"But you might also be busy with work," Raegan pointed out.
«I will make sure to finish my tasks soon. "I don't want you to come home late without me," Mitchel replied, with obvious concern.
Raegan, trying to ease his worries, reassured him: âThere's nothing to worry about. My driver is trustworthy and VÃctor is with me, so I am in good hands.
A brief silence followed before Mitchel's voice, deep and suggestive, broke in. "Don't you miss me?"
Raegan's response was immediate. "At all.
Her response, however, hid her true concern for Mitchel's well-being, especially given the day's tumultuous events at the Dixon Group, not to mention the stress of him potentially leaving to look for her late at night. .
With her bodyguard and house chauffeur at her side, Raegan felt safe.
Mitchel, detecting the hesitation in her voice, insisted with a hint of amusement, âSo, you really miss me?â
Surprised, Raegan was speechless. Mitchel's insistence was unusual, but it attracted a genuine response from her. "I miss you so much..."
His voice was sincere, reflecting the depth of their recent closeness.
The days they had spent together, lost in their own little universe, had only intensified their connection, making their current separation even more poignant.
Mitchel challenged her playfully: "That sounded a little lukewarm, Mrs. Dixon."
Raegan, with a mixture of joking and defiance, replied: "And who is his wife?"
Mitchel responded with a mocking tone. "The same person who whispered 'husband' to me so sweetly last night..."
Raegan felt her cheeks heat up with embarrassment at her own outburst.
"Who asked you to be so charming!"
The conversation was abruptly interrupted, leaving Raegan in a moment of stunned silence. Realizing how easily she had gotten carried away by the moment, she covered her mouth in surprise.
"It's over, I'm not going to talk to you anymore!" Raegan declared, a mix of feigned annoyance and actual embarrassment in her voice, before abruptly ending the call.
On the other end of the line, Mitchel couldn't help but smile, a subtle feeling of satisfaction washing over him as he put his work aside and relaxed a little.
After finishing her chores, Raegan realized how late it was. She put on her mask and was about to go downstairs with Victor when she realized she had left her bag behind.
Victor, seeing Raegan's tiredness, kindly offered to go look for her. âMiss, please wait for me in the car.â
Raegan nodded. "OK". He pressed the button to close the elevator doors, but just as they began to close, a tall figure made a quick entrance, narrowly sneaking in.
Surprised, Raegan's heart skipped a beat and she instinctively moved to exit the elevator.
However, before he could exit the elevator, the doors had already begun to close, sealing his descent.
