Ch. 38 Invasion of Vale (JNPR)

Beacon Medical Wing

The Invasion has been going on for a while now, and team JNPR was still licking their wounds after their fight with Doc Ock, and when they heard Goodwitch over the load speakers they wanted to do what they can.  But by the time they recovered to a point where they can fight they realized that their building us put on lockdown, with no way in or out of their hospital room.    Pyrrah tried to open it with her semblance, but upon trying and failing, she remembered that Doc Ock injected her with a Semblance Nulifier formula, so, unfortunately, her semblances full capability now is permanently suppressed.  All she can do now are lift pens and coins for a few seconds. So now out of options so they wait.

Pyrrah is sorrowful for losing her semblance and sitting on one bed leaning on Jauns shoulder, who is trying his best to make her feel better but knows that it will take a while for her to get over this.  Nora and Ren want to help as well but they feel that Jaune and Pyrrah should get some space for now.

Nora: I can't begin to imagine how Pyrrah is feeling.

Ren: I don't think any of us can.

Pyrrah: Jaune?

Jaune: Yeah.

Pyrrah: I'm scared, for as long as I can remember my semblance has been a part of my life, its what made me graduate Sanctum, got me into Beacon, even in everyday life I have used it.  What am I without it.

Jaune: Well your clearly still sleepy because you're talking nonsense.

Pyrrah: *Shocked* What!?

Jaune: Your semblance isn't what got you into Beacon, it was your skill strength, courage, and ability to put your life on the line for other people.  Sure you semblance may have been a part of your life but it only added sprinkles to the cupcake that is your life, and you would do fine without it.  It's the person that makes the semblance not the other way around so don't let it define you, *points to her head and heart* only let what is here and here define you.

Pyrrah: Thanks, I needed that.

A few more minutes pass the team thinking that they are going to be trapped, but then unexpectedly their door opens.

Jaune: What the?

Nora: GHOSTS!

Ren: It's not ghosts Nora.

Nora: HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU NEVER SEEN A GHOST!

???: *Groan*

Jaune: Well whoever it is they sound like they need our help! Let's go!

So Pyrrah and Ren grab their weapons, but Jaune and Nora walk out without any because they were destroyed in the arena. However, Jaune still had his shield.

They then walk out to the hall and see Prof. Conners sitting against the wall after hacking the controls to their door open, but he was in considerable pain because his right arm was now missing, but the wound was bandaged up already.   When the team realizes this they rush to his aid.

Ren: Professor Conners what happened!?

Conners: *Weak* H..el...p, Oz...pin...and...the...oth...ers.

He then falls unconscious.  The team is shocked and confused by his words but they, just roll with it and patch up Conners other wounds, and place him the hospital bed in their room and lock the door so no one can get to him until the lockdown is deactivated.  Now, team, JNPR stands in the lobby of the Hospital Wing, contemplating what to do next.

Pyrrah: What do you suggest we do now Jaune?

Jaune: *Looks at shield* First, Nora, and I need to find some weapons.

Ren then grabs one of his Stormflower pistols offers it to Jaune, who gratefully takes it.

Jaune: Thanks, man.

Ren smiles and nods in response.

Jaune: What about you Nora.

Nora: Don't worry I got that covered.

She then goes into a back room and the loud noises can be heard and then she returns with a titanium trashcan duct taped to a pipe.

Jaune: ...Alright then.

Nora: So what's the plan fearless leader?

Jaune: For now we split up, Pyrrah Nora, you two go up to Ozpins office, and see if he is still there, if not there might be some clues to his whereabouts.  Me and Ren will search the campus looking for anyone who needs our help.

NPR: Alright.

They all nodded and the two teams exited through separate parts of the building.

Timeskip

Pyrrah and Nora carefully walk to Ozpins tower, seeing some rubble in the way and some unconscious teachers, alive but without aura so they were not going to regain consciousness, Pyrrah knew this so they just keep walking, and , they surprisingly without any obstacles in their way, but Pyrrah could not shake the feeling that they where being watched by someone.  Never the less they proceeded to Ozpins tower, and reach the elevator to his office and ride it to the top.

Nora: Pyrrah, this is freaky.

Pyrrah: I know, but I bet as soon as we find Ozpin everything will be fine.

The elevator eventually reaches his office and this a ding the elevator door opens, and the two step into Ozpins quiet office and they can tell that someone is sitting in Ozpins chair, but they could not tell who exactly it was because the chair was facing the window.  The two proceed with caution, toward Ozpins desk.

Pyrrah: Proffecer Ozpin?

She walks ahead of Nora and turns Ozpins chair around only to find Ozpins dead body in the chair with whatever killed him still lodged in his chest.

Pyrrah: *Shocked* Oh God!

Nora: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Pyrrah: Oh god what happened here?

???: Sorry.

Just then two shockwaves come from the darkness and knock Pyrrah and Nora back into a far wall as a figure emerges from the shadows.

Shocker: That information is confidential.

5 minutes Earlier, Beacon Courtyard

Ren and Jaune are cheeking on the unconscious teachers, unaware that they won't wake up anytime soon.  and Unbounouned to them little sand particles have been gathering together a few feet behind them.

Jaune: They are all like this, what do you think happened here Ren?

Ren: Well all of these people where seasoned hunters and huntresses, some may have varied in levels in strength and speed but the fact still remains that they are all great fighters, so either someone really powerful did this or something that they were not expecting.

???: Or both.

They both turn around to see what looks like an 8 ft. tall man made out of sand.

Jaune: *Really Scared* Like that?

Ren: *Scared/disbelief* Y..yeah like that.

Ozpins office

Nora jumps and swings her makeshift hammer down at Shocker but he blocks it with his left gauntlet and uses his right gauntlet to send Nora Crashing into the ceiling and coming back down with a thud.

Pyrrah then swings her sword at him and manages to strike him knocking him back, then she bashes him with her shield, knocking him back further his feet sliding across the room, but he regains his composure and uses his gauntlets to launch himself foward and hit Pyrrah with a powerful blow sending her flying into a wall cracking it, and falling to the floor.

Shocker: You're the 'Great Pyrrah Nikos'? How disappointing.

Beacon Courtyard

Jaune and Ren are running trying to dodge all of Sandman's attacks around firing all the rounds they can at the Sandman, but they are completely invective.  They don't know what to do until Jaune gets an Idea.

Jaune: Hey Ren *dodges hammer attack*  you wouldn't happen, *hit by a giant to have any fire and Ice rounds do you!?

Ren is hit by a sand spike ball and send flying and he lands right next to Jaune.

Ren: *Aggravated* Yeah why?

Jaune: Put them together!

Ren smiled at him, he knew what Jaune met. So while narrowly avoiding Sandmans attack they do just that and put the new crystal into their guns, and for lack of a better word turned Ren's Stormflower Pistols into highly powerful water guns.  And Jauns Idea works as the Sandman starts to turn into a mudman, and getting rid of his near invulnerability.  Ren then takes this opportunity to start hitting him with more lethal rounds, and this time it does hurt him Jaune meanwhile is making more makeshift water crystals, and firing at him so Ren can make those shots count.

Ozpins Office

Pyrrah and Nora are fighting Shocker together, but he is matching them step for step, due to Hermans training as an Atlas soldier, and his shock gloves managed to give him a slight advantage, but he was getting tired.

Pyrrah Pov

This guy clearly had professional training, brut force won't win this

As I start to think of a plan Shocker shocks me back a few feet and I pretend to be down for the count. thinking of a plan.

3rd Pov

Shocker now only focusing on one opponent, hit Nora with a barrage of devastating shock attacks and Nora kept bocking them with their new hammer but the shockwaves eventually broke her hammer and then proceeded with an uppercut and knocked Nora to the ground.

Shocker: *Out of Breath* Well...that...takes care of...

Just then Pyrrahs Javelin lands in front of Shocker, and Pyrrah jumps kicks Shockers head into the bunt end of the Javelin, this causes Herman to get dizzy, so she takes this opportunity to hit him with her shield knocking out cold.

Pyrrah: I'm not the one who should feel disappointed.

She then goes to help Nora up.

Pyrrah: Nora are you hurt?  *Offers her hand*

Nora: *takes her hand* Eh...only my pride.

Pyrrah: Hopefully Jaune and Ren have fared better.

Beacon Courtyard

Ren Is thrown across the yard knocking him out while Jaune was forging more water crystals, and this meant that Jaune was completely defenseless, as Sandman turned in his direction.

Jaune: Oh come...*Punched with a giant sand hammer, and knocked back a few feet.*

Jaune: Well this is...huh.

It was then that Jaune looked in the distance and notice that the Amity Colosium was moving.

Jaune: What the?

Ring

Ring

Ring

Jaune: A call?

He pulls out his scroll while using his shield to hold off Marcos Dust storm attack, once he sees who is calling him and he answers, but not before blocking Sandmans spikeball attack with his shield.

Jaune: *fighting* Y/n oh god are you OK I was...

Spider-Man(call): Colosseum...

Spider-Man(call): S...stop...co...colosseum......*looses consciousness*

Jaune: The arena, *slides under Marcos sweep attack.* What's going on Y/n, Y/n!

He hears only rhythmic breathing on the other end he probably fell unconscious so he hangs up. He then wonders what he meant but, if Spider-Man was telling him to do something he should do it, but how could he get there, but he could not think of that now he just needed to stop, Sandman but...just then Pyrrah and Nora Come and Nora had a fire extinguisher hose and started to spray a lot of water pressure on Sandman, shrinking him down into a mud puddle.

Nora: WEEOOOO, WEEOOOO, Don't worry guys the fire truck is here!

Jaune: Nora!? How did you...

Nora: Ren Called us.

He looks to Ren who is starting to stand up and his holding a scroll and gives Jaune a thumbs up, and soon the team is back together, and the three of them notice just as Jaune did the arena is moving.

Pyrrah: Hey does anyone see the moving arena?

Nora: Is it supposed to do that.

Jaune: Not in that direction, and something tells me we should stop it.

Nora: But how do we get up there?

Jaune: I got an idea *pulls out his scroll and calls Ruby*

Ruby(Call): Jaune!?

Jaune: Hey Ruby.

Ruby(Call): OH MY GOD ARE YOU OK!? SHOULDN'T YOU BE IN THE MEDICAL WING...I...I

Jaune: Ruby, calm down, take a breath.

Ruby(Call): *Deep Breath* Okay, what do you need?

Jaune: Did you notice the moving arena?

Ruby(Call): Yeah its weird it's almost going to be over the entire city.

He thinks for a moment until he has a brainwave.

Jaune: Ruby I need a bullhead to come to the Beacon courtyard NOW!

Ruby(Call): What...I...can send one but they are meant for evacuations I don't think...

Jaune: Those evacuations are not going to mean a damn thing if we can't get to the arena in time.  Please, You got to trust me, Okay.

Ruby(Call): Okay I will see what I can do.

Jaune: Thanks. *click*

Ren: Jaune what's going on?

Jaune: Just think about it...

Timeskip

After Jaune gets his team caught up on his theory that the arena is set to fall from the sky and destroy Vale City the bullhead arrives and Jaune gets on.  The rest of the team think the theory is a little outlandish but they have enough faith in their leader to follow through with this, and they are about to aboard the ship with Jaune but out of nowhere, a Sandy fist grabs the three of them as Sandman's Body starts to reform.

NPR: Jaune!

Jaune: NOOO!

He tries to go out there but the Pilot closes the hanger doors and takes off leaving them behind.

Jaune: WHAT ARE YOU DOING!

Pilot: I am not going to stick around to face that thing...I still have...*Sandman then uses his other hand to hit the bullhead causing it to go out of control, but the pilot barely manages to fly it to the arena but he crash lands on the arena floor in the prosses.

This, unfortunately, kills the pilot but one half of Jaunes aura is still intact, as he stumbles out of the wreckage.

Jaune: Gotta get to the controls.

Timeskip

It took him a couple of minutes but he eventually finds them, as soon as he opens the doors he gets a call from Pyrrah.

Jaune: Pyrrah are you alright!?

Pyrrah(Call): Yes we managed to hold off Sandman for now where are you?

Jaune: I am in the Amity Colosseum control room. *sees a detonator connected to a timer (6:00 min remaining) which is connected to the bomb at the bottom of the Colosseum*  and I see a detonator and a timer yeah they were definitely planning on dropping this thing on Vale.

Pyrrah(Call): Oh Gods can you stop it?

Jaune: I can try and move it and then get someone to pick me up and...oh no...

Pyrrah(Call): OH what, WHAT!?

Someone destroyed the control panel, I can't steer it or stop it!

Pyrrah(Call): *Worried* W..well can you disable the bomb!?

Jaune: Only the timmer and detonator are here I finding the actual bomb would take to long.

Pyrrah(Call): *Frantic* W...well I will call you a bullhead Jaune we...we can find some way to stop it Jaune. Jaune?

He hears this and looks to the door then to the denominator, and does it again, and looks out the window to see that the arena is above the lake between Beacon and Vale before he finally answers Pyrrah.

Jaune: No.

Pyrrah(Call): What!?

Jaune: I am staying here.

Pyrrah(Call): But you just said you can't stop it!

Jaune: I know, but I can make it fall a little early into the lake, and there will be no casualties, but I need to do it manually.

Pyrrah(Call): But...but...you...you're still in there a fall like that could kill you Jaune!

Jaune: *Scared* It comes with the job doesn't?

Pyrrah(Call): Jaune don't do this there has to be another way!

Jaune: *Tearing up* I wish there was Pyrrah...listen to me the Team JNPR is yours now alright, take good care of it.

Pyrrah(Call): *Crying* J...Jaune...please.

Jaune: *Crying* I love you. *click*

He then takes a deep breath and presses the detonator button, and the bomb goes off and the Arena falls into the lake with Jaune in it.
