Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1628:

"Hospitals are usually cautious about these cases, but sometimes patients hide their condition, which leads to risky complications if blood is involved."

“Exactly. The man hid his illness. I heard that he even bit someone by the elevator. “We are following up on him to inform you now.”

Suddenly, a loud bang rang out as a bag of medicine fell to the ground.

Nicole's complexion paled as she pieced everything together, a shiver of fear running through her.

The nurses, realizing they had been overheard, quickly fell silent. Concern about damaging the hospital's reputation prevented them from spreading such sensitive information.

Rhett approached the nurse and asked, "Was the individual you mentioned intoxicated?"

The nurse replied, shaking her head: “I'm sorry; “we can’t reveal that information.”

Remaining calm, Rhett explained: “I was bitten by an intoxicated man next to the elevator. Is this the same patient you are talking about?”

The nurse's demeanor changed, recognizing that the poor soul in question was still in the building. Her tone turned serious. “Sir, please follow us for a checkup.”

Rhett's expression darkened. It was obvious that the HIV-positive man was the man who had bitten him.

Nicole, shocked by the gravity of the situation, never anticipated such an unlikely event. She stayed by Rhett's side during the tests while the hospital staff repeatedly apologized. Despite the situation, Rhett maintained his composure.

Guilt weighed on Nicole, regretting Rhett's presence at her side in the hospital.

The circumstance seemed like a cruel twist of fate, a strange accident.

Following initial testing, Rhett was placed on a post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) regimen and was scheduled for regular check-ups. A single negative result was not definitive, as the virus could go undetected at first.

The following weeks promised to be challenging for anyone, potentially overwhelming for the least resilient.

Nicole gasped, “Mr. Bates, this is all my fault. I'm so sorry. If I hadn't brought you here…” Her voice cracked, consumed by guilt. Who could possibly maintain their composure under such stress?

Seeing the tears in Nicole's eyes, Rhett offered her comfort.

“Miss Lawrence, don't worry. I have contacts at a major research institute. They have cutting-edge technology and will confirm the effectiveness of PEP within two weeks. The treatment is very effective. “It has a success rate.”

Even in such an intense moment, Rhett's ability to reassure Nicole demonstrated her remarkable emotional strength.

Filled with remorse, Nicole told him, “Mr. Bates, I will take care of all your expenses, including compensation for lost wages and emotional distress.”

Rhett, having regained his composure after the initial shock, managed a slight smile. “Miss Lawrence, I'm fine. I’ll treat this as a two-week vacation to relax. Don’t worry.”

Nicole had never encountered anyone as emotionally resilient as Rhett. Many would have collapsed under such stress.

Rhett stood up effortlessly, as if unaffected. “Let's go, Miss Lawrence. “I’ll take you home.”

Nicole paused and suggested, “Maybe I should get him a driver.” She was worried about Rhett's safety driving in his condition.
