?" Kyle asks his sister, eyes soft, referring to me.

She nods "She really is"

"Stop" I smile shyly.

They both just laugh before Riley and I take our seats again. Kyle immediately holds my hand with his and I feel him squeeze it every now and again.

"Theo is really big now" I start.

Riley nods smiling "Yeah. He's growing up too quickly for me liking. He loves people, absolutely loves them. He loves speaking too. He has so much fun learning new words"

"Aww, I could see" I reply.

"So he watches all these cartoons now and tries to repeat after them. And when I'm having a conversation with Monty in front of him, he'll just repeat every word I say that he can get a hold of"

"So you can't swear now" Kyle laughs.

Riley nods amused "Yeah, we're having to be extra careful with our words in the house"

"He's so cute!" I grin.

"Did I tell you he loves Chrissy?" Riley asks me with a huge smile and I grin back "He always want to go to your house now just to see her"

Oh my gosh.

"I think he's just glad he's not the youngest on the block anymore" I laugh.

"Probably. He loves feeling old" She agrees.

"What's his full name?" Kyle asks. He had just been watching and listening to us with a grin on his face. I'd glance at him every now and then and he'd wink or squeeze my hand.

"Theodore Isaiah Forrest" Riley replies.

"Theodore" He hums nodding "Got it"

I laugh in realization "By 'got it' he means he's never calling him Theo ever again. Only Theodore from now on. It's his thing"

"You're not calling my baby Theodore" Riley objects immediately, eyes wide.

Kyle smirks challengingly "Try me"

Goodbye 'Theo'.

"You smell like hospital" Kat teases giving me another hug.

"Ha-ha" I scowl.

"Give her a break, Kathrine" Winnie jokingly comes to my defense before squeezing my arm "You're okay, right?"

"Yeah. I'll probably be distracted though"

"He's okay now, you know? He made us promise that we'd make sure you're okay" Winnie says.

I smile "Of course he did"

"Come on" Kat drags me with "We have a few minutes before our class. Nick and Nathan are waiting for us"

We start to walk away from Winnie's car that drove us both here before making our way to the boys. After the Chambers family left yesterday, the rest of our friends came. We all just kept Kyle companied. He forced me to go home early because he knew I'd be going to school today, so I haven't seen him since.

I miss him.

"Hey y'all" Nick greets when we get there.

I wave meekly.

"Zach still not up?" Nathan asks me and I shake my head "Damn. It's been four days now, hasn't it?"

"Unfortunately" I murmur.

"Hey! No sad talk" Nick scolds sternly "We leave all that at the hospital"

"I agree" Kat says.

"I know, I'm sorry" I apologize.

"I know" Nick rubs a hand on my back "Kyle is okay. Just try to stop worrying so much, yeah? We don't like seeing you like this"

I nod, smiling "Okay, I promise"

"We love you, lady" Winnie winks.

"I love you guys too. Now, let's stop with all the sap. I think I like it better when y'all are annoying me instead" I laugh.

"You mean Nicholas?" Kat snorts.

He objects scoffing "You guys annoy her too. Don't they, Chels?"

"Yes, every last one of you" I giggle.

"Whatever" Kat rolls her eyes "Anyway you, Winnie and I need a girls day. You've been hanging out with the guys too much"

I raise a brow "I have?"

"Yeah" Winnie continues for her "You went on that friend date thing with Nick. You and Nathan were together at the warehouse thing and the hospital at first"

I laugh "Winnie, I don't think Nathan and I almost dying counts as hanging out"

"Yeah" Nathan shrieks exasperated.

She blushes sheepishly "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that"

"It's okay" I muse "But yeah, us three need a girls day. Maybe after Kyle is out though, and Zach is awake. I don't want any distractions" I trail.

Kat smiles "Of course"

"I don't get why you guys are planning this in front of us" Nick deadpans.

Winnie giggles "Oops"

"Well guess what? Nathan and I are going to have our boys day just tomorrow" He states smugly and we all raise brows.

Doubt it.

"Uh dude, I think Chels is right. Only when Kyle is out and his brother is up" Nathan trails and we laugh even more.

"Ha! Take that" Kat taunts.

Nick scowls "You guys are the worst"

"We love you" Winnie teases, blowing him a kiss and it gets a bit tense.

It's awkward when she says it.

"Mine and Chels' class is about to start soon. We should leave" Kat says before walking to her boyfriend and laying a kiss on his cheek.

I guess they're good now.

"Bye" They wave.

Kat and I start walking.

"So you and Nathan are good now?" I ask her curiously.

"Oh so he told you?" She laughs.

I shrug, not sure if I was supposed to mention it since I didn't hear it from her "It came up when he was talking to Kyle and I was there"

"I don't mind but yeah, I almost lost him, kind of, so I realized that being mad at stupid things is a waste of time" She replies "Plus, I missed him"

I laugh "I can imagine"

"And Chels, he's really going through a lot, you know?" She frowns and I nod "He watched his best friend get shot, he watched you all tied up and his dad is getting his parole hearing and all. He needs me"

I smile softly at her "I know. He really needs all the support he can get"

"How's Kyle? Emotionally?"

"He's coping" I trail half-frowning "He's also just going through the most, you know. He cried two days ago and I swear my heart broke. But yeah, he met his nephew for the first time and I think that made up for everything"

"That's good" She smiles nodding.

"Yeah" I drawl "I just want all of this to be over soon"

"Yeah me too" She agrees.

Class actually turns out to not be that bad. I got lost in the writing and forget about all the bad things for a while...

Hey, guys. Sorry for the rollercoaster and whatnot. I hope you guys like it though. I was really emotional writing this chapter; good and bad emotional. It feels so real guys lol. I'll try for things to only be good from now on since we are, unfortunately, nearing the end. Hope all your questions are getting answered as we go by and all the open ends are closing up.

also if i were to do a sequel/spin off, whose story would you guys want?

-Nick and Winnie (i'm thinking after a whole lot of drama, denial and mistakes they eventually fall in love and are together)

-Zach (taking place after MR&M and he's picking his life up or something. obviously there's gonna be a girl and some drama because we all love that)

-Nathan and Kat (i don't really have a solid idea in mind but i can come up with something)

-Or literally just a sequel of MR&M and everything is in Kyle and Chels's POV again (id like to think their story is over after the epilogue of this book but we can work something out)

these are all suggestions and questions, i'm not sure yet if i'll go through with any.

also all take place after the last chapter of MR&M and the whole cast is still there, but just POVs of the main characters in the new book.

except Zach's story. im probably going to have a whole new cast with maybe one or two appearances from the Kyle and Chels.
