Chapter 1667
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1667:
? ? ? ? ?
Although the images were not clear, it was clear that the woman who had fallen was Jamie. However, she was not her main concern.
The priority was to discover the identity of the figure who orchestrated Jamie's actions. She was nothing more than a pawn in the hands of someone much more dangerous: the driver of the SUV.
Conor replied, âUnderstood!â I have prepared to leave to carry out the task.
Jarrod added sternly, âTighten up the security at Nicoleâs house. And make sure the staff is competent this time.â
Conor's face reflected Jarrod's seriousness and he agreed seriously. He had underestimated the situation, assuming that a few third-rate bodyguards would be sufficient for the security of the area.
The failure of these guards to stop even Jamie and his accomplice had been a blatant error of judgment. It was clear that a more qualified team was needed.
Just as Conor was about to leave, he paused and turned to ask, âMr. Schultz, should we also deploy a team to go after Jamie?â
When Conor mentioned Jamie's name, Jarrod's expression remained eerily calm, and he replied in a slow, measured tone: "No need. It's unlikely he'll get it."
Conor was shocked. What made Jarrod so sure that Jamie wouldn't survive?
Conor assumed that the mysterious person who had rescued Jamie still saw her as an ally, despite her condition. However, Jarrod's thoughts were very different from Conor's.
Jarrod absentmindedly manipulated the video feed from the neighborhood entrance, freezing the footage just as the SUV was about to hit Jamie.
The move was ruthless and calculated, aimed at killing without mercy. Perhaps the risk of Jamie dying on the doorstep of the neighborhood seemed too great, so the plan had been revised.
Still, it was clear that the mysterious figure had no intention of sparing Jamie's life.
Conor saw the fake license plates on the SUV, but he knew that he wouldn't stop them from tracking the vehicle. As long as it remained in Ambrosia, the surveillance system would eventually leave a trail.
Meanwhile, in the SUV, Jamie's expression changed as he took in his surroundings. He asked, "Mr. Bates, why are we stopping in the middle of nowhere? I'm going to have a hard time getting a taxi back from here."
"Do you want to get fussy now?" the man replied, annoyed.
Jamie fell silent, her lips pressed together in a tense gesture of restraint.
âCan I go now?â Jamie asked cautiously.
The man finished his cigarette before turning to Jamie with a calm, unhurried look. âYes,â he finally said, his voice low and measured.
Jamie's face lit up with relief as he quickly opened the car door, which this time swung smoothly. He sighed in gratitude, thinking that he had narrowly avoided a dangerous situation.
But as soon as she left, a brutal kick hit her in the back, causing her to fall to the ground.
âUgh!â Jamie's body flew through the air, blood filling her mouth as she spat it out. Her bones felt shattered by the force of the kick, leaving her collapsed and broken on the ground.
The man got out of the car and approached Jamie, stopping in front of her.
Jamie looked at him, bewildered, and asked, "Why did you kick me?"
