Ch. 36 Invasion of Vale (RWBY)

The girls are still watching the VNN broadcast of Spider-Mans fight with Doc Ock

RWBY Pov

News Caster: And it seems that Spider-Man has defeated this Doctor Octopus.

Ruby: YESSSSS! HE DID IT!

Weiss: *Relieved* Oh thank goodness he did it.

Blake: I guess this means the nightmare is over.

Blake: *whispers* Scarlet and Sunn can rest.

Yang: See I told you mah man would do it!

VNN: And it seems like Spider-Man, is getting up and walking to the former Beacon professor. Let's get a closer look.

They watch as the camera zooms in, the footage takes a bit to clear up but when it does they could see that Y/n is wearing a new suit.

Ruby: Hey look he made a new suit!

Blake: Looks like it has armor plating.

Weiss: How the hell did he make that so fast!? Any ideas Yang?

Yang: He is smart I'm really not surprised he made one so fast.

The girls mini celebration when they hear the explosion from the TV, as well as outside in the distance, and the News Caster's helicopter starts shaking until the feed is cut, and all that is left are the SMPTE color bars, Yang dashed over to the window to try and find the source of that explosion.

Ruby: What was that!?

Yang: That came from the prison!

Weiss; Oh that's not good.

As she says that the SMPTE color bars on the T.V. go away and it is replaced with a black queen chess piece with a red background, a deep disguised voice started talking.

T.V.: Hello everyone, allow me to introduce myself my name is Salem.

RWBY: Who?

T.V.: And I am here to bring you the truth that your precious guardian angle Ozpin keeps from you.

Ruby: Uhh what's going on?

T.V.: He has never cared about protecting humanity, the four academies were not built to train heroes but to use them as a defense to keep people from the power that hides inside these walls, and he will go as far to guard it with thousands of untrained warriors.

Weiss: That's nonsense.

T.V.: He always suspected I would attack Beacon, from the inside, but in his misguided judgment to protect the school he has forgotten one thing, the people of the city.

T.V.: Vale is full of people whom Ozpin has chosen to ignore by choosing to fortify Beacon to protect his secrets rather than the people he is supposed to protect.  Thus I will show him how many lives his ignorance will cost, as you might have heard the Invasion of your city has already begun and if any Beacon students are watching, I say if you want to save any loved ones you might have...I suggest you hurry.

Then the broadcast ends and the screen goes back to the SMPTE color bars, then all of a sudden another explosion can be heard, then an alarm goes off the intercom and then Professor Goodwitch's voice is heard.

Goodwitch(intercom): All students proceed to the bullhead landing to be deployed in Vale Immediately!

The girls were a little scatterbrained, as this was a lot to take in at once.

Ruby: L..lets go!

Weiss: Wait if every student is going then who is going to defend the school?

Blake: She's right we can't just rush into this if Salem says is true then we cannot leave the schools unguarded.

Ruby: I am sure that the teachers can take care of that.

Weiss: Can they?

Yang: Look, I am also weirded out about that the creepy monster voice on the T.V. but I would rather go to Vale to try and save something I know rather than stay here to defend something I don't know.

Blake: *sigh* Alright let's go do this.

Weiss: Yeah let's do our jobs!

They all nod and leave but Yang grabs Y/n spare web shooters before doing so.

Team RWBY along with many others go to the bullhead landing and there are four bullheads and each one taking as many teams as they can, and team RWBY were in the next group after the bullheads came back, so Yang takes this time to step aside and call Y/n.

Ring

Yang: ...

Ring

Yang: Come on Babe pick up!

Ring, Click

Y/n(call): *Fighting* Hey Sweetie!

Yang: *Relieved* Baby are you alright?!

Y/n(call):  *Fighting* Oh...woah...yeah...*grunt*...everything is...*bonk* fiiiiine.

Yang: *skeptical* It really doesn't sound like it.

Y/n(call): *fighting* Well..I...maaaaaay...*grunt/pant*have just happened to run into the Scorpion, and Kraven, and the two of them...became instant best friends.  I mean they have so much in common they both, like wonton soup, long walks at the beach, making vague angry comments on social media, *swing* aaaaaaaand they both want to kill me.

Yang: *worried/frantic* Oh God where are you!?

Y/n(call): *fighting* At...Juniors old club.

Yang: *worried* We will be there as soon as possible.

Y/n(call): D...*static*...I...*static*....

Yang: Y/n, can you hear me you're breaking up.

Y/n(call): C...*static*...y...*static* *line goes dead*

Yang: Y/n!? Baby!? AHHHH!

In her frustrated state, her eyes turn red and she throws her scroll at the groundbreaking it in half, upon seeing this Ruby goes to calm her down.

Ruby: Yang, he will be OK, I mean he is Spider-Man and we need you to be focused now.

Yang: *Slow deep breath* Yeah your right I can't freak out now.

Weiss: So what's the plan, Ruby?

Ruby: We help Y/n first, and then we help everyone else.

Blake: So how do we get to him?

Ruby: Yang do you still have your motorcycle?

Yang: *sigh* No its in the shop.

Ruby: Damn. Then we run.

Weiss: Run?

Ruby: I'm will go on ahead first, and you three catch up to me when you can, alright?

They all nod semi-confidently.

Timeskip

The bullhead they are on eventually arrives at the drop point and as soon as the hangar door opens Ruby immediately takes off running to Juniors abandoned club.

Weiss: Hopefully Ruby can hold off them off until we get there.

Yang: She can, I trust her.

Blake: Then let's get going.

The three remaining members of team RWBY start running to the old club as fast as they possibly can. They manage to get about halfway there until they are stopped by five Atlas robots, blocking their way.

Blake: What the hell, what are they doing?

Yang: Who cares let's just get through them!

Weiss: Wait! Just trying to go through them, could cause more problems than...

Before she could finish that sentence the bots raised their guns and started shooting at them, but fortunately, the girls manage to dodge them and take cover, Yang behind a wall on the right, and Weiss and Blake on a dumpster on the left.

Weiss: Nevermind!

Blake peaks up from cover to shoot, and the head of middle bot blows up.

Yang: Good shooting.

Blake: Uh that wasn't me.

Then shots come from the ally on the left side of where the robots are and soon enough they all get destroyed, and two Oscorp soldiers walk from the ally and into the girl's line of sight, as they observe the destroyed robots before they turn their attention to them.

Oscorp Soldier 1: Hey you girls alright, don't worry we're not going to hurt you.

The girls are wary at first but do step out of cover seeing no other option and walk to the two soldiers.

Oscorp Soldier 2: Hey are you part of the Beacon evac team?

Yang: We are.

Oscorp Soldier 2: Oh thank god we're here to help you out, by taking out any threats while you get the civilians to safety.

Yang looked confused based on what Y/n has told her about Norman and Oscorp in general.

Weiss: Why did those Atlesian Knights attack us?

Oscorp Soldier 1: It looks like someone or something hacked them, we don't know how but they are all hostile, I mean we found a few...*static*

The troopers get an incoming message in their communications.

Oscorp Soldier 1: Sorry we gotta go.

Oscorp Soldier 2: Good luck Huntresses.

Blake: Thanks?

Weiss: This makes no sense.

Yang: I know but right now let's just get to Juniors, we wasted enough time!

Timeskip

They arrive at Junior's, and they hear a commotion inside, upon hearing this they burst open the doors to find Scorpion unconscious and Y/n, and Ruby fighting Kraven, seeing the two people she loves most in danger was enough for Yang to activate her semblance, shoot herself foward and punching Kraven in the face knocking him out as well as through a wall.  After a few seconds she calms down, and Weiss and Blake run up to them.

Spider-Man: I *pant* thanks *pant* that was starting to get...

she cuts him off by giving him a big hug which he returns, they eventually stop hugging but she doesn't let him go yet.

Yang: *Looks at new suit* You have been busy.

Spider-Man: Yeah its not perfect but the best I could do on short notice.

Yang: And you said that you wouldn't look good in yellow.

Spider-Man: Heh, yeah I was thinking of you when making it *looks at yellow spider symbol* shows huh.

Yang: *giggles* Yeah.

She finally let's go with him and joins her team.

Spider-Man: I am glad you're all safe, and thanks for the help, Ruby.

Ruby: Anytime.

Blake: So Y/n what happened at the station.

Spider-Man: It's...a long story, needless to day Otto just wanted to broadcast that message, which I am sure was ready to play as soon as he let me beat him, fighting me was just to keep me as well as everyone else distracted, form the prison break.

Ruby: So where is he now?

Spider-Man: He got away, it's a long story.

Weiss: What about the broadcast made by Salem?

Spider-Man: No that wasn't Salem!

RWBY: You know who Salem is?

Spider-Man: Eh, sort of Otto gave me the cliff notes version, but That Wasn't Her, It Was Norman That Was Him Talking!

Blake: Wait how do you know that?

*BOOM* *RUMBLE*

Just then an explosion happens outside that causes the ground to shake.

Spider-Man: I know it's a really overdone cliche but I don't have time to explain, all that matters now is you getting these people out of this city.

Yang: Us? What about you?

Spider-Man: Well Norman is out flying on his glider wearing his Grinch cosplay, and I believe its time for round two.

Yang: Wait!

She pulls hands out the web shooters she grabbed back at the dorm and offers them to Y/n.

Spider-Man: Oh I Love you.  *Grabs and attaches web shooters*

Yang: *Lustful smile* I know.

Weiss: What if we can't do this, we are just simple students how are we supposed to save a whole city!?

Team RWBY ponders Weiss' troubling words, she was right everyone on the evac team where all student not fully fleshed out hunters.

Spider-Man: Well there is your problem right there.

They all turn to him.

Spider-Man: You can't think about saving the whole city you have to think about saving one person, girls just think about someone you love.

They then take in the young hero's words and regain their confidence.

RWBY: Thanks.

Spider-Man: *nods* Good luck, I will see you after all this is over.

Spider-Man waves, and exits through a hole in the ceiling made during his fight earlier.

Yang: *whispers* Damn that suit is so damn hot!

Ruby: What?

Yang Nothing lets go.

Timeskip

After team RWBY leaves the club and goes out to do their job and for a while, they are doing a great job escorting people to the evac point and freeing others from the rubble, but now they are holding the line with Team CFVY as well as Oscorp Troopers, from hacked Atlas robots, waiting for the next bullhead to come and take the citizens to safety.

Coco was mowing the weaker targets with her minigun, Ruby was sniping at them from afar,  Weiss was using her glyphs to try and destroy the bigger ones. to  Yang, Fox, and Blake, where finding survivors and bringing them to the rest of the survivors, wich Velvet, and Yatsuhashi, were keeping them calm until the bullhead arrives.

Osbcorp Soldier 3: We can't take much more of this, where the hell is the bullhead!?

Coco: I don't know, just keep firing.

Civilian 1: Are we going to die?

Velvet: No no the bullhead will be here soon.

Civilian 2: Honey I'm scared,

Civilian 3: I know but we're going to be OK I promise.

Ruby: We are going to run out of bullets at this rate.

Oscorp Soldier 4: I got some sniper rounds *tosses them to Ruby, who catches it* make them count.

Ruby: *Reloads* I will

They keep on firing but the robots keep on coming, and soon enough Yang and Blake show up carrying a wounded Fox, with a wooden stake in his leg. and Velvet looks at him with great concern.

Velvet: FOX!

They bring him behind where Coco and the soldiers are holding the line, and Velvet goes to see him.

Velvet: What happened to him?

Blake: He fell through the floor he needs help.

Fox: *In pain* I'm not that bad.

Velvet bullshit, we need to get you out of her, where is the damn transport!?

Oscorp commander: I don't know...wait.

The intercom in the commander's helmet goes off and the evac ships pilot voice can be heard.

Pilot: Commander the LZ is too hot, I repeat the LZ is too hot we will not survive the landing.

Oscorp Solider 3: Well that's just GREAT so where are they going to land now!?

Pilot: Sir we see a clear landing zone down at the docks over.

Oscorp Solider 3: OH you got to be taking a piss we just busted our asses to get here and now we got to go all the way back!?

Oscorp Commander: Can it Gaz! *Turns to the hunters and huntresses* Did you get that we are moving these people to the docks, can you do that while we hold them off?

Ruby: We...

Boom

Before they could decide on anything two buildings catch on fire one right next to them and one two blocks to the right, they can hear people calling for help.  Everyone is in disarray now so Coco being the most experienced there decides to take charge.

Coco: Alright new plan, Blake Yang get those people out of here, Ruby, Weiss, and Yatshashi, get these people to safety, and Velvet...

Velvet: Yes?

Coco: Take Fox and go with them.

Velvet: What about you?

Coco: I am going to stay with these soldier boys here and make sure all of you guy have less trouble to worry about.

Velvet: Alright.

They all do as Coco suggested Yang and Blake go in the direction of the burning buildings while the rest escorts the citizens to the docks.

Yang: I'll take the closer one you take the other one.

Blake: Right.

Blake then runs to the building where she sees a familiar face pulling out his sword from the chest of an Oscorp solider.

Blake: Adam!?

Adam: *Turns and smiles* Hello Blake, its good to see you again.

Blake: You're a part of all this!?

Adam: I'd assume you would come to that conclusion when you saw the White Fang running around, but then again they are wearing prison garments so I guess it makes sense that you wouldn't recognize them.

Blake: Why are you doing this!?

Adam: Because I have to the only way for humans to accept us as equals is to make them fear us first.

Blake: I know, I want equality too but this isn't the way!

Adam: I once believed that Blake, I really truly did. But you have not seen what I have seen, the...

He shakes with fear as he starts thinking about the night that made him what he is now.

Adam: This is the only way Blake, when the humans finally accept us I will stop all this and turn myself in, not before, I need to see this through.

Blake: I can't allow that.

Adam: I know.

Blake pulls out her gun and starts shooting at him but he blocks all of them with his sword, so she turns her gun into a short sword and rushes at him to take a swing at him but he blocks it causing their swords to clash.  They pull their blades about and swing at each other a few more times their blades clashing each time neither of them landing any hits.  But Adam thinks fast by kicking Blake in the leg, making her stumble and he stabs her in the lower left abdomen. Causing her to drop to the floor.

Blake: AHHHHH!

Adam: I'm sorry.

Then Yang sees Adam standing over a wounded Blake, activates her semblence and shoots her self foward, to strike Adam, but he hears this and reacts quickly and brings out his sword and strikes fast and swift, cutting Yang's right arm off.

As her arm flies off and unconscious Yang flies across the room leaking aura from the open wound.

Blake: YANG!

Adam: I...

Before Adam finishes Spider-Man Swing kicks him so hard knocks him across the room.  He lands and runs over Yang and webs up her wound, and falls to his knees Blake could tell he was distraught even under that mask.  Y/n then holds her close to his chest shaking.

Spider-Man: *whispers* I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.

Blake walks to them holding her wound, and Y/n notices Blakes wound.

Spider-Man: Blake! *Webs up her wound from both sides and hugs her*

Blake hugs him back before they break off, Y/n then picks up Yang and hands her to Blake.

Spider-Man: Please get her out of here!

She puts Yang's left arm over her shoulder.

Blake: What about Adam.

He turns to see Adam slowly getting up.

Spider-Man: *Cracks his Knuckles* I'll handle him.

Blake: But...

Spider-Man: Blake Please get her and yourself to safety.

He strokes Yangs hair then looks a blake again.

Spider-Man: Please.

Blake did not want to leave Y/n alone to deal with Adam but she reluctantly agrees and carried Yang to the docks.

Timeskip

Blake Eventually makes it to the docks where Ruby, Weiss, and Velvet are.

Blake: Help!

Ruby: *Turns* Oh my god!

She rushes to them and helps Blake put yang on the ground before Blake collapses next to her due to her wound.

Ruby/Weiss: *Crying* WHAT HAPPENED!?

Blake: A...Adam, we...need to get out of here.

Velvet: I am afraid that can't happen right now.

Blake looks to her confused before Velvet points to the Amity Arena in the sky and it appears to be moving, right now it's over the lake between Beacon and Vale but it is making its way to the city.

Blake: I...is that thing moving?

Ruby: Yeah.

Blake: Why?

Weiss: We don't know but Team JNPR is looking into it they say that...

BOOM

Just then an explosion occurs underneath the flying arena destroying the crystal that was making it float. So without it, the Colosseum falls from the sky fast and hard and it plunges into the lake causing the arena to be destroyed on impact.

The girls look on with great shock and horror.

Blake: *shocked* I...It....just...fell.

Ruby: *Scared* T....team JNPR was in there.

Blake: *Scared* Oh god...do you think they could have survived?

Weiss: *Scared* I...I don't know.
