Chapter 527

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

? ? ? ? ?

Davey watched this process unfold with unwavering attention. Despite Jimena's nearly decade of service, his trust in her remained cautious, like his trust in anyone else.

Davey waited in silence until Jimena began to carefully remove the needles after thirty minutes.

That's when his phone broke the silence, prompting Davey to answer. "What's going on?"

The voice on the other end belonged to Katie.

Even on the phone, Davey's eyes were still riveted on Casey and Jimena's methodical movements.

"How long do these injections generally last?" Katie asked.

«It varies. For some, a month. For others, two, even three,” Davey explained.

"And if the last injection is given, will things really happen as you said?" Katie asked.

Davey chuckled lightly, his voice as cold as a poisoned leaf. "Katie, it seems like you're still clinging to some shred of mercy."

“Davey, I just…” Katie’s voice wavered.

"Enough," Davey snapped, his patience exhausted. «I am not your father. I don't have time to guide you through everything. "You have to figure it out yourself."

With a final click, Davey hung up.

Suddenly, a sharp exclamation cut the silence.

“Ah!” It was Jimena, standing next to the bed, alarmed.

"Casey!" Davey, with quick concern, closed the distance between himself and Casey. A careful look reassured him. Casey was unfazed, her peace intact.

"What's all the fuss?" The question came from Davey, his eyes sparking with icy warning, sending a wave of intimidation crashing over Jimena.

"I..." Jimena's words faltered, caught in her throat.

Davey's gaze followed Jimena's, landing on a lone drop of blood on Casey's finger. "Have you hurt him?" His voice, though filled with concern, demanded an explanation.

“It was because…” Jimena barely started before a sudden movement interrupted her.

A slap! Davey's hand abruptly connected with Jimena's face.

“Ah!” Jimena fell to the ground with a cry of surprise.

The slap resounded loudly, leaving its mark.

Jimena cradled her face, now swollen and partially numb, as a trickle of blood made its way from her mouth, a stark testament to Davey's toughness.

“Jimena…” Davey’s voice softened, taking on a calm, soft tone, his lips curling into a semblance of a smile. However, the warmth of his voice belied the coldness of his words, causing Jimena to shiver.

"It's the first time," he said, a simple phrase loaded with sinister implications.

Jimena felt as if she had been burned with a hot iron. The memory of Davey saying these words earlier lingered with haunting clarity. The individual he had previously warned disappeared after a second misstep, to be later discovered by fishermen, an anonymous victim of the sharks.

The chat between the bodyguards by the door had revealed the fate of the unspeakable. Swollen and disfigured by water, but still recognizable.

In a silent act of compassion, the bodyguards had managed to secure half of the remains, ensuring a respectful burial.

Davey's words, therefore, carried a grave finality, a declaration that there would be no tolerance for recidivism. Overcome with fear, Jimena stifled any words she might have uttered, her gaze fixed on Davey.

"Out!" Davey's order was blunt.

Rising to her feet, Jimena stumbled in her haste to leave, her exit clumsy but quick. Despite his mess, he made sure to close the door behind him, a small act of decorum in the midst of his confusion.

As the door closed behind her, Jimena saw Davey on his knees, cradling Casey's delicate fingers like they were treasures and tenderly removing the dried blood. His expression, a mixture of sweetness and pain, made Jimena feel a chill.

With her heart pounding, Jimena headed down the stairs, her mind racing with the events that had just occurred.

During the needle removal, Jimena had noticed Casey's fingers moving, a sign of life for someone who had been in a coma since a tragic fall five years earlier.

Davey had exhausted all possible remedies without success, finally resorting to acupuncture with Jimena's hand.

Despite the lack of progress over the years, Davey's hope never wavered.

It looked like Casey was about to wake up. However, Jimena was hesitant to hold out hope or talk about it with Davey. The fear of what might happen if it was a mere fleeting moment of consciousness was too great. The fate of the man who had made a mistake twice and had met his end in the jaws of sharks remained in his mind like a grim warning.

Meanwhile, in the office, Nicole was sitting at her desk, closely watched by the observers Jarrod had sent.

As he picked up the coffee, a slip of his hand caused it to fall onto his white suit, leaving a striking stain. Muttering a curse, Nicole stood up and headed to the company lounge, hoping to find some way to clean up the mess.

When Nicole entered the living room, the black-clothed bodyguard followed her. Nicole put a hand on his chest, a playful challenge in her eyes. "Is it Jarrod's order that you follow me to the shower?" she asked, amused.

The bodyguard, maintaining a facade of professionalism, responded in a solemn tone: "Miss Lawrence, I apologize, but Alec instructed me to accompany you at all times."

“Okay then,” Nicole said, changing her tone as she playfully tugged at his tie, her smile becoming inviting. Such a gesture was boldly provocative.
