Aashna hummed a soft tune as she neatly folded a hoodie and placed it inside her overnight bag. Her room was a mess-clothes scattered on the bed, a charger dangling off the table, and her shoes lying near the door, waiting to be packed. She was excited-finally, after days of Dhruvin being buried in badminton practice and her drowning in assignments, they were going to get some quality time together. A night out at Manan's place with their entire group sounded like the perfect break.

Just as she zipped her bag, her brother Aryan walked in, raising an eyebrow at her unusually bright mood.

"You look suspiciously happy. What's going on?" he asked, plopping onto her bed and picking up a stray t-shirt.

Aashna rolled her eyes but couldn't hide her smile. "Nothing much. Just looking forward to hanging out with my friends. It's been a while."

Aryan smirked knowingly. "Or maybe you're just excited to see a certain someone?"

"Shut up," she muttered, throwing a pillow at him. "How's your practice going?" she asked, smoothly changing the topic.

Aryan, thankfully, took the bait. "Not bad. But tell me about your boyfriend's practice. Heard the inter-state competition is getting tough this year."

Aashna nodded, her fingers absently playing with the strap of her bag. "Yeah, he's been practicing non-stop. He barely has time for anything else. He's good, though. Like, really good. I just hope he doesn't overwork himself."

"Hmm," Aryan mused. "You should tell him to take it easy sometimes. Burnout is real."

"Trust me, I tried," she sighed. "He's just too stubborn."

Before Aryan could respond, their father's voice rang from the living room. "Aashna, come here."

Aashna frowned and walked out, finding her father sitting on the couch, scrolling through his phone. "Yes, Papa?"

"Where are you going so late?" he asked without looking up.

Aashna's stomach dropped. "I told you, Papa. Manan's place. We all planned a night out, remember?"

Her father finally looked up, his expression firm. "No need to go anywhere. It's late. Go to your room and sleep."

Her heart sank. "But Papa-"

"No arguments," he said, dismissing her.

Aashna stormed back to her room, her excitement crashing down into frustration. Her eyes burned with tears as she pulled out her phone and dialed Dhruvin's number.

He picked up on the second ring. "Hey, ready to leave?"

Aashna sniffed. "I can't come."

Dhruvin sat up straight. "What? Why?"

"Papa isn't letting me. He just said no out of nowhere," she said, wiping her eyes. "I was so excited, and now-"

"Shhh," Dhruvin cut her off gently. "Stop crying, okay? Let me handle this."

Aashna sniffed again. "There's nothing you can do."

"We'll see," Dhruvin said, an unmistakable smirk in his voice before he hung up.

Aashna sighed, placing her phone down, preparing for a long night of sulking. But ten minutes later, her father knocked on her door and entered.

"You can go," he said gruffly.

Aashna's eyes widened. "What? Really?"

"Yes, but on one condition. You call me as soon as you reach. And no drinking."

"I won't, I won't! Thank you, Papa!" she exclaimed, nearly tripping over herself as she grabbed her bag.

She paused at the door, curiosity getting the better of her. "But...why did you change your mind?"

Her father sighed, rubbing his temples. "Because apparently, all your friends decided to call me one by one and not let me live in peace until I said yes."

Aashna burst out laughing. "Let me guess-Dhruvin's idea?"

Her father's pointed look was all the confirmation she needed. Still giggling, she ran out of the house and waited by the gate for a cab. Just as she pulled out her phone to check the arrival time, the low rumble of a familiar bike filled the quiet street.

She looked up, and there he was-Dhruvin, clad in his usual black hoodie and jeans, his hair slightly messy from practice, smirking at her as he pulled up beside her.

"Hop on, drama queen."

Aashna huffed. "You really made everyone call my dad?"

Dhruvin shrugged. "Desperate times call for desperate measures."

She narrowed her eyes. "And what if he had gotten more pissed?"

He smirked. "Then I would've climbed up to your balcony and smuggled you out."

Aashna snorted. "Oh please, you can't even climb the college staircase without complaining."

"Excuse me, I am an athlete."

"An athlete who nearly cried last week after leg day."

Dhruvin groaned. "Are you getting on or not?"

She grinned, slipping onto the bike behind him, her arms loosely wrapped around his waist. "Fine, but don't drive like a maniac."

"No promises," he teased before revving the engine and speeding off into the night, both of them laughing as the wind rushed past them.
