Sushi Hotline

ð£
Her | Him | Her friend
"Anita?"
"What happened to the 'this is Holvan's Sushi hotline' shidazzel"
"Amanda?"
"Ohhhh I see what you're doing, nope and nope"
"Amelia"
"Nope"
"Anastasia"
"Nah"
"Avery"
"Nope"
"Autumn?"
"Incorrect"
"Anna"
"Close but no"
"Annabella"
"Noooo. C'mon it's not that hard. Super common, short."
"Annie!?"
"Finally! Took you long enough."
"Final year at High School you said?"
"Yeah? Why?"
"No reason. I guessed it, can we do that 10 question thing now?"
"Sure, I'd rather that than this boring as hell homework. I'll ask then you ask."
-
I was dying to know a little more about this Sushi Hotline speaker. I needed a description to picture a person on the other end of the line. Maybe I was just nosy, or just a little concerned that it was still a creep, but I desperately wanted a friendship to form. And I wasn't lying when I said I had boring homework, English Literature essays are not fun.
-
"Okay"
"Birthday?"
"December 6th, Yours?"
"April 14th. What your eye colour?"
"Hazel. What's your hair colour?"
"Guess,"
"Don't do this I'm sick of guessing, your name was enough."
"Guess"
"Black?"
"Nope,"
"Mousy blonde"
"That's oddly specific and oddly correct."
"What can I say, I'm a master guesser"
"If the world was ending and you could only save one person, who would it be?"
"Straight in with the deep questions, damn. Erm, probably my younger brother, he's done so much for me over the years."
"That is so adorable! You're soft at heart,"
"Would you do the same?"
"I would if I had any siblings but I don't so I'd have to go with Sara,"
"You fight like sisters so I guess it counts,"
"That's very true. Next question! What would be your last meal on death row?"
"Hey, I missed a question!"
"No, you didn't,"
"That last one doesn't count, I was simply following on from yours!"
"Fine, answer mine then you can ask two."
"Last meal..... have to say steak,"
"Not sushi!? I feel betrayed,"
"Working every day with Sushi changes you. I eat sushi for almost every dinner, I'd prefer to change it up,"
"Ah I get you, and a stake is good! But definitely with fries."
"Oh definitely! Now stop distracting me I need to ask two questions!"
"Go on then."
"Would you consider yourself popular? And...would you rather...continue to speak to me over the phone and never see me in real life or see me but never talk again."
"Well I'm not bratty popular but I think I'm pretty friendly with most people, I'm just not very good at initiating the conversation so I tend to stay quiet unless I'm with Sara."
"Fair enough, 2nd question?"
-
I paused to think about my answer leaving a humming silence between the phone lines. I really enjoyed our chats. I had a friend who I could talk to without any prejudgment. But I was dying to see what he looked like. The curiosity was killing me.
-
"Although I am dying to see what you look like, I really like just hearing your voice. There's no judgment that way. Also, I'd hate to stop talking to you so I'd risk never seeing your face."
"I honestly agree, our chats give me something to do at work otherwise it gets so boring."
-
I heard the chime of my doorbell float through the house. I quickly stood up and peered down from the window to see a figure at my door, soaking wet from the pouring rain. I instantly knew who it was from the soaked red jumper.
-
"I'll be right back"
"Wait what?"
-
I opened the door to see my best friend drenched from head to toe, her hoodie now a dark red.
Sara?
Hey girl
You're all wet! Come in and get dry!
Not even gonna ask why I'm here?
No need, you're here so often I forget you have your own home.
I pushed her through the house quickly as she dripped all over my carpets to my room so she could change into some spare clothes of mine. She was busy drying her hair with a towel when she spotted my phone lying on my bed, on speaker.
Who are you on the phone to?
Oh er no one
Sara grabbed my phone before I could stop her, keeping it on speaker as she stood holding it above her hand so I couldn't reach it.
-
"Annie? Are you still there?"
"Hey sexy voice"
"Oh hey, Sara,"
"Oh my god, he knows my name!"
"Give me my phone Sara!"
"So Sexy voice, you've been speaking to my Annie a lot lately,"
"Yeah I guess I-"
"Don't worry, If your face is as good as your voice you'd be perfect-"
"Shut the hell up Sara! I am so sorry Ed, please ignore her, she's just embarrassing."
"Hey don't stress, it's kinda funny."
"While you're here sexy voice, send round some Seaweed thins, the usual"
"Coming right up"
"Ugggghh you're so annoying Sara!"
"I know!"
"I ,er, IÂ feel as though I'm interrupting a meet up here, and my shifts about to end anyway, so I'll yeah I'll be going now."
"That's ok Sexy voice, Annie's about to kill me anyway. If you don't hear back from me I'm probably dead,"
"Talk to you soon then Sara, if you haven't died."
"Hopefully. Annie get your ass here and say something."
"I'm sorry Ed"
"It's ok don't wor-"
"You hung up on him?"
