Chapter 541

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

? ? ? ? ?

"I'm making dinner, honey." Raegan smiled.

“Wow, is someone special coming? Can we ask dad to come with us? "I miss him." Janey's eyes, large and full of hope, shone with excitement.

Raegan, softened by her daughter's adorable face, couldn't help but smile. "Actually, the guest is your dad."

"That?" Janey's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Oh really?"

Raegan nodded.

Janey bounced with joy. «It's incredible! Mommy, I love you so much!

Janey's joy spread like wildfire.

Raegan gently squeezed Janey's cheek and asked, "Janey, would you be happy if your dad lived with us all the time?"

"I'd love to!" Janey smiled. "I wish dad could always be with us and never leave."

Raegan saw the genuine affection Janey felt for Mitchel. But was this affection the result of longing for a father figure or was it the natural bond of kinship?

Raegan crouched down to Janey's height and asked, "Janey, do you like Mitchel because he's your father or because you really like him as a person?"

Janey, taken aback by Raegan's question, offered her own understanding.

«My teacher says that people have auras. If you like someone, it's because you feel like they like you too. I feel like dad loves me as much as I love him.

Raegan was surprised. It seemed that even a girl who was not yet five years old had deeper insights than her.

After Annis took Janey out to play, Raegan's mind was still racing. He knew his heart was fluttering because of Mitchel. He remembered the question Mitchel had asked him at his door last time and decided he wanted to answer it tonight.

I didn't want to push him away anymore. I wanted to try it. For Janey, and for herself, it was time to leave the past behind.

Raegan went back to preparing dinner. When he finished, it was almost seven in the afternoon.

Raegan placed the dishes on the automatically warming table, making sure they didn't get cold within an hour.

Afterwards, Raegan and Janey sat down to wait for Mitchel to return.

For a brief moment, Raegan felt as if she had stepped back in time. I used to wait for Mitchel like this five years ago. And now they had a daughter together.

As time slowly passed, Janey's stomach began to growl. Pouting, he looked at Raegan and asked with a hint of sadness, "Mommy, when is Dad coming?"

Raegan, feeling a mixture of helplessness and impatience, replied, “I'm not sure, honey. Give me a second to call him and find out where he is.

Picking up the phone, Raegan dialed Mitchel's number.

The phone rang and rang, but there was no answer.

A feeling of shipwreck began to settle in Raegan's heart. I had a feeling that Mitchel wouldn't be coming tonight. Because? If he knew he was going to be late, why hadn't he told her?

"Why didn't Dad pick up the phone?" Janey couldn't hide her disappointment when she noticed Raegan's worried look.

Trying to lift his spirits, Raegan offered him a reassuring smile. «He's probably busy with something right now. How about we start dinner first?

However, Janey shook her head firmly, insisting, “No, I want to wait for Dad. "I couldn't wait to share my favorite foods with him."

Seeing Janey's stubbornness, Raegan tried a different approach, gently suggesting, "Why don't you try some of the shrimp porridge first?"

After some persuasion, Janey finally agreed to eat some porridge without waiting for Mitchel.

Finishing a bowl of porridge, Janey felt almost full. She continued waiting at the table with Raegan, but eventually the exhaustion was too much for her.

Janey usually went to bed at eight-thirty in the evening, and now it was already nine.

Raegan asked Annis to help Janey to bed and get her settled, while she decided to start clearing the table.
