Chapter 316
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Sarah said, âYeah, I know, youâre Mrs. Flanaganâ
She sounded cool and polite, no buttering up, it was like she didnât give a hoot about the fancy lady in front of her. At the Red Jack Club, sheâd seen plenty of high and mighty women. Some did demand respect, but this woman, who casually ordered her to fire people, was not one of them.
Leah stared at Sarah, studying her face. Then she got up, looking a tad miffed, as if her dignity had been bruised. Leah hadnât expected a manager to defy her after knowing her identity.
âMs. Sarah.â she said, âmy daughter is the future Mrs. Lindberg. Are you sure you want to cross me?â
Sarah shrugged inwardly, even feeling a tad disdainful. So her daughter wasnât Mrs. Lindberg yet. She dared to use that as a threat? Quick as a flash, she replied. âMrs. Flanagan, what are you talking about? Is not firing Allison the same as crossing you? Thatâs a bit of a stretch, donât you think?â
Sarah had been working at Red Jack Club for a decade; this wasnât her first rodeo with threats. If she caved every time someone tried to bully her, she wouldnât have kept her job as manager.
Usually smooth as silk, Sarah raised an eyebrow slightly, âMrs. Flanagan, I have a meeting shortly. If youâve got nothing else, Iâll be on my way.â
Felt free to take a seat in her office.
Sarah turned around, picked up a file from her desk, and was ready to head out when Leah stormed out first, looking rather peeved.
Sarah stood still, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow slightly. What on earth had Allison done to tick off Mrs. Flanagan?
What a pain.
Leah was seething. She stormed out and saw a woman in a red suit, roughly 30, standing at the door:
The woman smiled, âMrs. Flanagan, nice to meet you. Iâm Serena, the deputy manager here.â
Leah eyed Serena, âSo youâre a manager too.â
Serena stepped closer to Leah. In her high heels, she towered half a head taller than Leah. She bent down slightly, âMrs. Flanagan, if thereâs anything that Sarah didnât help you with, may I assist? Sarah can be high-handed sometimes. Sheâs got backers and doesnât respect anyoneâs dignity at the Red Jack Club.â
Leah had just been snubbed in Sarahis office. Serena, however, was offering her the respect she wanted and she smiled. This woman knew the score.
In Serenaâs office.
Leah put it straight, âFind a reason, fire Allison.â
She was determined to make it impossible for Allison to get a job in Northfield, not even as a waitress.
She couldnât go back to school, which meant no degree.
She loathed Allison and Grace. Ever since that incident, her relationship with Christopher had become more distant. Her daughter was no match for Allison in every aspect. Her husband missed that annoying Grace every day. Well, she would make Graceâs daughter unable to find a decent job!
Serena didnât bother asking for details, she just said, âMrs. Flanagan, itâll take some time. I need to plan it out. After all, we canât just fire staff for no reason. People will think weâre bullying them at Red Jack Club.â
âBut.â Serena continued, âI will make sure youâre satisfied.â
âGood, I care about the outcome, not the process.â Leah took out some money from her bag and put it on the table. Serena laughed and said, âThereâs no need for that, Mrs. Flanagan. I just want to be friends. Money isnât the point. I donât really get along with Sarah, so itâs kind of fate that I can help you today.â
âThank you, Ms. Serena, Iâm glad to have a friend like you. As long as you solve this problem for me, Iâll come to you if I need anything in the future.â Leah left her business card before she left.
Serena smiled as she saw Leah off, then sat on the sofa, sipping her coffee. She needed to find a reason. A reason to fire this woman named Allison.
