Chapter 618

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

? ? ? ? ?

«Tug along, Mitchel. Let's go to your office," Raegan insisted.

They could not afford any more public spectacle. Raegan knew full well that Mitchel, as CEO, losing his cool in front of staff would spread like wildfire. His already shaky position in the company would sink even further, fueled by this incident.

Furthermore, without understanding the full picture, people would naturally side with the apparent loser.

Nobody wanted an impulsive leader.

As expected, the crowd began to murmur.

«How could Mitchel fall so low? Even if you can't stand Henley, fighting in the office is not the answer.

“Henley is always polite to the receptionist and often invites us to dinner. "A kind soul like him doesn't deserve this kind of harassment!"

«Yes, Henley is a gem. Remember when he helped me carry that stack of printer paper? "No airs of superiority, just genuine kindness."

Under normal circumstances, no one would dare express these opinions in front of Mitchel. But with his recent decline in popularity due to his illness and Alexis' meddling, factions were forming within the company.

Those speaking now were probably allies of Alexis, along with some fooled by Henley's façade of kindness.

Raegan cast a meaningful look at Henley, lying on the ground, not fighting. Was Henley really impotent? Everything seemed like an act, from his previous teasing to his current theatrics aimed at provoking Mitchel. If Henley was playing dirty, they couldn't let him off the hook.

Mitchel ignored the whispers, his attention fixed on Raegan. He scanned her for any signs of injury, his voice soft as he asked, "Are you hurt anywhere?"

At his question, Raegan's tears broke free, cascading down her cheeks uncontrollably.

Mitchel frowned in concern and moved to hug her, but Raegan gently pushed him away. She didn't want to hide her tears behind her hug.

Today, Raegan had put on a bucket hat to avoid attracting attention, making it difficult to see her face clearly. Only her rosy lips and tear-soaked chin were visible, and her trembling shoulders betrayed her anguish.

Mitchel, about to say something, was interrupted by Raegan's delicate but surprising voice. "Mitchel." He pointed to Henley, who was now pretending to limp to gain sympathy, and accused him in a snide tone: "He harassed me..."

Raegan's accusation caused murmurs among the spectators.

Raegan continued, “I came to bring you soup and when he saw me he asked me who I was looking for. Even after I told him it was you, he continued..." She choked, apparently too embarrassed to say the rest.

Then she added indignantly: "He even touched me!"

At first, Mitchel furrowed his eyebrows at Raegan's unusual behavior, but then he relaxed. She wouldn't act like that if she was really angry. He remained silent, playing along.

Then, Raegan sobbed, her hands trembling as she shook Mitchel's shoulders with a dramatic touch. "I told him I was your girlfriend, but he still tried to come on and even spilled the soup he had brought for you."

The spilled soup was on the floor for everyone to see, diverting their eyes from the scene at hand. Suddenly, his perception of Henley began to change. His admiration dimmed.

"Can Henley really be such a person?" they wondered aloud.

Henley, for his part, was completely surprised by Raegan's actions, half convinced that he was under some spell.
