Chatper 407
Guardian-In-Law by Five Generals
Chapter 407 Blackmail âWas the other party badly injured?â
Agnes turned pale at the mention of five hundred grand to settle out of court.
Isaac nodded and urged, âGet the money and bail him out. It took a lot of persuasion to get the price down to half a million. The family initially asked for a million dollars. Otherwise, your son would get a jail sentence for the assault.â
Unlike Agnes, Darcy was not easily fooled.
Isaac acted like he had their best interest at heart, but his words carried intimidation. Something did not sit right with her.
Furrowing her brows, Darcy said, âCaptain Oceanid, how did the whole thing happen? Can you give us the recount?
âWe need to know who started it, and who was at fault before we talk about a settlement.â
Isaac pulled a long face and stared coldly at Darcy.
He said irritably, âI hope you donât think Iâm lying to you. The victimâs family is demanding compensation, or they will file charges against your son, and they have the means to do so. You canât afford to take them to court. Itâs in your best interest to settle out of court before itâs too late.â
Standing on the sidelines, Kaze realized something was off about Isaac.
He pointed at the Maserati Quattroporte parked out front.
âCaptain Oceanid, they have the means to go to court, but so do we. I +25 80 think we should meet with Sky and get an idea about what happened before anything.â
Isaac was the type to judge a book by its cover, so the quickest way to get through to him was to show that the Quints had money and resources too.
âHmph. Quattroportes are common. I doubt they cost much. So you have some money. It doesnât mean anything.â
Isaac scoffed in disdain.
He thought Kazeâs family owned a small business and that they probably did not have access to huge funds or power.
If the Quints had money and power, they would have made phone calls to pull some strings instead of rushing to the police station.
âItâs your choice whether you want to make payment. As far as we know, Sky will have to face jail time unless you reach a settlement.â
Kaze smirked.
Isaac was untrustworthy for keeping things vague.
A civilian would have been fooled.
Kaze said curtly, âCaptain Oceanid, weâre not saying that we wonât compensate the family, but we should at least get a face-to-
face meeting with the victimâs family-â
âCan you shut up, Kaze?â
Agnes yelled, cutting him off.
âDonât interfere. I wonât forgive you if Sky ends up in jail because of you.â
She glared at Kaze before turning to Darcy. âWithdraw the money to save your brother, Darcy.â
+25 BONUS Kaze walked out without another word.
He pulled out his phone and gave Don a call.
âCan you give me a moment, Captain Oceanid? Iâll get the money now.â
Although Darcy found Isaac questionable as Kaze did, she caved in to Agnesâ urging to bail Sky out.
âHurry up. The family is waiting. I canât help you if you delay this any further.â
Isaac waved Darcy off arrogantly, his eyes flickering in delight.
Darcy went to withdraw the money.
Meanwhile, a group rushed out from inside the building.
Isaac went up to suck up to the middle-aged man leading the group.
âCap, whereâs the whole crew headed? What situation requires your presence?â
Derrick Maverick ignored him.
He looked around the room before taking quick paces to Kaze.
âAre you Mr. Lee? I am Derrick Maverick, captain of the Southend police.â
time about?â
