Chapter 793
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 793:
? ? ? ? ?
Jarrod stared at Nicole and asked her bluntly, "Would you rather stay at the Oasis or go back to the villa we used last time?"
Feeling a chill at his words, Nicole felt trapped. Both options seemed like prisons to him. After hesitating, he asked, "Can I stay at home?"
Jarrod smiled, a hint of amusement in his expression. «You are still recovering. It would be best if you stayed close so someone can take care of you,â he explained softly.
It was a polite way of saying that Nicole had no choice.
Jarrod was determined to keep Nicole close and wouldn't take no for an answer.
Nicole let her eyelashes droop and murmured resignedly, âI'm moving into your house tomorrow night. "I need to go home tonight to put things in order."
«What do you need to pack? "I'll have someone take care of it."
Jarrod tried not to overwhelm Nicole, especially since she still hadn't fully recovered.
Unexpectedly, Nicole lost her temper. She turned sharply and her eyes locked on him. âJarrod, do you really need to have me by your side in such a controlling way? Can you even understand how I feel? "I feel like a captive, without a voice or vote."
Jarrod pursed his lips and his face darkened. "I didn't mean that."
âSo what was it?â Nicole asked, her eyes wide. In a moment of anguish, he vigorously wiped away his tears, his voice trembling. «Yes, I agreed to obey you, but now I only ask of you for one night in my own house. You can't even allow me that. Do you see me as a person?
Nicole knew that if she insisted on spending the night at her house, Jarrod, with his suspicious nature, would probably say no. But her teary eyes and the sad look on her pale face softened his posture, making him lower his defenses.
Jarrod raised his eyebrows slightly and softened his tone. «I didn't say you couldn't. So, tomorrow night. "I'll come pick you up." For the first time, he made a concession.
"Let's go. I'll take you home now." Jarrod moved to put an arm around her shoulders, but Nicole, still upset, quickly pulled away, rejecting his attempt at comfort.
"Don't you want to leave?" Jarrod, surprisingly kind this time, simply smiled, bent down, and scooped Nicole up into his arms, carrying her out of the hospital room.
"Hey!" Nicole, surprised by his sudden action, instinctively grabbed onto his neck, annoyed. âJarrod, put me down.â
Jarrod, feeling cheerful, laughed softly, mocking her: "I thought you didn't want to walk?"
«I never said that. I justâ¦â Nicole cut herself off and stopped abruptly.
Jarrod followed Nicole's gaze and saw, across two hallways, Roscoe sitting in a wheelchair, his face devoid of emotion as he was wheeled away for a checkup.
As if sensing the gaze, Roscoe turned his head with a deep look. However, his gaze was not directed at Jarrod. She was focused on Nicole, who was in Jarrod's arms.
Seeing the exchange of glances, Jarrod felt a surge of jealousy. "What are you looking at?" he asked abruptly.
âNothing,â Nicole replied quietly.
Nicole was the first to look away, but Jarrod noticed her rigid face.
There had been a time when Nicole's eyes contained only Jarrod's. However, time and misunderstandings had erased the possibility of such moments.
