Chapter 897

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 897:

? ? ? ? ?

Just then, a passing waiter warned Raegan of a slippery floor ahead and advised him to use the back exit to avoid the danger.

Raegan saw spilled oil on the floor ahead, making it slippery, so she went out the back door instead.

As Raegan approached the back door, her gaze lifted, revealing the unexpected sight of a familiar but unwelcome figure, someone she had been hoping to avoid. Why did he always bump into Katie?

Raegan sighed inwardly, feeling so unlucky to run into that face. Her eyes moved away from Katie, determined to walk past him without a word, avoiding any possible confrontation.

Katie's voice unexpectedly pierced the air. "What a coincidence, don't you think?"

Raegan ignored Katie, not wanting to get caught up in a conversation and tried to walk around her.

However, Katie grabbed Raegan's arm, stopping her, and scolded her: "Where are you going? "How rude you are for not answering me."

Raegan replied coldly, "You have to be polite to people." When it came to threats to her safety and that of her son, the façade of civility was unnecessary.

Furthermore, Raegan had little faith in Katie's ability to offer anything of value to the speech. It would surely turn into empty bluster on Katie's part, a spectacle Raegan had neither the patience nor the desire to endure.

Katie bristled at Raegan's indirect insult. "You're insulting me!"

"I am direct when I insult someone." Raegan replied with a cold smile, "Yes, I mean you."

Katie's anger twisted her face as she glared at Raegan. «How can you be so vile? Mitchell doesn't love you anymore! What makes you think that you ever…?

Katie stopped mid-sentence, suddenly falling silent. She couldn't let Raegan know she was pregnant.

But Raegan's instincts kicked in and she became instantly alert, especially when Katie's piercing gaze swept over her, making her palms clammy with nervous sweat. He wondered if Katie was hiding something, or if she had discovered a secret.

At this thought, Raegan felt a wave of unease and quickly stepped aside, her voice firm but measured as she said, “Please step aside.”

Katie stood motionless, her arms crossed defiantly, her eyes glowing with dark intensity, piercingly fixed on Raegan. Raegan seemed to be nervous. How interesting.

Katie's suspicions grew and she became increasingly convinced that Raegan's child was Mitchel's, her mind racing with the implications.

Raegan, Katie thought, was using the boy as a pawn to manipulate Mitchel. How could Katie allow Raegan to succeed?

Even though Mitchel died, Katie felt that he rightfully belonged to her and she couldn't bear the thought of Raegan claiming him.

Katie's voice dripped with malice as she sneered, “You're still hell-bent on stealing my man, right? Are all the women in the Foster family destined to become lovers?

Raegan intended to leave, but Katie's venomous words stopped her in her tracks. He turned around, his eyes narrowed, and asked, "What exactly do you mean by 'women of the Foster family'?"

Katie's face fell as she realized her mistake. He had almost revealed a secret about Casey. He had just found out from his father's confidant. But the truth remained uncertain, leaving open the possibility that Casey had been secretly kidnapped by Davey. What nonsense about the talented Casey retiring?

From what he had learned, Casey had abandoned her husband and children, carrying on a shameful affair with Davey without even the decency of a formal separation.

Katie scoffed, “You're just a Foster woman through and through!”

Raegan's eyes narrowed; his voice high pitched as he pounced on the slip.
