Chapter 227
The Hockey Star’s Remorse by Riley Above Story
11:26 The echo of Bruceâs voice reverberated in the dimly lit room, freezing the air around me, as dread coiled in the pit of my stomach. Fear and desperation consumed me as I took in his demented expression.
âGlad youâre finally awake, Sleeping Beauty?â Bruce sneered.
My mind raced, a surge of disbelief and confusion gripping me. âBruce? How⦠how did you get involved in this?â
Stella, seated nearby with an air of eerie satisfaction, interjected smoothly. âBruce reached out to me, Evie. He wanted to offer his expertise in⦠seeking revenge after the pain you caused.â
Shock coursed through me. âYou⦠you reached out to Stella? You were that desperate to ruin me?â
Bruceâs expression remained stoic. âI offered her a chance to make things right. And here we are.â
My disgust with him somehow managed to grow even bigger, and an overwhelming sense of disbelief flooding my senses. âStella, you know who this is right?â
An eerie silence hung heavily in the dimly lit room. Stella looked up at the ceiling in thought, and it dawned on me how clueless she was about him. Bruceâs cold presence felt suffocating, his eyes holding a glint of malice as they rested on me.
âStella, do you not know who this is?â I demanded, my voice quivering with a mix of fear and frustration. âBruce is my stepbrother, the one whoâs made my life miserable for years.â
Stellaâs composed demeanor wavered for a moment, a flicker of surprise crossing her features before she quickly. masked it with indifference. âIt doesnât matter, Evie.â
My breath caught at her dismissive response. âHow can you say that? This changes everything!â
But Stellaâs voice remained detached, void of empathy. âYour personal history doesnât alter the situation at hand. We have matters to settle.â
Dismay and disbelief coursed through me. How could Stella disregard the significance of this?
Bruce had been. noted as a dangerous individual in the news before, willing to kill. This was more than just a family feud, but she seemed clueless.
âStella, please, listen to me,â I implored, desperation creeping into my voice. âYou canât just ignore this. Bruce hasnât just caused harm to me. He stabbed Timothy before, Iâm sure youâve seen the scar on some occasions.â
Stellaâs eyes held a fleeting hint of discomfort, but she swiftly composed herself. âI understand, Evie. But this is beyond personal grievances. Itâs about whatâs right.â
Anger bubbled within me, frustration boiling over at Stellaâs indifference to the torment Timothy and I had endured. âWhatâs right? How can you stand there and act like this doesnât matter?â
Her voice was cold and resolute. âBecause it doesnât change our course of action. We have our reasons, and theyâre not solely influenced by your personal history.â
A sense of helplessness washed over me as I realized the futility of reasoning with Stella. I was at the mercy of individuals driven by their own motives, revenge the only thing on their minds.
âHeâs dangerous! Do you hear me? You really think heâll let you just go about your business after this?â
Stellaâs voice dripped with detached nonchalance. âIt was an offer I couldnât refuse, Evie. You left a lot of hurt in your wake. Besides, Iâm sure heâs smart enough to know not to screw over a well known heiress.â
âThis is insane!â A violent chill ran through me and I hissed. âI have people looking for me, you know. If you let me go now, Iâllâ¦Iâll give you my earnings for the month, Bruce. Iâm sure you need them.â
But Bruceâs response was chillingly resolute. âThat offerâs long passed, Evie. I donât want your money.â
Terror clenched my heart as his words sank in. I didnât have much else to bargain. At least, nothing I was willing to trade.
His tone remained unyielding. âYou think you can get away with trying to take me out? You and Timothy both will pay for that.â
My breath caught at the mention of Timothy. Fear for him surged through me, a suffocating terror gripping my heart. âPlease, donât hurt him. Heâs not involved in any of this.â
Bruceâs voice dripped with disdain. âHe chose to involve himself when he hit me with his car. I can only imagine the things Iâll do to him when I get my hands on him.â
I clenched my jaw, on the verge of screaming. âHeâs not part of this! Please, Iâll do anything. Just donât hurt him.â

Tears welled in my eyes as I turned to Stella, clutching onto a sliver of hope. âStella, you know you care about Timothy, at least you did once. Youâre just angry, you wouldnât really let anything happen to him.â
Stellaâs laughter echoed coldly through the room, devoid of any warmth. âI think youâre mistaken, Evie. I feel nothing for Timothy anymore. Heâs inconsequential.â
The chill in her words pierced through me, extinguishing the faint glimmer of hope Iâd clung to. Panic clawed at my chest as I nearly collapsed as Bruce hauled me up from the couch.
âWhat are you planning?â I demanded, my voice trembling. âWhere are you taking me?â
Stellaâs smirk sent a chill down my spine. âYouâll see soon enough. Bruce, take her down to the basement. Itâs time to begin our little show.â
âPlease, tell me what youâre going to do,â I cried, attempting to shake myself from Bruceâs grasp. My limbs were still to weak.
Stellaâs response was chillingly cryptic. âJust wait and see, Evie.â
My heart raced as Bruce tugged me forward, dragging me toward a door. Panic and helplessness consumed me as I struggled against his grip, but his strength was overwhelming.
âLet me go!â I screamed, my voice echoing through the hallway.
But Bruce remained unyielding, his grip tightening as he led me down the stairs.
The chilling descent into Stellaâs basement felt like a descent into the heart of darkness itself. Each step I took carried the weight of impending doom, the oppressive silence engulfing me as we reached the threshold of a whiteâwalled room.
My eyes widened in dread as I took in the sightâa setup filled with cameras and an array of ominous tools laid out on a table, a stark contrast against the sterile white walls. Fear clawed at my insides as I stumbled backward, a desperate attempt to evade the sinister display laid out before me.
âWhat⦠what is this?â I stammered, my voice quivering with unease.

My heart raced, panic seizing me as Stella flicked on the blindingly bright lights. The starkness of the room felt suffocating, an unspoken threat lingering in the air.
âWhat are you planning to do?â I demanded, trying to conceal the tremor in my voice.
Stellaâs voice was cold and detached. âOh, just a little show for our audience.â
My pulse quickened at her cryptic response. âAudience? What are you talking about?â
Bruceâs cold smirk sent chills down my spine. âYouâll find out soon enough.â
My eyes darted around the room, panic rising within me as I realized the gravity of my situation.
Cameras pointed at me, their tiny lenses dilating.
âPlease, donât do this,â I pleaded, my voice cracking with desperation. âWhatever your plan is, it doesnât have to be this way.â
Stellaâs indifferent demeanor sent a shiver down my spine. âWeâll be doing whatever it is that we please. Suck it 1.
I shook my head violently. âNo⦠I wonât do this.â
But Bruceâs grip tightened, his cold gaze locking onto mine. âYou donât have a choice.â
I felt a rising sense of helplessness, when I felt a line of thick rope wrap around my limp arms. The center cameraâs red light flickered on, a wave of terror washed over me.
Stella tapped it with her nail, eyeing me closely. âSmile for the camera, Evie. You are now live for all to see.â
