Chapter 657

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Erick's expression became thoughtful. "I'm willing to lend a hand."

He had already thought about Mitchel's plight and found it suspicious. Mitchel's stature in the business world was well known.

Was it plausible that he would be harmed by a few former partners and newcomers? That concern was outside Erick's immediate purview.

Still, eager to ease Raegan's concerns, Erick offered, "I'll talk to him to better understand the situation."

Curiosity also influenced his decision. Erick wanted to observe Mitchel's countermeasures, possibly gleaning ideas for his own knowledge.

“Thank you, Erick,” Raegan responded, a smile lighting up the screen between them.

Erick, delighted by her expression, commented: "You always look prettier when you smile."

With the conversation over, Raegan turned her attention back to the kitchen, tending to the dishes.

Without her realizing it, Mitchel had been watching in silence for a while. The warm glow of the kitchen light, Raegan's graceful figure moving from side to side, and the appetizing aroma of porridge painted a serene picture. It was a welcome respite from the betrayals of the day, so much so that Mitchel hesitated to disturb the calm, cherishing the moment of silence and peace.

The day had broken out with Alexis revealing her true nature, after years of machinations against Mitchel.

In a charged confrontation in the office this afternoon, in which false paternal affections were brandished, Mitchel mockingly told Alexis: "You can stop acting."

Alexis, smug in his supposed ascendancy, did not bother to mask his contempt, declaring: "What I regret most is having you."

Every word Alexis said made a deep impression on Mitchel.

Despite his stoic exterior, Mitchel had held out hopes for family warmth and unity. However, that aspiration had been shattered time and time again, culminating in the day's revelations.

Even his mother, whom Mitchel had always defended, turned against him when it mattered most.

The longing for fatherly love, once a beacon of hope, had been completely extinguished, leaving Mitchel to face the reality that his expectations may have been too high.

“Ah!” Suddenly, Raegan's cry of pain snapped Mitchel out of his reverie, prompting him to quickly approach her.

«What happened? “Are you okay?” he asked, worried.

Raegan jumped, not expecting to see Mitchel awake. "Oh, are you awake?"

Raegan had accidentally burned herself a little when the crock pot spilled while she was adjusting it.

Noticing her burned fingers, Mitchel quickly turned off the stove and took her to the sink to cool the burn under running water.

Then he found some burn ointment and began applying it to his hand.

Raegan tried to push him away. "No problem. "I just need some ice."

Mitchel took some ice and carefully put it on his fingers to soothe the burn. "Silly, why are you cooking at this hour?" he mocked.
