31. Protecting The Last Māhū

"My dear, it appears we're entering the drop sight now"

Aiden informs me through our communications link and I grab hold of my oxygen enriched mask from the bench of the silent autopiloted aircraft. I move to drop the back door when my husband's hands find their way around my waist.

"I don't get a goodbye?" He asks and I questioned why this mission had me so on edge when compared to the last few we've been assigned to.

The current mission wasn't difficult.

Two years prior to around this date, the last Mahu was born on the island of Bridgeport. A blessed Mahu child born on the island possessing the power of both genders was a rare occurrence that only struck the island once every hundred years.

Mythical legends spread by tribes and locals spoke of the Mahu child as a prophet that had been blessed with the gift of healing as well as being able to tell the future.

The child born neither male or female, was sought out by many since the last prophet who had blessed the day old infant, recently passed away.

These people were ruthless individuals, out for the blood and misery of anyone who stood in their way from possessing the gifted Mahu for themselves.

But they wouldn't lay a finger on upon his precious head of dark brown hair.

Because I was going to stop each and every one of them.

"Sorry my love, I suppose this mission has me a little nervous is all," I sigh as I grip his tiny waist and pull him close to me, laying a single kiss goodbye upon his lush lips.

"The baby shares your father's name Taehyung-ah, of course, you're a little on edge. Especially with the location being within an hours drive of your parents home. But the baby's last name is Jackson and he shares no resemblance to your family. I think it's just a coincidence. Don't get yourself so worked up about it my dear," Aiden reassures me and I grasp my helmet from the bench.

"I suppose logic would serve you as correct in this situation. But I have this peculiar feeling Aiden...something's going to happen, but all we can do now is leave it to the Gods of fate itself. See you on the other side, my love," I spoke to him as he held on tight to the beam and I let the door drop. Putting on my helmet and diving into the cloudless sky of Los Angeles.

I hadn't been anywhere near the city where I grew up since the week before I was forced to fake the death or myself and my husband in that avalanche.

"Honey I need you to angle yourself a tad bit to the right," I hear Aiden speak to me through the coms and change my position to fall at the correct rate to reach my target.

A place where a large farmhouse was seemingly hiding from the world.
