Chapter 89
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Chapter 89
A hint of loneliness flashed across that face full of jokes, but quickly disappeared. He opened the top of his convertible, turned to the woman who wouldnât stop talking and said, âAudrey, letâs leave it at that, donât make me hate you.â
Upon hearing him, Audreyâs face darkened. Without waiting for Bailey, who just came out of the library and hadnât got in the car yet, Jason quickly stepped on the gas and the red sports car sped away
At Elm Street, Allison and Daisy found a restaurant to have lunch
The restaurant was run by a middle-aged woman who was very friendly When she brought over their meat sauce noodles, Allison asked, âMaâam, do you know where I can buy cakes nearby?â
âCakes? There are plenty of places around here, especially at night, thereâs even a night market on the next street.â
The lady enthusiastically explained, âJust a bit north from our shop, thereâs an old cake shop, but youâll have to line up at this time of the day. That shop, itâs the most popular one on Elm Street.â
Wait in line?
Allison guessed itâs probably not that one. Although she was blindfolded that day, the bodyguard who went to buy the cake returned very quickly. It should have been a quick purchase, probably not a place with a long line.
âThank you, maâamâ
Daisy was a bit puzzled, âYou suddenly want to eat dessert? We can go buy some laterâ
Elm Street is an old district in Northfield
The street is close to a middle school, and there are quite a few students coming and going during meal times. When Allison and Daisy came out of the restaurant, they saw the cake shop the lady had mentioned
Daisy said, âIs it this one? Iâll go line up.â
Allison quickly stopped her, âItâs okay, letâs check out other shopsâ
âRight, thereâs too many people in line.â
Without giving it much thought, Daisy pulled her along to find another cake shop.
After hesitating for a moment, Allison stopped, âDaisy, actually Iâm looking for a cake for my mom.â
âYour mom? Isnât your mom in the hospital?â
Allison shook her head, her eyes welling up with tears uncontrollably as she detailed how Lean had taken her mother away.
With all the pressure from recent events, she felt like she had found an outlet, and tears started to fall.
But she left out the part about replacing Penelope and getting an abortion.
After hearing the story, Daisy was both shocked and angry. âThatâs illegal! How could Lean do such a thing!â
âEvery time I visit my mom, they blindfold me, but Iâve calculated the time of the car ride. It should be this street, 1 just donât know which hospital sheâs in now.â
Daisy lightly held Allisonâs hand, âI accompany you, letâs find it together.â
The two of them walked around Elm Street again, finally reaching a middle school at the next street of Elm Street.
A man around his sixties or seventies was selling things at the school gate, with a sign saying âHandmade Cakes. He seemed to have just arrived and was setting up his stall. Allison walked over and said, âSir, I have a pieceâ
A kind old man handed over a piece of cake with a smile. Allison took a bite.
It wasnât sweet, but rich in milk flavor.
This is il
Allisonâs eyes lit up, she looked around at the environment, the school, residential buildings, convenience store.
âSir, do you know if there are any hospitals nearby?â
Allison thought of Graceâs hospital room equipment, which was a standard care room, not a makeshift one. She had checked out several famous big hospitals in Northfield, but the interior design didnât match.
However, Northfield has many small hospitals, the range is too wide.
