Chapter 338

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

? ? ? ? ?

Janey's spontaneous gesture left Mitchel in a state of bewilderment.

To tell the truth, apart from Raegan, Mitchel had an aversion to being touched by other people, whether they were adults or children.

However, the more Janey looked at Mitchel, the more she liked him.

To everyone's amazement, Janey planted an unexpected kiss on Mitchel's face.

Janey had wanted Mitchel to be her father. The more she looked at him, the more she liked him, and she looked forward to the moment when she could show off her incredibly handsome father to Ann.

In Janey's eyes, Ann's father paled in comparison.

Despite Raegan's teachings about avoiding derogatory comments, Janey vividly remembered the last time Ann called her "bastard." Ann's father, in turn, laughed at the comment.

This fueled Janey's private contempt for Ann's father, muttering curses under her breath.

In a sweet voice, Janey asked, "Dad, can we go to the amusement park?"

Mitchel, with a complicated expression, tried to respond, but was left speechless. Janey had walked over and planted a soft kiss on his cheek.

Surprisingly, Mitchel didn't find the unknown girl's sweet kiss unpleasant. On the contrary, an inexplicable feeling of affection welled up from the depths of his heart.

Mitchel had originally intended to gently push Janey away, but instead he found himself holding her back. His concern was due to fear that he would fall and hurt himself. It was the first time Mitchel felt unsure about how to handle Janey in his arms.

Meanwhile, Janey looked at Mitchel with her big admiring eyes, captivated by his presence.

When their eyes met, Mitchel caught a glimpse of his own reflection in Janey's innocent gaze. Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind. How wonderful it would be if that little girl was Raegan's and hers. Although he recognized that the idea was absurd, he couldn't get it out of his head.

Janey, despite having met Mitchel only once at the airport, had great sympathy for him. She was attracted to him because his face looked like the one in her dreams.

As Mitchel held Janey in her arms, a sudden panic gripped Raegan and her face paled. The disturbing thought that Mitchel might take Janey from her crossed her mind, leaving her stunned.

But as far as she knew, he wasn't Janey's biological father.

“Janey!” Raegan shouted anxiously as she quickly snatched Janey from Mitchel's arms. "Don't call him that again!"

Janey was stunned by Raegan's reaction, and her lips pursed as if she were about to cry.

Watching this, Mitchel couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for Janey.

Just as Mitchel was about to say something, Raegan crouched down and met Janey's eyes, her tone noticeably softer but serious. «Janey Foster, this man is not your father. You can't call a stranger 'dad'.

Understood?"

To a stranger? Raegan's words fell on Mitchel like an unexpected waterfall of icy water, making him recoil in surprise. So that was what he was to her now. A stranger. If her baby had survived, she probably would have been as adorable as Janey. Unfortunately, it was impossible.

Confused, Janey looked between Mitchel and Raegan, feeling aggrieved and on the verge of tears. He had chosen Mitchel as his dad ever since they met at the airport.

Raegan let out a sigh, her voice soft as she spoke to Janey. «Come here, darling. I need you to understand something. That man is not your father. If you keep calling him 'dad', that could cause him some problems. You understand me?"

Janey, still in her early years, couldn't fully understand it all. However, he instinctively understood the importance of not causing trouble to others. So, the dad she had chosen didn't want to have a girl like her? A wave of sadness washed over her.

In that moment, Janey felt as if she had offered someone her favorite doll to cruelly throw away.

Janey's eyes filled with disappointment and she replied, "Okay, I see..."

Seeing Janey's emotional state, Raegan tenderly reached out, gently touching Janey's head. “Well, say goodbye to him then.”

At that moment, Mitchel had already gotten out of his car, standing in front of them. She had overheard Raegan's words to Janey, feeling the weight of the situation. He said that Janey calling him that would get him in trouble. Well, he didn't care. He was willing to accept any challenge willingly.

Reluctantly, Janey greeted Mitchel and said a soft, "Goodbye, sir."

His voice carried a somber tone, on the verge of tears.

In an instant, a great force seemed to hit Mitchel's heart. The desire to put his arms around Janey and comfort her overwhelmed him.

A complex emotion flickered in Mitchel's eyes, an uncertainty about why he felt such a deep connection to a girl he had just met.

As Mitchel continued to stare at Janey without blinking, Raegan's discomfort intensified. She was becoming more and more reluctant to let Janey be around Mitchel.

Unable to stand it any longer, Raegan firmly grabbed Janey's hand, nodding to Mitchel, and started to walk away without looking back.

"Hang on a minute!" Mitchel shouted, stopping abruptly.

Raegan stopped her steps and turned to look at Mitchel.

Pausing briefly, Mitchel said, "Don't forget to stop by my office tomorrow."

Frowning, Raegan replied, “Sure.”

At the time, nothing seemed more crucial to Raegan than finalizing her divorce from Mitchel.

Seeing their retreating figures, Mitchel felt an indescribable pain in his heart. Leaning against the car, he took a moment before entering.

Upon arriving home, Janey was visibly in a bad mood. He kept his head down, absentmindedly playing with his fingers, preferring silence to words.

Raegan recognized Janey's distress, but felt helpless to comfort her.
