Chapter 966:

Only when Lorenzo's features were unrecognizable did Katie finally stop. He leaned close, caressing the ruined face with twisted affection, his laugh chilling.
âLook how much better you look now⦠You should have practiced moreâ¦â she muttered to herself, a clear break in sanity evident in her voice.
He crawled to retrieve a small, elegant pistol, then stood shakily. «You hide well. "I'm going to look for you all." He let out a laugh that traveled down the hallway.
Meanwhile, Raegan didn't dare slow down. He hurried his steps towards the elevator. Taking the stairs was not an option, given his physical condition compared to his pursuer. The elevator was a risk, but their only viable escape.
Once inside the elevator, Raegan frantically pressed several floor buttons and then the close button on the door.
The sound of footsteps grew louder, approaching the elevator just as the doors closed.
Raegan breathed a deep sigh of relief, watching as the doors closed just in time.
But an even greater danger awaited Raegan. The uncertainty of what awaited him when the elevator doors opened. He had dropped all his belongings in the chaos and now only had a stun gun in his hand.
When the elevator announced its arrival with a âding,â the doors opened to a seemingly empty hallway.
Just as Raegan began to relax, a large hand grabbed her and pulled her up.
«Ah! "Let go of me!" Raegan closed her eyes and tried to use the stun gun, but it didn't work. Its battery had died after just one use.
With no other option, Raegan swung the device wildly, using it as a blunt weapon. «Let go of me! "Let go of me." His voice was tinged with panic.
âRaeganâ¦â The soft pronunciation of her name stopped her frantic movements.
Raegan looked up, her expression turning from fear to shock.
âMitchelâ¦â He gasped, recognizing the face before him.
Mitchel's eyes were red, a silent confirmation of his identity. "Yeah."
«Mitchel! It's really you!
"Yes!" he replied.
Raegan hugged him tightly.
There she was, alone in the spacious hotel, having taken drastic measures and now facing the unknown. The ordeal had been truly horrible and had made her feel completely vulnerable.
He had tried hard to maintain a facade of strength, but upon seeing Mitchel, that facade crumbled. Tears streamed down her face, accentuating her fragility in her disheveled state.
Mitchel's heart ached as he wrapped her in his arms. âRaeganâ¦â
"I'm so angry, and so scared," she murmured.
Raegan's emotions were overwhelming, but then she realized that Mitchel was standing awkwardly on one leg, his knee stained with blood.
"Are you OK? Your leg..."
