Chapter 1660

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1660:

? ? ? ? ?

Outside, Nicole shared her theory. She believed that Jamie, acting alone, would not have been strong enough to fatally wound Brett and inflict so many stab wounds.

Brett, a stocky six-footer, was not easily subdued. In contrast, Jamie had been physically frail and had fainted frequently during his time working with Jemma.

Furthermore, Jamie had recently attempted suicide by slashing his wrists, resulting in blood loss, making a quick recovery unlikely.

Therefore, it is likely that Jamie had an accomplice or could not have committed the crime without help.

Stabbing someone more than sixty times showed a deeply disturbed psyche, which meant that the individual represented a significant threat to society, a true madman.

Ethel agreed with Nicole's speculation. Based on her interactions with Jamie during his hospitalization, she couldn't imagine Jamie dominating Brett. Furthermore, the absence of drugs in Brett's system, as indicated by the autopsy report, eliminated the possibility that Brett was incapacitated.

Considering Jamie's fragile state, Brett could have easily overpowered her several times.

The main objective now was to locate Jamie and figure out the next steps. However, the challenge was to determine Jamie's whereabouts.

Lost in her thoughts, Nicole walked out of the hospital and accidentally bumped into someone. To her surprise, it was Rhett.

“Miss Lawrence, what a coincidence,” Rhett greeted her with a slight smile.

Nicole was startled. “Why are you…?”

Breaking off mid-sentence, Nicole speculated that Rhett must be there for a doctor's appointment.

Recalling her neglect of Rhett since Austin's abrupt illness, Nicole felt remorseful. After all, Rhett had been helping her, inadvertently exposing himself to infection.

However, for the sake of her own son, she had abandoned him.

“I apologize, Mr. Bates. Austin's condition suddenly worsened, and I have been treating him non-stop. “I am sorry I have not found time to visit you,” Nicole said sincerely.

“Nothing's wrong. How’s Austin now?” Rhett inquired, genuinely concerned.

Nicole felt a great sense of remorse. She had forgotten to ask about Rhett's well-being, and yet he showed genuine concern for her son. Rhett was a true example of kindness.

“He's improved a lot. What about you, Mr. Bates? You indicated that the results would be available in two weeks. Have they come back?” Nicole asked impatiently, hoping for positive news. She wished Rhett well. I have deserved it.

"That's reassuring. I've confirmed that I'm not infected. The prophylactic medication probably played a role," Rhett said nonchalantly.

Nicole felt immense relief. Rhett's prompt administration of medication after the incident had probably contributed significantly to her well-being.

Nicole let out a long sigh of relief. “How wonderful! Thank God it was just a false alarm.”

She looked at Rhett, her expression serious but full of gratitude. “I am in your debt, Mr. Bates. If you ever need anything, just say the word.”

Even though Rhett was unaffected, Nicole knew the test wasn't over. The odds had been fifty-fifty, and Rhett had probably hardened significant mental strain.

However, she had maintained her composure throughout. He couldn't help but admire her resilience.
