Chapter 984
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 984:
? ? ? ? ?
The day before the operation, Luis visited Raegan.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, Luis maintained his usual kind and charming demeanor, hiding his deep concern for Mitchel's condition.
Knowing that Raegan had been resting, Luis kept the conversation light, as Raegan seemed more withdrawn after the recent tests.
Luis's visit was brief, but before leaving he assured her: "Raegan, I will definitely save Mitchel. "Soon it will be back to what it was before."
Raegan responded in a soft, grateful voice: âThank you, Luis. Thank you for everything you are doing for him.
That night, Raegan went to Mitchel's living room. Before, he had only glimpsed the scene from his wheelchair. This time, looking through the glass window, he could clearly see Mitchel lying on the hospital bed.
The days of coma had taken their toll. Mitchel appeared noticeably thinner, with sunken cheeks, giving him a gaunt and skeletal appearance.
His body was hooked up to numerous tubes and machines, indicating that he was not out of the woods yet, and these life support devices were essential to his survival.
Raegan looked through the glass, watching Mitchel in silence for a long moment. Despite his state of weakness, his features retained a surprising beauty.
After a while, Raegan finally made a firm decision. Knowing that Mitchel would have surgery tomorrow, she decided not to be in the hospital with him, fearing that she would bring him bad luck just as crazy Katie had repeatedly screamed.
In reality, Raegan had had a hard time for the past half month.
Precisely, he had become discouraged at the moment when the elevator doors of the wedding venue opened and the murderer fired.
Before the elevator doors opened, Raegan was able to brush off Katie's harsh comments, dreaming of a blissful future with Mitchel and her children.
He had thought about whether Mitchel's condition was terminal. She imagined accompanying him to the end with his children, making sure he didn't regret anything.
Staying together as a family was a bond, and even if one had to leave first, having spent the days together happily meant that they would meet again in the afterlife.
Despite his pain at the prospect of losing Mitchel, he had taken the assassin's bullet for her. Raegan realized that the only thing she could do was be by his side, offering him comfort. She believed that the hardest times were behind her and that brighter days lay ahead.
However, everything changed when the elevator doors opened. Katie's spiteful comments seemed to be terribly true.
Raegan thought back to her previous days with Mitchel, when problems seemed to never leave them. Mitchel was stabbed, fell off cliffs and spent days on a boat, repeatedly diving into the water just to find her. Toxins, explosives and now a gunshot wound... One disaster followed another as if destiny would not stop until it took his life.
During the last two weeks in the hospital, Raegan even began to wonder if she was carrying some kind of curse that condemned Mitchel to endless suffering.
Repeatedly hearing the grim updates about his critical condition and ineffective treatments, Raegan felt as if an enormous weight was pressing down on her chest, unyielding.
She felt trapped, with no other option. He feared he was truly a curse to Mitchel's well-being. Leaving seemed like the best option.
Deep down, he knew he still loved Mitchel. However, he couldn't let his love destroy him.
Standing before the glass, Raegan experienced the rapid passage of time as she looked at Mitchel. He didn't want to say goodbye to him.
However, his presence here not only seemed useless, but could do more harm to him. With this thought, he felt his heart tear, the pain was so sharp that it was difficult for him to breathe.
âMiss Fosterâ¦â Came Matteo's surprised voice.
Raegan turned away quickly, wiping away her tears before facing Matteo again and saying, âMatteo.â
