Ch. 26 The Countdown

10 Days till Vytal Festival

Downtown Vale

Otto Octavius is heading back to his office after buying a new actuator, for one of his secret projects, and now he is walking on a busy sidewalk while on the phone, with Norman Osborn.

Otto: Don't worry Mr. Osborn, I got the materials, Project Null will be completed.

Norman: Good, will it be ready by the end of the Vytal Festival?

Otto: Yes sir the everything will proceed as I planned, the Semblance Dampater will be ready within the week.

Norman: Excellent, now if you will excuse me, my other half need to make a call.

Otto: Alright Mr. Osborn. *click*

Otto then began to rush through the crowd until...

???: Excuse me!

Otto: Woah!

Otto then crashes into a small ginger girl, dropping his shopping bag and spilled its contents.

Ginger Girl: OH I am so sorry sir.

Otto: Oh no it's my fault, I was not paying attention to where I was going.

Ginger Girl: At least let me help you gather your items.

Otto: Oh that would be most appreciated.

The two of them then proceed to pick up the items that Otto has dropped and put them back into his shopping bag.

When that is all done Otto gets up and politely offers the girl a hand up which she gratefully takes and he helps her up.

However, when Otto helped her up he thought her hand felt a more like metal than bone and skin.

Ginger Girl: Thank you, sir.

Otto: Oh I should be the one thanking you, *Brings the actuator out of the bag and holds it in his right hand, and lets out a sigh of relief*

Otto: And it looks like the actuator, is still in working condition.

Ginger Girl: Oh good that is usually important to any piece of advanced technology.

Otto: Oh so you know a lot about technology?

Ginger Girl: Oh yes I, um studied it in school *hiccup*

The girl looked incredibly familiar but he just could not figure out why.

Otto: So you're a transfer student I have not seen you, my class.

Ginger Girl: That's correct sir I am from Atlas.

Otto: Atlas, I studied for a little bit, until...

Ginger Girl: Are you alright mister?

Otto: *ahem, stands up straight* Um Yes, OH and uh my name is Dr. Otto Octavious!

Ginger Girl: *smiles* My name is Penny, Penny Polendina

*CRUNCH*

As soon as she said that Otto Shattered the Actuator that he was holding, with pieces falling to the floor and a few pieces lodged in his hand.

Penny: *Gasp* Oh my gosh Mr. Octavious, are you alright.

Otto did not look at her or at his bleeding hand, he just looked onward as if he was being hypnotized.

Otto: *whisper* They...they...stole...it!

Penny: I...I'm sorry?

Otto: I...I need to get back to...to Beacon.

Otto then just walks away slowly holding his bleeding hand.

Penny: OK then see you later!?

9 Days till Vytal Festival

Ozpins office

He is at his desk working on some paperwork and sipping his coffee waiting for his next appointment arrives, which should be any second now.

*ding*

Ozpin looks up and sees the elevator doors open, revealing Y/n with a nervous look on his face.

Ozpin: Ah Y/n, come in take a seat.

Y/n nods and walks to the seat opposite of Ozpin, and he puts his coffee down stops working on paperwork and turns his attention to Y/n.

Ozpin: Glynda said that you said that you wanted to see me as soon as possible.

Y/n: Yes sir, I have reason to believe that the school has been infiltrated.

Ozpin: *confused* I beg your pardon?

Y/n: Yesterday I was in the Classroom Arena after classes where over, working on some notes, and I saw three students talking to the White Fang, about how things are not going as they originally planned.

Ozpin: Three students?

Y/n: Yes.

Ozpin: Who were they?

Y/n: They where Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury, and I have video evidence.

He pulls out his scroll and shows him the video he took while he was on the ceiling.

Once the video finishes Y/n puts it in his pocket and looks at Ozpin with anticipation as if he was waiting for him to say something, but for the longest time, he says nothing.

Ozpin: ...

Y/n: Sir?

Ozpin: This is very concerning news, and I appreciate that you brought this to my attention.

Y/n: ...So what are we going to do about it?

Ozpin: For the moment nothing.

Y/n: *blink* *blink* What?

Ozpin: We just can't three students in front of the school who managed to infiltrate the facility right under our noses, the council will want us to handle this discreetly.

Y/n: * skeptical* Okaayyyy will that be soon?

Ozpin: Yes, tomorrow evening.

Y/n: *confused* Why can't we just arrest them now?

Ozpin: That would cause mass panic which would attract the Grimm, but don't worry I will have this situation dealt with tomorrow, I promise.

Y/n: Alright?

He then left the office.

Ozpin then leaned back in his chair, contemplating what he heard.

It doesn't take him to long to grab his scroll and dial a number.

Ozpin: Ironwood come to my office immediately we need to talk.

Oscorp Mother Ship: Normans Secret office.

Norman is working on the new GB-1 Glider, and the P.K Bombs when suddenly Otto suddenly entered and Osborn turns his attention to him.

Norman: Hello Otto, what brings you in today.

Otto just gave him a stare and walked up to him.

Otto: The plan has changed Norman.

Norman: ...Excuse me?

Otto: The Attack on the Vytal Festifall, the plan has changed.

Norman: Otto we agreed on this plan months ago.

Otto: Things have changed Ironwood needs to suffer as I have suffered.

Norman: Look I want Ironwood to suffer as well, but am not willing to jeopardize the plan just so he cheated you out of your ideas.

Otto: The plan will remain intact but I will expose Ironwood for the fraud that he is, and I would do it with our without you, and you need me Norman. You can't execute your plan without me, so I give you a choice we do it my way or not at all.

Norman contemplates Otto's words before reluctantly nodding in agreement.

Norman: Alright Otto, what exactly did you have in mind?

Team JNPR Dorm

The team is just chilling with Nora listening to music and reading a magazine, Jaune Reading a comic book, Ren taking a shower, and Pyrrah in deep thought.

Jaune: So Pyrrah, you excited about the Vytal Festifall?

Pyrrah Was snapped back into reality when she heard Jaune's question.

Pyrrah: Wah? Oh yeah sure.

Jaune: *skeptical* You don't sound like it.

Pyrrah: Oh no it's not I am not excited for it, I am just a little worried, about my performance.

Jaune was taken aback when she said this.

Jaune: What but you're incredible, you have won every match you were in.

Pyrrah: That's exactly the Problem!

Jaune: Huh!?

Pyrrah: I have only been fighting the same people there is little variety and after a while, there is no challenge, so how can I improve when I just do the same thing over and over. I just want one fight that really challenges my abilities before the tournament.

Jaune: Hm, I see.

He then gets out his scroll and sends a text to Yang

Jaune: Hey its Jaune, but you already know that you have caller ID, anyway, can you meet me in the courtyard in 10 minutes, I need to talk to you about something.

Yang: Yeah meet you there, VomitBOI

Jaune: Thanks. (And stop calling me that!)

He then puts his scroll away.

Jaune: Don't worry Pyrrah I am sure someone will give you a great fight.

10 minutes later Beacon courtyard.

Jaune is on a bench in waiting and is approached by Yang who sits on the bench across from him.

Yang: So what did you want to talk about Vomitboy.

Jaune: *Sarcastic* Haha.

Jaune: Well I wanted to talk about Pyrrah.

Yang: What about her?

Jaune: Well she is feeling nervous about the tournament.

Yang: What! What the hell does she have to be nervous about?

Jaune: Well she feels like she isn't pushing herself to her full potential because she just fights the same people over and over again and there is no challenge.

Yang: Oh...yeah that actually makes sense, so you want to help her right?

Jaune: Well Yeah, and I would like your help.

Yang: Sure but what could I do?

Jaune: Well I thought that maybe you can ask "Y/n" to fight her?

Yang: Well...*Realization* NO!

Jaune: Come on Please.

Yang: I can't just ask my boyfriend to come to school wearing his best suit, that, how do we explain how he heard about Pyrrahs problem without connecting him to either of us and when they do that it won't be long to figure out that Y/n is...you know.

Jaune: Oh I thought about that.

Yang: What did you have in mind exactly?

Jaune: Well my you know that we went on a mission with him while you were gone right?

Yang: Yeah I know, I am kinda jealous that sounded like a fun mission.

Jaune: It was, um anyway after that we all got lunch and he gave us his Spidey number just in case we needed help again, so I can say I just called him that way.

Yang: *Hesitant* Well I guess that makes sense but you would still have to talk to Y/n about it.

Jaune: Oh, of course, I will call him right now.

Outside Beacon Dorms, for transfer students, Y/n is in a tree making sure that Ozpin actually went ahead and arrested the Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury, and he was wearing his mask so he can use the zoom in function in the lenses. Y/n is getting a little restless, but it is not long after when he gets what he was waiting for and sees General Ironwood himself along with 2 Atlassian Knights 'escorting' Emerald and Mercury. Emerald is handcuffed and blindfolded, and Mercury is on a gurney so he can't use his leg guns.

Mercury: Hey Jackass do you mind telling us what the big idea is!

Ironwood: The idea is that I have video evidence of you and your associate working with the White Fang.

Mercury: What how do you...

Emerald: For god's sake shut up!

Y/n: Oh come on Ozpin if you wanted to do this covertly why did you bring Ironwood into this.

He keeps an eye on them right up until they are brought on an Atlas shuttle and taken to the mother ship.

Y/n: I guess Cinder has flown the coup, hm, I will have to look into that later.

His heads up display then display that he is getting a call from Jaune, and he answers.

Y/n: Hey Jaune everything alright?

Jaune: Yeah I just wanted to talk to you about something.

One long drawn out explanation latter.

Y/n: You want me to fight Pyrrah, right now?

Jaune: Yeah I can reserve the amphitheater, for a team training session. No one else has to know that you are there just my team and RWBY, Please it would mean a lot to her.

Y/n: *sigh* Alright I'll do it.

Jaune: Yes! Thank you!

Timeskip Beacon Ampitheater

Jaune is with Pyrrah in the west locker room.

Jaune: You ready Pyrra?

Pyrrah: Jaune, are you going to tell me who you got to fight me?

Jaune: He is..sort of a celebrity fighter, like you!

Pyrrah: *smiles* How did you convince him to come here.

Jaune: I just called him.

Pyrrah: What?

Jaune: It will make sense in a little bit.

Pyrrah: Jaune this is great but you didn't have to...

Jaune: But I saw how much it was bothering you, and I couldn't bear to see you like that, and you do things for me all the time and I wanted to do something special for you.

Pyrrah: Oh Jaune....

She leans in and kisses him deeply before pulling away

Jaune: ~Wow~

Pyrrah: Yeah....*ahem* anyway I should get going it would be rude to keep him waiting.

Jaune: Yeah good luck.

Jaune takes the exit that moves to the bleachers, while a Pyrrah eagerly walked to the arena.

She was so excited but stops in her tracks as she is surprised to see Spider-Man on the other side and is doing some pre-fight stretches.

Pyrrah: Spider-Man?

Spider-Man: Hey Pyrrah!

Pyrrah: Hello again!

Pyrrah: So you agreed to fight me!?

Spider-Man: Yeah, Jaune said it would mean a lot to you so here I am.

Pyrrah: Aww that's really nice of you.

Meanwhile, up in the stands teams R.W.B.Y and J.N.R are talking among themselves.

Nora: Sooooo, who do you think is gonna win!?

Ruby: *wine* Aww do we have to pick sides?

Nora: Daw Ruby don't think of it like 'picking sides' think of it like having people cheer them on so they don't feel left out.

Ruby: Well when you put it like that....

Nora: I am with Pyrrah!

Yang: Wait, just like that?

Nora: Yeah come on Pyrrah is an undefeated fighting juggernaut.

Yang: Yeah but Spider-Man is a superhero with enhanced strength and reflexes.

Nora: True, what do the rest of you think?

Weiss: I have to go with Pyrrah, she is a world-renowned respectable and trained fighter, he can't possibly keep up with that.

Nora: That's two for Pyrrah, who else will rally with us.

Ren: I'm with Spider-Man.

Yang: Yes!

Nora: WHAT!? Why?

Ren: Pyrrah has to prove something to herself this fight he doesn't so I believe he will be in a more calm mindset thus having the upper hand.

Nora: Traitor!

Yang: YEA! That's two for two, who else with me!

Blake: I will put my bet on Spidy I have seen him in action he has some skills,

Ruby: Well I know Pyrrah a little better, but I will still be rooting for them both.

Jaune: Me too and it would be rude if I didn't cheer on my girl.

Nora alright, enough talk lets just get to the fight, Jaune, put the aura meters on screen.

Jaune then presses a button on his scroll and both Spider-Man's and Pyrrah's aura appears on the big screen in the arena.

Pyrrah Aura: 100%

Spider-Man Aura: 100%

The first person whose aura reaches 15% loses the match

Nora: Five!

Nora: Four!

Pyrrah: *In mind* Okay, just be cool expect the unexpected, and be vigilant, shield in one hand javelin in the other.

Nora: Three!

Nora: Two!

Spider-Man: *In mind* Alright, don't let the adrenaline get to you Y/n, breath slow breath deep relax, hips squared, let her make the first move.

Nora: One! FIGHT!

As she says that Pyrrah quickly turns her javelin into a rifle and fires three shots at Spidey, but he dodges then with his advanced agility, and a few flips, and after he sticks the landing on one the shoots a web at Pyrrahs arm that is holding the shield, making her arm stick to it.

Pyrrah: What the?

Spider-Man: I have seen the way you throw that thing, and I don't want that hitting me in the head.

She then uses her semblance to launch her self at him and while and then she swings her shield at him knocking him at a wall.

Spider-Man: Yeah, I pretty much asked for that.

He then spins two webs at her legs and brings her down, he then jumps over her and in doing so shoots two webs at Pyrrah and lifts her up into the air and slams her down to the ground shaking the foundation a little. (Pyrrah Aura: 84%)

Yang: Damn that was quite a hit.

Nora: Don't give up Pyrrah!

Pyrrah: I don't plan to!

she then gets up and dashes at him with her shield then swings her javelin his jaw and then kicks him across the arena. (Spider-Man Aura: 86%)

Spider-Man: That was pretty cool.

Pyrrah: Thanks.

He then spins a web at behind Pyrrah launch himself at her and lands a punch. Pyrrah then changes her javelin into a gun and starts shooting a Spidey runs circles around her, while Pyrrah is firing her gun she is trying to get her shield unstuck.

Pyrrah: *agitated* How do I!

Spider-Man: Don't worry that will dissolve in eight hours

He then webs up some debris from Pyrrahs shooting and throws it at her, while in the air. (Pyrrah: 75%) Pyrrah then gets really agitated and draws all power her semblance can muster on the shield, to free it from the web witch eventually pays off, as throws it across the room and it bounces off the walls like a pinball. Spidey does his best to dodge it but it ultimately hits him and he flies across the room.

Spider-Man: Ow. Good move. (Spider-Man Aura: 67%)

He is a little shaken but he recovers and leaps back onto his feet and webs Pyrrahs legs then gets in close and lands three punches, Pyrrah tries to land a punch to the side but he blocks it, she then tries to kick him but he manages to grab her leg and pushes it down and webs it to the ground and follows that up with a roundhouse kick, then spins two webs behind to slingshot himself at Pyrrah how knees her in the face and sticks the landing behind her, as Pyrrah falls to the ground. (Pyrrah Aura: 12%)

Yang: AND THAT'S GAME!

Nora: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Ruby: That was sooo coooool!

Pyrrah is groggy and in pain but the aura is already taking care of that.

Then Spider-Man offers her a hand up which she gratefully takes.

Spider-Man: Hey you alright?

Pyrrah: Yeah, thank you! That was the best fight I have had in a while thank you.

Spider-Man: You feeling a little better about the tournament.

Pyrrah: I am even though I lost I do feel like my skills have grown a bit.

Spider-Man: I am glad, now how about we all take a celebratory pizza I think we earned it, well two of us did.

Nora: Hey we did things.

Spider-Man: I am just joking Nora.

Nora: Oh...Yeah I knew that.

Ren: No no you didn't

7 Days till Vytal Festival

Mountain Glenn

Adam is waiting for his contact to arrive, which he eventually does in a glider of some sort.

Adam: I thought you were bailing on me.

Green Goblin: Oh I would never do that to someone as 'important as yourself' Tarrus.

Adam: Remind me again why should I trust someone who dresses like an elf.

Green Goblin: *sigh* Tarrus, I did not come here to trade insults I came to talk, so are we going to talk, or am I going to have to add another name to the body count this place has made.

Adam: Alright fine you wanna talk, let's talk.

Green Goblin: Wise decision boy. Haahaahaah!
