Then, they placed her on the operating table.
After a considerable wait, the babies were born.
The cries of the newborns startled Raegan. He opened his eyes and saw two adorable, furry little heads, with features of Mitchel's handsome features, clearly destined to be heartthrobs.
Raegan was overjoyed. The door to the operating room opened and Janey burst in happily. "Mommy, I want to see my little brothers!"
Landen held Janey gently, warning her softly, âEasy, honey. Don't wake up your brothers..."
Janey looked at the little bundles in the crib and clapped her hands excitedly. «What monkeys! How cute my brothers are!
Erick laughed and joked, "Janey, how about I take your brothers home for a couple of days?"
"No way!" Janey crossed her arms and pretended to be stern.
"Erick, can't you give birth to your own baby?"
Erick burst into laughter. «I directly cannot give birth to babiesâ¦Â».
Janey, still crossing her arms, bewildered, asked, âMom can have babies. Why can't you? Are you not human?
Erick was speechless.
The room burst into laughter at his innocent words.
Raegan, filled with love, watched the joyful scene before her, but felt something was wrong. She turned to Janey and asked, "Janey, where's your dad?"
Janey looked at Raegan, confused. "Mom, what are you talking about?"
Raegan was stunned. He quickly added: âYour dad. Wasn't he out? Please go call him.
A wave of disappointment washed over Raegan. He had hoped that Mitchel would be the first to see his newborns, his children.
However, Janey's confusion increased. «Mom, there is no dad. "I've never had a dad."
Shock coursed through Raegan. There had never been⦠How could it be?
He turned to Landen urgently. «Dad, have you seen Mitchel? I was out. Could you call him for me?
Landen's voice was soft but firm. Raegan, didn't we agree not to mention him in front of the children?
Raegan, bewildered and frustrated, questioned, "Why can't we bring it up?"
I didn't understand why we should avoid mentioning Mitchel's name. He was the children's biological father, her husband. Why should his name be taboo? He played a role in her children's lives and had recently comforted her so tenderly. How could it have disappeared?
Turning to Erick with a pleading look, Raegan pleaded, âErick, can you go call him for me?â
Erick was silent for a moment, then asked, âRaegan, where do you expect me to find it?â
