Chapter 349

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

? ? ? ? ?

The night was dark and still.

Outside Raegan's house, Mitchel was sitting in his car. He had followed Raegan and Stefan all the way here, every passing moment a torment.

He suppressed his anger, holding back against any reckless action.

Finally, Mitchel felt a wave of relief as he watched Stefan leave Raegan's house.

However, that did not alleviate his anguish.

Mitchel's heart ached as if it were tied by a thin rope.

The night was getting deeper and deeper.

Sitting in his car, he smoked in silence, filling the ashtray with cigarette butts.

His face was expressionless, a stark contrast to the confident and dominant Mitchel from before. Now he seemed completely dejected.

Events had unfolded in a way he had never anticipated. He had believed that if he held out, Raegan would end up changing her mind and falling in love with him.

But he hadn't thought about how Raegan felt about him. To her, he was a stranger. From the way she looked and the way she treated him, Mitchel was clear that Raegan didn't remember him.

His actions only seemed to push her further away.

Sitting in the car, Mitchel pondered whether this was what they called karma for their lack of timely protection and explanation.

Mitchel had spent the entire night in the car, waiting outside Raegan's house, doing nothing but sitting in silence until dawn.

At eight in the morning, Raegan went out and immediately noticed the luxurious black car.

Their eyes met as Mitchel got out of the car.

Raegan didn't know that Mitchel had spent the entire night there. She assumed he had come to bother her again, which irritated her slightly.

The clear displeasure on his face saddened Mitchel deeply. “I need to talk to you, Raegan.” His voice sounded rough from tobacco.

Mitchel seemed somewhat different from his assertive demeanor the day before.

Wrinkling her brow, Raegan took a step back. "Mr. Dixon, I'm sorry. "Now I have to go to the office."

Even knowing it was Raegan's instinct to reject him, Mitchel felt her heart being stabbed again. And it was incredibly painful.

"OK. But just one question. Is there something between you and that guy? Are…?"

“Not at all,” Raegan replied firmly. Yesterday she had been so upset that she let Mitchel misinterpret her relationship with Stefan. Now more lucid, Raegan didn't want to cause problems for Stefan.

Plus, Raegan had been clear. Even though she wasn't dating anyone, Mitchel wasn't her choice.

That being said, Raegan didn't linger with Mitchel. He turned around and walked to his car.

Watching her go, Mitchel took a deep breath and forced herself to say, "Raegan, I accept the divorce."

Mitchel's words instantly caught Raegan's attention. She turned to him in surprise and asked, "Are you serious?" His eyes practically radiated joy.

Mitchel nodded, a touch of bitterness in his eyes.

Raegan didn't expect such good news so early. She exclaimed happily: "Wait a minute." Realizing that he had forgotten his ID card, he retraced his steps to retrieve it.

When he returned, his quick step and cheerful attitude showed his sense of relief.

Mitchel watched the scene with a pang in his heart.

Lately, he had been experiencing intermittent heart pains, which seemed to be beyond his control. He couldn't help but wonder if something was wrong with his heart, although his recent medical examination had declared him in good health.

When Raegan reappeared with her ID card, Mitchel's expression darkened.

He loosened his tie, trying to relieve a sudden shortness of breath, and his tone took on a somber note. "As far as divorce goes, I have two conditions," Mitchel said.

Raegan's smile faltered momentarily, and she responded angrily, "You're kidding, right?"

Mitchel kept a stoic expression and replied, “As long as you agree to my conditions, I will keep my word and appear in court with you immediately.”

Impatient, Raegan inquired, "What are your conditions then?"

Mitchel continued: "First, don't cut off contact with me after the divorce. Second, promise me that you will not remarry in the next six months.

"That's all?" Raegan was slightly taken aback.

He had expected Mitchel to make things more complicated, but these conditions seemed surprisingly simple. In reality, she had no intention of remarrying, even without Mitchel's request.

If she found a stepfather for Janey, it would be a careful and thoughtful choice. Marrying someone new was not a decision she took lightly.

Furthermore, he had no reason to actively avoid Mitchel, since their encounters were infrequent.

Besides, he didn't hold any resentment towards him. If they crossed paths in the future, he thought he would greet him out of courtesy.

Mitchel pursed his lips and confirmed. "Yes, those are my conditions."

Raegan considered his conditions reasonable. As he was about to accept, Mitchel added another request: “However, that doesn't mean I'm giving up on you. You talked about justice, right? I will grant you freedom, but I will also do everything possible to rekindle your feelings for me.

For your part, you should put aside any prejudice and treat me like any other suitor. Do you agree?

In reality, Mitchel was taking a gamble. After a night of reflection, he had decided to offer Raegan the equity she desired. Believing that his past love could be rekindled, he was putting everything on the line to win her back.

Even if he lost her in the end, perhaps, he would wish for Raegan to find happiness in her life. But if he could stand seeing Raegan with another man it raised suspicions.

Raegan sensed that Mitchel's conditions were more than they seemed.

She hesitated, unsure if she should accept.

Mitchel couldn't resist the temptation and said to her: "Don't you have faith in yourself? Are you worried about falling in love with me again?

As expected, his words irritated Raegan. «You are a complete narcissist!

Who in their right mind would fall in love with you, huh? If you want to chase me, go ahead. Frankly, I have no romantic feelings left for you.
