Chapter 795

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 795:

? ? ? ? ?

The car finally arrived at Nicole's apartment, and Jarrod insisted on walking her to the door.

Nicole looked at him cautiously, worried that he still had intentions of sleeping with her, and said quietly, "You can come to the door, but not inside."

Jarrod giggled at her unexpected shyness and coughed, "I haven't slept for several nights. "I'm too tired for anything else."

"Who would have thought!" Nicole replied as she entered the elevator. Jarrod's desire had been all too evident a few moments ago.

Jarrod stopped short and then followed her, his smile growing wider. Since Nicole's return, he hadn't laughed as much, although his distrustful side was still present. He asked, "Nicole, are you up to something?"

Nicole looked away, her face a mask of sarcasm, and replied: “You already suspect me. Even if I say no, would you believe it?

Jarrod didn't answer, but posed another question. "Can I trust you?"

Silence stretched between them, and Jarrod's dark eyes deepened as he repeated, "Can I trust you, Nicole?"

«Jarrod, the biggest mistake of my life was meeting you. Now that my parents are dead and my reputation is ruined, do you really think I can say that I don't hate you?

Jarrod watched Nicole silently, not surprised by her response.

Nicole gave a bitter smile. «I am limited in what I can do, since I cannot face you. I don't even know how much time I have left to live. I can't fight anymore and I give up. From now on, you can do whatever you want with me. Is that okay with you?

Her voice was hollow and weak, and her pale face made her look even more exhausted, as if even her breathing was strained.

In an instant, Jarrod's doubts disappeared.

Nicole added quietly, “I've already said what I had to say. Whether you believe it or not is up to you.

The elevator rang and the doors opened.

Nicole walked out, but her arm was suddenly pulled. The next moment, Jarrod pressed her against the elevator wall.

Nicole instinctively closed her eyes, bracing herself for a pain that never came. Jarrod had rested his hand on the wall, cushioning the impact against his head.

Jarrod looked down at her and whispered, “Nicole, I don't often mean to hurt you. But every time you look at another man, I want to tear his eyes out. I have realized that this obsession and possessiveness only happened to me when I was with you. Maybe I never really hated you. All this time, I just wanted you by my side.

Nicole looked at him and her lips curled into a teasing smile. She wanted to say something, but he pressed his fingers against her lips.

«I know that nothing I say now will be able to undo the damage I have caused to your soul. But if you really want to stay, I promise you that I will try to change.

Jarrod reached up to caress the back of her neck, pressing her head against his chest and holding her close. In a low, raspy voice, he said, "Nicole, let's spend our lives like this, forever."

Although hate was the only thing left in his heart, he couldn't let her go.

Nicole let herself be embraced without resistance, perhaps too tired to protest. His gaze, directed downward, was unexpectedly serene. He hid his hatred, burying it deep and far away.

For the first time as they separated, Jarrod felt something different stirring inside him. Blocking the door with one outstretched leg, he smiled at Nicole and joked, "Won't you let me in?"
