The college canteen was buzzing with excitement as students gathered to celebrate the results. Aashna and Dhruvin’s project had made the cut, and their group of friends had taken it upon themselves to throw an impromptu celebration. Plates of samosas, chai, and cold drinks covered their usual table as everyone chatted animatedly.

“I have to say,” Saumya grinned, nudging Dhruvin. “I didn’t think you had it in you. Literature and you? A match made in hell.”

Dhruvin placed a hand over his chest dramatically. “The lack of faith in me is heartbreaking.”

“Oh, please,” Aashna scoffed, stirring her chai. “You literally googled ‘what the hell is a metaphor’ in the middle of the library.”

The table erupted into laughter while Dhruvin shot her a betrayed look. “That was privileged information, Aashu.”

“Nothing is privileged when it comes to embarrassing you.”

Manan leaned in, smirking. “Honestly, it was fun watching you two work together. Like an old married couple but with more insults.”

Advait, who had been quietly listening, frowned slightly. His fingers drummed against the table as he observed the way Aashna and Dhruvin kept sneaking glances at each other, bickering in their usual rhythm. It was subtle, but anyone paying attention could see the shift in their dynamic.

“So,” Raj interrupted, waving a samosa in the air. “Now that we’re all geniuses and winners, I think this calls for a party.”

“Yes! Finally, some sense in this conversation!” Manan clapped his hands together. “We need a proper celebration. Drinks, food, music, the whole deal.”

Dhruvin leaned back, a knowing smirk tugging at his lips. “Well, Aaji has already invited everyone over to my place.”

“That’s great! We—wait.” Aashna stopped mid-sip of her chai, her brows furrowing as she looked at him suspiciously. “Everyone?”

Dhruvin met her gaze, his smirk widening. “Specially you.”

Aashna blinked, caught off guard for a moment. Her fingers tightened around her cup, and she quickly looked away, pretending to be completely unaffected. “Well… uh… I suppose I can come.”

Manan wiggled his eyebrows at her. “Oho, Aashna, is that a hint of excitement I detect?”

“Shut up, Manan.”

Advait remained silent, pushing his food around his plate as the conversation carried on. He didn’t like the way Dhruvin looked at her, or the way Aashna responded—like she was getting used to his presence in ways she hadn’t before.

The excitement of the upcoming celebration filled the air, but underneath it, there were threads of something else—something Advait wasn’t sure he liked.
