Chapter 1624

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1624:

However, Davina fought back with conviction.

"Ms. Lawrence, I joined your company to advance my career, not to slack off. It is true that I previously worked for the Schultz Group, and in fact, many prestigious companies were interested in my resume.

However, I left the Schultz Group to join the Lawrence Group because my abilities are recognized and valued here. In larger companies, such as the Schultz Group, the talent pool is huge, and my contributions would hardly make a dent.

In such gigantic companies, not only are there more qualified people, but the competition and office politics can be overwhelming. After careful consideration, I chose the Lawrence Group. It was not Mr. Schultz who directed me here.

When Schultz looked for flexible employees, I was not his first choice. He chose other people who were more experienced in the business world, but he was hesitant to trade a secure position at a large company for one at a smaller, unknown one. I did my homework on the Lawrence Group and willingly volunteered. Mr. Schultz's assistant recognized my genuine enthusiasm and selected me.

I have formally resigned from the Schultz Group. Mr. Schultz is no longer my boss. I am here because my work is appreciated and I can enjoy a good life. So please do not pressure me to leave, and rest assured that I am not naive: I know how to take care of myself.

Convinced by Davina's honest and reasoned explanation, Nicole discarded the idea of firing her from the company.

Nicole's confidence in her own judgment was reinforced by Davina's honest and frank behavior.

Furthermore, while Davina may have been cunning, she hadn't crossed any ethical or legal lines.

Convinced of Davina's commitment and recognizing her joy for the work, Nicole resolved to expand the Lawrence Group, creating more opportunities for Davina to flourish.

That night, Davina conducted dinner with aplomb.

By the end of the evening, Nicole was beginning to feel unwell. Noticing her discomfort, Davina quickly arranged transportation and escorted Nicole to the car before returning to finish the meal.

On the way home, Nicole's condition worsened. Unsure whether she had simply caught a cold or something more serious, she felt an uncomfortable feeling in her stomach and grabbed onto the car seat, urging the driver to slow down.

Unfortunately, the driver, showing impatience, maneuvered the car erratically, exacerbating Nicole's nausea.

As Nicole's retching filled the car, the driver exclaimed in a mix of panic and irritation, "Hey, keep calm back there! Any mess you make is going to cost you $500 to clean up."

Nicole was speechless at the driver's insensitive comment. Her frustration boiled over and she replied, "Sir, I specifically asked you to slow down."

The driver replied dismissively: “I’ve been driving like this for 20 years. Slowing down now is not my way of working. If you’re not happy, you can leave.”

True to his word, the driver stopped abruptly and left Nicole lying on the side of the road.

Nicole was stunned. She had never imagined that the driver could display such a terrible temperature. The incident highlighted the need to hire a chauffeur, especially now.

Given her pregnancy, driving herself was not an option, and relying on taxis was proving to be more hassle than it was worth.

Just as Nicole picked up the phone to order another taxi, a car unexpectedly stopped next to her.

The window gently rolled down and the driver looked out, surprised. “Miss Lawrence? Is that you? What are you doing here?”
