Chapter 1634
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1634:

Nicole felt a pang of excitement at Austin's maturity. Her eyes grew moist as she spoke softly, âAustin, don't say things like that. You will grow up by my side. âYou will stay strong and help me raise the baby.â
With conviction, Austin comforted her. âRest assured that the welfare of this baby is my solemn duty.â
Nicole read a story to Austin until her eyelids went sleepy before getting up.
Nicole recalled Roscoe's previous findings, suggesting the possible administration of those pills to Austin, despite the uncertain efficacy that required further evaluation.
Nicole hesitated, debating the decision to allow Austin to participate in the trial.
She also acknowledged the need to obtain Jarrod's approval, as Austin's biological father, to ensure transparency regarding Austin's medical care.
For the moment, Austin's health remained favorable, but if his condition worsened, intervening later might prove futile.
Nicole felt the urgency to quickly make a decision and act.
In the hospital corridors, Jarrod heard Conor's question directed at the caretaker. "Did anyone visit Mr. Schultz yesterday?"
The caretaker shook his head. âThere were no visitors.â
Conor's disappointment increased as he acknowledged Jarrod's persistent bad mood.
Entering the room, Conor began his usual recitation of company news to Jarrod.
Unexpectedly, Jarrod asked, âWho were you expecting?â
Conor hesitated and decided it was best to be honest. âI ran into Miss Lawrence at the hospital yesterday.â
"What did you convey to him?" Jarrod asked.
âI suggested he visit you if he had time,â Conor replied.
Jarrod remained silent, acknowledging that Nicole was aware of his condition and his absence in spite of it. I gave a bitter laugh. Indeed, if she had any compassion for him, she would not be Nicole.
âWhat brought you to the hospital?â Jarrod asked, a hint of concern in his tone.
Conor replied, âMiss Lawrence mentioned that she was there accompanying a friend who was receiving an IV.â
âA friend?â Jarrod frowned. âWho could it be?â
Conor, who had already gathered some information, promptly replied: "It was Mr. Bates. He seemed unwell, and Miss Lawrence called on him."
This revelation deeply disturbed and worried Jarrod. What kind of bond did Rhett share with Nicole? Despite their few encounters, Rhett seemed remarkably significant.
Seeing Jarrod's troubled expression, Conor was quick to reassure him: "Miss Lawrence's visit was brief. She left in the afternoon, as confirmed by the hospital staff."
Jarrod remained stoic and did not respond.
Conor, sensing the tension, refrained from further discussion and steered the conversation back to business matters. However, the conversation was abruptly interrupted by an unexpected visitor. It was Jarrod's cousin, Hallie.
âJarrod, I need you to help me with Doreen!â Hallie exclaimed as she entered, seemingly oblivious to their earlier altercation.
