Chapter 34- Moving On

"Good morning sleepyhead," Rhea knocked on the door.

"Go away Rhea," I groaned and pulled the pillows to my face.

She kept knocking on the door until I'd open up. I have been in my room for a week now. Nothing feels right anymore.

I haven't seen Chase since he left my house the night of my birthday. Best birthday gift ever.

"If you don't open up Olive then I will break this door," Rhea threatened me.

"Leave me alone Rhea," I groaned.

Suddenly the door swung open and I sat up quickly. Rhea stood outside, smiling at me. "You broke the door."

"Nah, not really. I forgot that I had the keys to this house," she smiled and jumped on the bed next to me.

"I missed you in the office Olive, please come back," Rhea whined.

"No," I replied.

"For how long will you tell Mr. chivalry that you're sick?" She asked and I didn't respond because I didn't know what to say. "He was so close to coming here because you didn't show up for a week."

"Don't let him know about this," I replied.

"You have to come out to the real world Olive," Rhea replied. "I have went through this too. I know it's hard. I know you think that life has ended because you lost Chase but it didn't. You still have your dad, grandmother, and me."

I thought about it. It was true whatever she said. Everything she said has crossed my mind at least once per day.

"Fine," I groaned and she smiled.

"Wow, I am so good at convincing people," she parted her back. "By the way, take a long shower. You kinda stink."

I smiled and she left the room. I stood up and walked over to the bathroom.

"Wait why?" She asked.

"Because Chase doesn't want to see me," I replied back.

"So?" She asked. "Who gives a fuck about that fucktard anymore? He broke your heart and you still have feelings for him."

I looked at her and she smiled.

"Sorry," she replied and I smiled back at her.

"I'm going for groceries, I'll be back soon," I said as I left.

I don't even know what groceries we need but I just wanted to eat out of the house for a while. Suddenly my eyes spot someone who I didn't think would be here.

I quickly hid behind one of the racks and peeled through the holes. It was Chase. He was really here. What was he doing here?

He was talking to someone but I couldn't see who it was. An old man was blocking my view. I turned around and took a deep breath.

Everything is fine. Calm down Olive.

I turned and sat him talking to a girl. She was almost my height and really skinny. She wore a yellow dress which was really short and everytimme she would laugh, she would touch chase.

That pissed me off so much.

How dare she touch Chase?

Before I could go to them, I thought about what Chase had said to me that night.

"I don't want to see you ever."

He doesn't want to see me. Why make it worse by going to him?

While they were talking, there was something missing. His smile. One of the most gorgeous smiles in the world was missing. While the girl was laughing, he stood there uncomfortable.

Because of me the smile was ripped off his face. I was just happy that I saw him. It has been a week and I have missed him so much.

Suddenly the girl hugged him and my palm formed into a fist. My face red with anger and killing her was the only thought running in my mind.

For a moment he just stood there but then slowly he hugged her after she whispered something to him.

This broke my heart.

He already moved on. He forgot me so quickly. Was I not important to him? Probably I wasn't.

He kissed the girl's cheek and she left the store. He stood there looking the other way. Suddenly he got a call and also left.

I turned around and sat on the stairs. My face buried in my hand and I sobbed. He brings all the memories back. All the painful memories.

I can't go back and work for him. I don't have the courage to face him anymore.

I took my phone out and wiped away my tears. I dialed Mr. chivalry and he picked up immediately.

"Olive?" He breathed out.

"Hello Mr. chivalry," I replied.

"Oh Olive, how are you dear?" He asked.

"I am fine, how are you?" I asked.

"Fine now that you called. I was worried sick. Are you okay? I heard about you and Chase, is everything fine?" He asked and I closed my eyes.

I took a deep breath. "It's all fine but I called to tell you something," I started. "I am about to send you my resignation letter."

"Resignation? Why?" He asked and sounded shocked.

"I just want to take some time off. I am lost and just need some time alone."

"Wait, you will come back though right?"

I didn't respond for a minute and he sighed. "Oh Olive, I will miss you."

"I will miss you too Mr. chivalry. Good bye," I said and cut the call.

I sat there looking at my phone and there were a lot of missed calls and text messages. Most of them were from Rhea. The rest I didn't bother looking at.

I pulled my knees to my chest and laid my head on top.

"Hey there again," a familiar voice called and I looked up to find Armaan.

"Armaan," I breathed out and he took a seat next to me.

"I hate to always find you when you're crying," he replied and I smiled at him, wiping away my tears.

"Sorry to always cry when you're around," I said and he laughed.

"How have you been?" He asked and I just shrugged.

"I just quit my job," I replied and he nodded. "I don't want to bore you with my life so tell me about yours. How are the surgeries?"

"Amazing. Actually Olive now that you told me that you resigned. Do you want to start working in my hospital?" He asked and I was taken off guard.

Surgery again?

"It has been years since I last practiced," I started and he smiled at me.

"You were always the best, why don't you start your internship?"

"Who will hire me? I haven't done or seen surgery in quite a long time."

"You still have your certificates right?" He asked and I nodded. "Then I will hire you as a new intern."

"Wait, really? Even though I haven't practiced surgery in a long time?" I asked and he nodded.

"Yes. I know how good you were at dissecting the pigs and everything we did in med school. I'd love to get you as my new intern."

"Oh Armaan this is truly so kind of you."

"So, what have you decided?" He asked and I smiled.

"When does the internship start?" I asked and he smiled at me.

"It starts next month but you are welcomed if you'd like to join soon," he replied.

"Thank you Armaan," I said with a small smile.

"Anytime," he replied. "I have to leave so see ya?"

"Yes sure, see ya."

Many of you wanted an update so here's one but it's just a short filler chapter. Nothing special happened but at least you know what is happening with Olive and Chase.

Olive quit her job? That's a shocker.
